Time Management

Time management is a term that is used to describe ones use of productive time. Time management is all relative to the perception of the task needing to be accomplished. Is the project long or short term? Is this something that needs to be done in a timeframe? Is this a personal goal or is it a demand of a superior? Defining time management and applying it to my life has created some questions of how well I succeed as an employee, student, mother and wife while creating a balance between obligation and time.

My goals are to be the best person I can be for my family and myself. I try to create family values by bringing the family together in many ways. Some of the ideas I have to encourage daily are creating meals together and going on walks. Dinner time we cook, eat and clean up while talking about our day. When I have personal time, I love to explore hobbies and crafts that we all can do as a family. Those times we are spending together reinforces my belief that closeness as a family will help and to be there for one another. Unfortunately, with my daily routine, I feel that I don’t spend enough time with my family. Our nighttime routine usually consists of us all preparing for bed at the same time, but I would prefer to take this special time to read with my children. This is an area in which better discipline of time may be to my advantage.

Throughout this evaluation process, my personal time log reveals that I may have crammed too many commitments into a day. I simply allow for some personal time two to three times daily. If I were to keep my personal time to a maximum of once a day this will allow me to restructure improperly used time, giving me the family time I cherish. My early morning routine consis...

... give me the opportunity to become more productive. The rewards will present themselves just by the persistence of accomplishing my goals. If I should become overwhelmed with daily tasks due to a lack of time, I will need to revisit my daily time log making sure I am still utilizing my journal as reinforcement along with the other tools such as the timer and support system.

My first choice to creating a well managed life would be to spend more quality time with my family and be more productive at work. Based on my findings of personal time management, to my surprise, the time was divided adequately! For improvement of time management, changes that could be made would be to shorten some activities and to identify tasks that stray me from losing focusing of my goals. The changes that could be made are simple and effective. Perseverance is the key to my own success.
