Tia Maria Torres is my personal hero. To me, the definition of a hero is someone with a reaction to an issue that effects them deeply. Mrs. Torres should be considered a hero because of her courageousness, perseverance and constantly putting others before herself. She is the kind of personal who fits right into this category.
In her early life she left home at just 17 years old. When she left, she had a plethora of animals with her. These animals ranged from cats and dogs, to horses and such. At times she was homeless and/or poor. Her first job wasn't anything special, she was a truck driver. After having that job for a while, she joined the army. Then when Tia finished serving in the army for 6 years, she got yet another job. For this job,

she was a youth gang councilor. This was her last job before starting the largest dog rescue center in America. The generosity is clearly shown throughout all her jobs. The job she has now is running the largest animal rescue center in America.
Tia Torres mainly focuses on pitbulls, the most misunderstood dog breed in the USA. Statistically, pitbulls are one of the least likely dogs to be adopted of other dog breeds. She does take in more than just pitbulls too. Dogs like labs, spaniels, pugs and retrievers for example.
Tia hires ex-prisoners on parole, also known as a parolee. The reason she hires these people is to give them their 2nd chance. She believes in second chances for everyone and everything. These people that she hires still have the opportunity to make money ad persevere with their life. Many of them end up having a family and not going back to jail. Being in a situation like this, you would most likely take this opening.
Everyone has their opinions about things and this is mine. Opposing claims to mine might be along the lines of "She takes care of dogs and gives people work, how is she a hero?" or "She's a generous dog lady, I don't see it". These both have points addressable for counter arguments and can easily be turned around. For example, she does more than take care of dogs. She gives them a new forever home and makes sure that they are safe, where ever they may be. Yes she does hive people jobs, but it's to make sure they can carry on with their life and have a
family. Overall, I think that we can all agree she is a hero. The amount of selflessness she has is astonishing. She does so much and expects nothing back. Mrs. Torres is a one of a kind person and deserves all the respect she has and more. Tia Maria Torres is my personal hero and is hopefully now yours as well.
my view is a hero because she took everything that was imposed on her and
The author Jane Yolen said, “Literature is a textually transmitted disease, normally contracted in childhood.” This disease she referenced I never seemed to contract. My experiences with literature, both reading, and writing, have been dull, to say the least. There was never anything that stuck out to me or had a changing impact on my perception of literature. Literature was a job that I had to show up to and pay attention to when I was told This was true until I began reading a biography about one of my favorite artists. It was a book about Selena, who's full name is Selena Quintanilla Perez, and was written by her husband, Chris Perez. As I was reading this book, I experienced the first time that a piece of literature can have an impact on
Selena, “Le Reina de Tejano”, was born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson. She was the youngest of three children of Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and Marcela, his wife. At a young age, Abraham had a strong passion for music that he still has. During the 1950s and 1960s, him and his friends made a group called “Los Dinos” and played at nightclubs and restaurants. Even though his passion for music, he gave it up when he got married and earned a job at Dow Chemical as a shipping clerk.
Faye is fighting to re-home animals that have been abandoned and abused. Since 2012 she has re-homed more than 60 dogs, and about 20 kittens. Faye says, “I would do anything no matter what to save one animal.” It’s as if her whole entire life revolves around saving animals. Faye thinks just by adopting an animal you can help animal abandonment. Also, Faye has her own book on why animal abandonment isn’t good. Although Faye thinks her job is stressful, she thinks it’s easy because she enjoys doing her job and helping animals find a home.
“A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with [their] freedom” (Dylan). However, though heroes face complications throughout their quest, in the end they often accomplish an important rask. In the book, Like Water for Chocolate, the main character, Tita shows a perfect example of a hero. Tita is in a continuous emotional quest throughout the entire story, but proves along the way she is indeed one who will not fail. Many characteristics of a hero certainly fit Tita’s character, however, there are some very important ones, she: suffers an unusual childbirth, yields a special weapon, goes through a traumatic event that leads to an adventure, has supernatural help, experiences atonement with mother, and when she dies she is rewarded spiritually.
Selena Quintanilla, the madonna of Tejano music. Such an empowering person; she was beloved by many. Her tragic death caused an immense outrage and pained many. Yolanda Saldivar, her killer made a huge mistake that day. Nothing can justify her shooting Selena. Her actions were driven by hatred towards the Quintanilla family, greed, and caused an immense outbreak of mourning. Although some may say that her actions were justified because of her being fired, that is not a good enough reason to shoot someone. Here are my explanations as to why Yolanda saldivar did not have a valid reason to end Selena Quintanilla’s life.
Selena Quintanilla-Perez, was an American singer, songwriter, spokesperson, model, actress, and fashion designer. She was called the Queen of Tejano music, her contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers. Selena was born on April 16, 1971 and died of a gunshot wound on March 31, 1995. Furthermore, in the 1980s, Selena was often criticized and was refused bookings at venues across Texas for performing Tejano music—a male-dominated music genre. However, her popularity grew after she won the Tejano Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year in 1987, which she won nine consecutive times. Selena signed with EMI Latin in 1989 and released her self-titled debut album the same year, while her
Rosa Parks What’s a hero? A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities. Hero’s can also be someone who has made a change in the world and or a society like Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks is considered a hero because of all the things she went through and made happen throughout her life.
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
In recent years it has been the pit bull which has come under the scrutiny of legislative bodies, as their reputation becomes more and more sullied by street crime. To say “pit bull,” however, is a vague reference to several pit bull types, which are considered separate breeds by registries like the American Kennel Club (AKC). Each type has a slightly different breeding history; many began with the breeding of bulldogs with terriers to produce a loyal, compact and tenacious breed (“American Pit Bull Terrier”). The three standard pit bull types most often mentioned by name in breed-specific legislation include the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. That is not the extent of the legislation, however, which also includes dogs that “substantially conform to the breed standards established by the American Kennel Club” (Melvindale)....

What is a hero? A hero isn’t someone who flies through the air or someone who has super speed. A hero is simply a person who inspires you to be great. Jose Luis Andalon son of an immigrant, migrant worker from Mexico is very hard working. He is 39 years old and short. He is the baby boy of six kids and was born in Salinas, California then moved to Gonzales, California. Luis Andalon, my dad inspires me to work hard and never stop working hard no matter what.
A hero is someone you look up to, someone who has done something to inspire you, someone who is your role model. In our society, there are many different types of heroes—family, friends, teachers, firefighters, and police officers to name a few. But a hero that stands out to me is a U.S. soldier. Soldiers risk their lives every day just so we can have our freedom.
Hero. Usually when this word is heard we think of Superman, Batman, Iron man and so on, but in reality what exactly is a hero? Who can be classified as heroic? From my perspective a hero is not only someone who wears a cape, has superhuman strength, wears fancy clothes or someone who saves his lady from the bad guy; however he is someone who stands for strength, bravery, humbleness, justice and equality. I believe a hero is someone who truly intends to make the world a better place for all people. He stands for what he believes in even though he may encounter danger and obstacle. We often watch movies with action heroes fighting for a good cause, but these heroes cause us ignore the real life heroes such as Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr are genuinely the definition of a hero.
Heroes are ordinary people who do unbelievable things. Heroes are people who stand up for what they know is right no matter the consequences. Most of all, heroes are men and women who see an opportunity for change and seize it. They use these opportunities to not only make things right, but to make things happen.
