Tiburcio Vasquez was Born in Monterey in 1835. He was descended from one of earliest settlers of California. His great-grandfather arrived in California as a young man with the DeAnza expedition of 1776. His criminal career began in 1852, at 17 when he attended a local fandango with his older cousin, Anastacio Garcia. When a fight broke out, Constable William Hardmount was killed. Even though they weren’t directly involved in the killing they still fled the scene. Jose Higuera, one of Vasquez’s friends who was at the fight didn’t flee and was hanged by vigilantes the next day. While hiding in the hills with his cousin he picked up the “outlaw business”. He joined a gang of other desperados, and eventually became the leader of his own group.
In Tulia, TX, a five hour drive from Dallas, 46 people were swept up in an early morning drug sting in July of 1999. Thirty-nine of the suspects were black in that tiny, predominantly white town. They represented roughly 20% of the town’s adult black population. The drug sting was the culmination of an 18 month undercover investigation by a narcotics agent, Tom Coleman. He had been hired as part of a federal anti-drug program funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Byrne grant. The local newspapers labelled these suspects as “scumbags” and, based upon a tip from the local authorities, captured video footage of the perp walk as these people were paraded disheveled in their underwear to jail. Known, for apparent reasons, as "The Railroad Killer," Angel Resendez (who was known throughout much of the manhunt by the alias Rafael Ramirez) has been called "a man with a grudge," "confused," hostile" and "angry" by the police, the news media and psychiatrists. He is an illegal immigrant from Mexico who crossed the international border at will. Most of his crimes took place in central Texas, but he is suspected of having killed as far north as Kentucky and Illinois.
Texas in early 1836, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and his main force of at least 5000 men followed an inland route toward San Antonio. At the same time, Mexican General Jose Urrea with some 900 troops, left Matamoros and followed a coastal route into Texas.

This fort still stands today, built to protect the city of St. Augustine. Standing as America’s oldest masonry fort, the Castillo de San Marcos has weathered the elements for more than three hundred years. It is the tenth in a series of forts built to protect the city. The previous nine had been constructed of wood before Queen Regent Mariana of Spain finally approved the construction of a powerful masonry the Castillo de San Marcos. Work on the fort began in October of 1672 after a pirate attack did some damage to the wood fort in 1668. Recently there was a school shooting at a high school in Florida, 17 were killed and many others were injured. This attack was carried out by a 19-year-old named Nikolas Cruz. Cruz was clearly mentally unstable and had his actions show for it. His family and friends all knew about his issues and so did schools, his fellow peers even made jokes about him shooting up the school way before the incident even occurred. Multiple tips had been received prior to the shooting and the FBI did not take action to stop this attack and warn the school.

Vasco Nunez de Balboa was a Spanish conquistador and explorer born in 1475 in the Extremadura region of Spain. Prior to his birth his family had lost their wealth and influence in Spain, so he was born into an impoverished family making him work as a page. When he was 6 years old he started working for a nobleman who was influential in their community. They were also explorers making Balboa grow interest in exploring. In 1500 Balboa went on an expedition led by Rodrigo de Bastidas. Expeditions were highly controlled by the Spanish Crown. The goal was to explore Venezuela and find gold. They found no gold and when they were on their way back their boat was infested with shipworms and they sailed to a close island before the ship sunk. Bastidas was accused of illegally
Giovanni da Verrazzano was born in Tuscany, Italy in 1485 to parents Piero Andrea da Verrazzano and Fiametta Capelli. His siblings were Gerolamo, Bernardo, Nicolo, and Piero (Morley). Gerolamo was the only family member that accompanied Verrazzano on his journey as a mapmaker. Gerolamo also was the one to create some of the first maps depicting the Americas (“Depression-Era Soup Kitchens”). Giovanni da Verrazzano had an excellent education in Florence, Italy, but moved to Dieppe, France, hoping to pursue a maritime exploring career. In January of 1524, King Francis I, the king of France, agreed to sponsor his trip by providing him with ships and necessary tools for the journey (Keshavarz).
