Do you think America is a bully to other countries. America is thought to be a bully to canada and Mexico . Pat Morra the author of The border a glare of truth believes she has to give up her heritage and who she is to fit in with other americans. Canadian author Margaret Atwood wrote “Through the One Way Mirror” and Says Americans are taking over the canadas things. Although Margaret says she has met some nice Americans, the truth is America should be feared because try to take others land or property that does not belong to them, they leave places messy and do not care about anyone else, and they think every American has to be the same in order to fit in. Although Margaret says some are nice, but most americans are rude and disrespectful. Americans leave their stuff where it doesn't belong, for example the regatta river float 2016 in havasu Nevada was closed after ten years due to the amount of trash left behind after the rampage that went on that weekend. We Like to single out people who are different than what most people think is an average American witch is wrong! Most Countries see America as very overbearing and overwhelming, American likes to buy things and take them if it”s not …show more content…
Margaret Atwood states we like to just have fun then leave it when we are done “The Canadians are the folk in the neat little bungalow, with the tidy little garden and the duck pond.” (172) Canadians are really clean and neat compared to the Americans we like to be unorganized and messy. It's the quit opposite for the americans “The americans are the other folks, the ones in the sprawling mansion with the bad taste statues on the lawn, there's a perpetual party or something going on, loud Music, raucous laughter, smoke billowing from the barbeque. Beer bottle and coke cans land among the peonies.” As you can see Americans are WAYYYYY messier than Canadians without a
Finally, if the comparison were ever made a survey, it would really show the full scale of Americanization in Canada. But until now we can only see from the daily life, how American culture is inviting Canada. Today more then ever, Canadians are in real danger of loosing their national identity. It is unfortunate that if the study of this cultural influence will be done few years later, it might be too late to save Canadian culture and identity.
As stronger nations exercise their control over weaker ones, the United States try to prove their authority, power and control over weaker nations seeing them as unable to handle their own issues thereby, imposing their ideology on them. And if any of these weaker nations try to resist, then the wrath of the United States will come upon them. In overthrow the author Stephen Kinzer tells how Americans used different means to overthrow foreign government. He explains that the campaign & ideology of anti- communism made Americans believe that it was their right and historical obligation to lead forces of good against those of iniquity. They also overthrew foreign government, when economic interest coincided with their ideological ones (kinzer.215). These factors were the reasons behind America’s intervention in Iran, Guatemala, South Vietnam and Chile to control and protect multinational companies as well as the campaign against communism with little or no knowledge about these countries.
1. What is the argument of Ronald Takaki’s A Different Mirror: A History of Multicultural America? How does Takaki make that argument?
Ronald Takaki is one of the foremost-recognized scholars of multicultural studies and holds a PhD. in American History from the University of California, Berkeley. As a professor of Ethnic Studies at the same university, he wrote A Different Mirror: a History of Multicultural America as a fantastic new telling of our nation’s history. The book narrates the composition of the many different people of the United States of America.
In conclusion, Canada was influenced throughout the 1920's by America, that by 1929 Canada became very similar to America in social trends, economics and produce. But has this stopped in modern day era? Canada continues to be heavily influenced by the amount of American products and media outpouring into Canada. Canada has made attempts throughout time to impede the onslaught of American invasion but American invasion is seen on a huge global scale. Hit movies, tv shows, products among others are generally based on American culture, views, or based within American domain. It is a reign yet to be stopped.
The imperialist spirit of the United States was inherited from England after the U.S. broke away from its mother country in 1775. The young country wanted to spread its ways of living across its landscape, creating defined boarders on both sides that separated it from its English predecessors. Thus America’s New Frontier was born. America built up its imperialistic nature throughout the 19th century and on into the 20th century, flexing its muscles and establishing itself as a new world superpower. The modern United States no longer finds land to claim, but instead is involved with a Cultural Imperialism, which has affected how other countries around the world feel about the United States.
The culture of Canada refers to the shared values, attitudes, standards, and beliefs that are a representative of Canada and Canadians. Throughout Canada's history, its culture has been influenced by American culture because of a shared language, proximity, television and migration between the two countries. Over time, Canadian-American relations have helped develop Canada’s identity during the years 1945-1982; thus introducing changing social norms, media and entertainment. In support of this, due to the United States being approximately 9.25 times larger in population and having the dominant cultural and economic influence, it played a vital role in establishing Canada’s identity. With Canada being its neighbour, naturally, the United States would influence their way of life upon Canada.
In this situation, the author uses the emotional appeal of pathos as well as logos, to logically explain how arrogance of power affects the thoughts and actions of American travelers. According to Fulbright, “Foreigners frequently comment… in our own country, they say, we are hospitable and considerate, but as soon as we get outside our own borders something seems to get into us and wherever we are we become noisy and demanding and we strut around as if we owned the place “ (3). In many countries, American companies have a strong presence in the economy and American hotels and restaurants are available to protect and cater to American travelers. In some instances, the American military may be stationed in a country or at the very least, its population may be aware that their survival is dependent on the “wisdom with which American uses her immense military power” (Fulbright 3). Therefore, when an American travels, he or she may unconsciously be affected by this knowledge as were “Greeks and Romans, …Spaniards, Germans, and Englishmen, in the brief high noons of their respective ascendancies” (Fulbright
competitive, and the compassion we bring to others are some, of many, American characteristics that help set us apart. These are the three characteristics that I have chosen to write about.
America bashing is not warranted in the world, it is based on loose facts that have been manipulated. America is blamed as the source of all the world’s problems because it is seen as the most prominent country. Through the analysis of two works- Richard Neville’s Oh Say, Can’t You See? and Chris Middencorp’s God Diss America- this paper will prove this to be the case.

Not letting in races they saw as trouble, or mentally ill people who might tarnish the exceptionalism. We are a nation that hails the Bill of Rights as one of the greatest documents. People don’t seem to realize how many of those guaranteed freedoms have been altered by a government that no longer works for the people. It can be argued that every nation probably feels that they are the exceptional one. It is easy to see why so many American feel that America is the greatest, because it is something that we have been told our entire lives. If we look at America through the lenses that have been provided for us then America really is the best and superior. If those glasses are removed it is easily seen that American exceptionalism is nothing but a myth.
The American people can 't handle criticism, because that shines light on the fact that America is not perfect and that 's a truth that many here in America have extreme difficulty facing. When you tell an American what to do, every bone in their body wants to do the opposite of what you want because they feel that they are too important to be listening to the likes of any one but themselves. We don 't like being told what to do; we have about the same mentality as a teenager whose parents told him or her not to go hang out with his or her friends, but he or she does it anyway. Attitude and stubbornness are a dangerous combination, and when you put the two together you get some very interesting people and a great

No nation wants to be on young, powerful, and righteous America’s bad side. Among Americas notable inventions are atomic bombs, baseball, weapons, and Jazz. America is one of the only two countries in the world with Naval Super carrier ships, the only country with operatable super carrier ships. America has weapons that quite a few nations want, a sport that’s competitive to play, and a form of entertainment that is practically the epitome of one of Americas most important attributes; freedom. History has proven over time that the arrogance of a country can be its greatest down fall. America has risen to became a great power in a short period of time, but their contagious ways could become its potential downfall from their own arrogant ways. The author's use of logos helps define the article by the means of describing the faults that he sees with America's arrogant ways. The world sees Americans differently and this changes depending on, if we are at home or abroad. The evidence is in the past, in that America is at a crossroad and should evaluate this necessary arrogance before it collapses.
