Tiger Woods Will Become The Greatest Golfer Ever
The question on the mind of the golfing fraternity around the world is: Is Tiger Woods the greatest golf player of all-time? My strong opinion is definitely not. There are many reasons for myself adopting this point of view, and these include the fact that Woods has no strong resistance for him to be closely challenged from winning tournaments by multiple strokes, I feel although Woods is too inexperienced to be the greatest player of all-time and also the fact that Woods has won comparably few tournaments compared to greats such as Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan.
There is no doubt in my mind that at the moment, Tiger Woods is the most dominant player ever, but I believe that he needs tough competition be fore we jump to conclusions and pronounce him the greatest ever. When Jack Nicklaus, the man who I believe is the greatest player all-time, first began playing the on the professional circuit, he was made to fight tooth and nail for every victory he acquired. Players such as Arnold Palmer and Gary Player are remembered by many to ...
Wayne Gretzky was a leader, and although his character as a person cannot be measured by mere statistics, he sure has some outstanding ones. However, this definitely was not the last award Gretzky would receive.
He hit 600 home runs (5th most all time), won 10 gold gloves, and made 13 All Star Games. In almost 150 years baseball history, only the great Willie Mays can match Ken Griffey Jr. in these statistical categories. However, despite these extraordinary stats, Ken Griffey Jr. may be the ultimate “What Could Have Been” player. An incredibly promising career was derailed in the latter half by chronic injuries that robbed him of hundreds of games. If not for these injuries, Griffey was well on his way to becoming the Home Run King (Stark, 2010) and possibly the greatest player ever. Despite these setbacks, Griffey is still revered as one of the greatest and most popular MLB players ever. The savior of baseball in Seattle and the lone star to stay above the darkness of the steroid era, Griffey will go down in history as a legendary athlete.
does have downfalls in his reputation and his actions throughout the long term of his life, but he still changed the game of baseball and gave people hope while doing so. When all the fame, rush of the spotlight, youth, and the wild side of Babe ruth settled down, his great qualities and the good he did really started to shine through. He did fill the stands of baseball by giving people hope and thrill throughout the war time and Great Depression (Family). He set stunning records that would forever be remembered in the baseball community and in the United States in general. It requires a unique and special hero to continue to have the effect that Babe Ruth still has today. Babe Ruth does deserve to be recognized as one of the most influential people in
Golf is a sport of fun shots, and frustration shots. One of the best players ever to play the sport was Jack Nicklaus. Nicklaus had many accomplishments in golf and even though I will not mention all of his accomplishments I will mention some of the most important. Jack won six Masters Tournaments, the Masters is the biggest golf tournament of the whole year, and he won his sixth Masters at the age of forty-six! He won seventy-three PGA tour wins and eighteen majors, meaning that he won either the U.S. open, the Open Championship, the Masters Tournament, or the PGA Championship eighteen times! Jack even won PGA tour player of the year five times! Jack’s accomplishments are very good but we have to start at the beginning.
Jackie Robinson had a fascinating career; he set many records and legacies. To Robinson disrupting a opponent was important (Weber 28). Nobody wanted to win as much as Jackie did (Weber 28). Jackie's skill attracted Branch Rickey (Weber 28). Jackie went in
Tiger Woods: remarkable golfer, talented, family man. . . cheater? Over the past few years, Tiger Woods’ behavior has been questioned and examined. His reputation as an extraordinary athlete has taken the backseat to his overwhelming secret life. Tiger’s “sex-capades” were displayed all over the media: television, magazine articles, and the radio. The world was given the opportunity to look past the “greatest golfer alive” persona and see the damaged human being on the inside. We all were consumed with the shock of his antics as numerous women spoke out about having sexual relations with Mr. Woods. His scandalizing actions have us all wondering about what led to these shocking events. In the following paragraphs, I will be comparing Tiger’s behavior to Abraham Maslow’s humanistic theory.
When people think of basketball and the great players that play today we all think of Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, and I mean lets face it we can name players whom play the game very well till we are blue in the face. All these players that were thinking of and naming have something in common which is none of them can compare to what Michael Jordan has done to the game. Some people say he destroyed the game making it that everything people accomplish is compared to what he has done in his career. Which happens when everyone i...
How do you measure the greatness of the two biggest NBA superstars of all time? Michael Jordan is significantly known for being the ultimate basketball player in NBA history. However, LeBron James is considered one of the top basketball players in the NBA now. There inspiring leadership and unbelievable talent on the court makes it hard for us to choose a winner. James is continuously breaking NBA history, but Jordan's mighty legacy is considered unbreakable. Why can't both exceptional players be valued and appreciated, rather than compared?
It has long been debated as to who is the best athlete of all time, yet nobody has ever really had a legitimate answer to the question. There has been so many amazing athletes over the years, from many different sports. It is hard to compare athletes from different sports to each other but, there are definitely a couple that stick out as the best of all time. A few that come to mind are Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps, and many more. As for me, there is no doubt in my mind that Bo Jackson is the greatest athlete of all time.
Due to the mark Michael Jordan has left on the world as the “G.O.A.T.”, it will be very difficult for any player to surpass his legacy. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James all have similarities of Michael Jordan but, out of all three players James is the closest. LeBron has the most similarities and the potential to surpass Michael Jordan’s legacy with his personality, stats and he popularity on and off the court. Even though James has the potential to surpass his legacy, there is still a very long journey ahead of James if he ever wants to be considered the “G.O.A.T.”.
First, we will celebrate LeBron James’s accomplishments in the NBA. There are over 400 players in the NBA. These players are on the battlefield, fighting day after day because they all know only one can become the Most Valuable Player. LeBron James rose above all, claiming the MVP award, not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 times. Not only is LeBron James an MVP, but he is also a 13-time All-Star player. LeBron James garnered enough votes from the fans, the players, and the media to become an All-Star like a presidential candidate getting enough votes from the voters to become the President.
Whether some people like it or not, LeBron is one of the greatest to do it. He still continues today scoring major points, leading his team, and dominating the game of basketball.
Imagine the sun bursting through the trees for the first time of the new day, the smell of freshly cut grass still potent to your nose as you tee the ball up for a round of golf in the cool mist of a spring morning. "That is what brings you back every time, the smell of the air, the coolness of the whether and the beautiful surroundings that make every shot enjoyable." (Suess, PI) This is the game of golf in its finest and most exquisite time to many people and many people it has touched in its long history. Golf is a lifestyle and not just games to people that are avid in playing. The game of golf has a history that is rich in technological advances and personal accomplishments, which through time has shown to shape the sport into what it has become today.
Thesis: Professional golfer Tiger Woods is a modern-day tragic hero because his flaw of excessive pride directly led to the destruction of both his personal relationships and his professional career. Tiger took complete responsibility for his actions, but it came too late and by then he ended up suffering consequences that were excessive compared to his errors.
Tiger now lives in a new home in Isleworth, Florida. Near the west side of
