Carter Marcano Ms. Tindall Eng IV Pd 4 2 May 2016 Climate Change Introduction Our society is riddled with countless problems that are causing discussions and debates around the world. One of the most important problems is crucial to focus on and it is climate change or “the greenhouse effect.” The greenhouse effect is a serious problem that is destroying the planet and its atmosphere. Rules and regulations need to be made if want future generations the have a place to call home. What is climate change? The Earth’s average temperature has risen one and a half degrees over the past 100 years, and the temperature is expected to rise about .5 to 8.6 degrees. The small changes in temperature can cause a devastating effect on the planet 's climate and weather patterns. The predominant factors resulting in the warming of the earth are the emissions of CO2 and deforestation. CO2, which damages the ozone layer, comes from several sources, but the most problematic are those coming from the burning of fossil fuels from power plants. This releases thousands of tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere every year. Another cause of these emissions is the burning of gasoline for transportation, which continues to increase because of our …show more content…
Threats of global warming include: rising sea level, lost endangered species, climate change and deadly storm events. We have already seen the causes of global warming. The solutions listed below can bring down the carbon emissions up to much extent We are already seeing the effects of global warming around the world as climate change, melting of glaciers, droughts and diseases. The real problem is the pollution produced from industries, vehicles and power plants. The solutions listed below require tough laws and regulations that require firm deadlines for global warming pollution
Global warming has been going on for one to two centuries now. It has affected the earth a lot and not only that , it has also affected the air. Global warming has consequences as stated before , and it usually happens with solar and terrestrial radiation. Even though people believe that all of this is caused by humans. Scientists believe that global warming was going to be caused by sickness or in other words by diseases but it turns out that they were wrong. Not everyone believes that global weather is a bad thing but they just haven’t realized how bad it has affected us. As long as global warming is around the temperatures will keep on rising, animals will keep on decreasing, and the atmosphere will keep on trapping heat. That’s what global warming is all about. It’s all about warming up the atmosphere and affecting those around them.
Climate change is a growing issue with the rise in industrial, commercial, and personal usage of energy. The burning of such things such as oil, coal and natural gases create toxic pollutants called “greenhouse gases.” The largest and most prevalent of greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide. (Overview of Greenhouse Gases). The wasteful history humanity has exhibited is deadly to the progression of our Earth. There are many things humanity can do in order to delay the inevitable warming of our planet and to prevent human-generated effects. Knowledge on the subject can significantly increase the awareness and subsequently improve the outcome of a global effort put forth by society. All that needs to be done, is to recognize our impact and how we can make a difference.
One of the biggest environmental impacts which is steadily increasing in severity due to fossil fuel usage is global warming. Global warming is mainly caused due to the trapping of heat in the atmosphere due to increased amounts of carbon dioxide. Because of the burning of fossil fuels, there has been a twenty five percent increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere over the last 150 years (Clean Energy). This increase over the years has caused the global average surface temperature to raise ...
One of the most compelling and difficult environmental problems society faces today is climate change. People do not realize how much the environment has changed for the worse in the last ten years, until they are told that the last two decades of the 20th century have been the hottest in the last 400 years, according to climate studies (Conserve Energy Future). Today, the carbon dioxide levels have reached 396.81 parts per million (ppm). “Carbon dioxide (CO2) has also increased over the last 100 years-- from about 300 ppm to 370 ppm. Interestingly, the majority of these additions have occurred in the last 50 years, when temperature increases have been the slowest” (geocraft).
As we human beings have entered the Anthropocene, a new geological epoch dominated by humanity. The relentless pressure we have put on our planet has increased daily at a speedy pace, which has resulted in an unprecedented destabilization of climate change. What’s worse, our disagreement with climate change has left the planet in an even more dangerous crisis. The economic imbalance between the developed countries and the developing countries, lack of the awareness of sustainable development and are the two main obstacles stand on the way. In order to solve these problems respectively, we should take actions towards sharing and exchange of natural resources between rich and poor and regard climate change as a common first priority, and promoting the realization of the responsibility for sustainable development as a precaution for the future climate change.
The commonly debated “greenhouse effect” refers to “the global-average temperature increase that has been observed over the last one hundred years or more” (Spencer). President Barack Obama addressed the issue as an effort to highlight its severity, "We have to all shoulder the responsibility for keeping the planet habitable, or we’re going to suffer the consequences – together” (Leader). The earth’s increasing atmospheric and oceanic temperatures result in climate changes due to cumulative amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere.
Damage to human health, severe stress on forests, wetlands, and other natural habitats, and how fish will be affected. Global warming is a serious problem that will affect our generation when we are older. In talking about global warming, we need to learn what causes the greenhouse effect. Rays from the sun are taken up and absorbed by water vapor that is naturally in the atmosphere. The United States emits the largest man-made greenhouse gases in the world.
Global heating and cooling has occurred on a cycle for millennia, however in the past thirty years the increased use of energy and fuels by humans has drastically changed this natural occurrence (Juerg, 2007). The largest cause of this warming is the release of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide levels are twenty-five percent higher than they were in 1957 (UCS, 2013). This seemingly insignificant change has caused a myriad of negative effects. The endangerment of species, rising sea levels, and increased natural disasters are just a few examples of change brought about by global warming (Juerg, 2007).
The burning of fossil fuels has greatly harmed our environment and is a leading cause as to why climate change has become such a threat to our way of living. In May of 2013, the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere reached 400 parts per million, an increase of more than 40 percent since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. This could cause the Arctic Ocean to be nearly ice-free during the summer by 2020(Overland and Wang, 2013).
Global warming is one of the biggest threats to human kind. It is caused by the raising of earths temperature in the lower atmosphere. Since the industrial revolution the temperature has gone up by 1 degree Fahrenheit of what it has averaged to be for centuries. Doesn't sound like much and your right, but for every degree it goes up already 500 feet of snow won't fall. As in our earth is heating.
As we approach the future we are faced with many global problems. Most of these problems arise because we have caused them ourselves. We need to face these problems and find a solution. Global warming, although most often overlooked in importance, is a crucial problem of the future directly related to human activities. Global warming is caused by gases humans release into the atmosphere called anthropogenic gases and by deforestation. Anthropogenic gases include carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofl...
This paper examines the factors that led to the climate change and environmental threat particularly air pollution and also identifies the roles of the Chinese government in resolving the environmental crisis. Every single day, globalization is keeping moving forward and makes human unpredictable what will happen in the future include human security. As in the case of climate change, as the same thing occurred to human security threats because they related each other. The rapid in industrialization, the gradually growth of economics and the globalization in China contributing to the factors of environmental crisis and climate change to their society. Consequently, these transformations gave the negative impact on human security which is in economically, domestically, agriculturally and the most important thing is the health of human. Therefore, those issues will be challenges to the policy makers of the Chinese government to identify the suitable policy to implement and also find a way to confront these issues as a responds to the resolving the environmental crisis and climate change.
Have you seen the effects of climate change yet? Climate change is the transformation of our weather and global patterns. Climate change doesn’t happen overnight; in fact, the change of the climate takes years to see. Fossil fuels are one reason our climate is changing for the worst because fossil fuels create Carbon Dioxide. Deforestation is a cause of climate change because we have less trees to produce oxygen. Increasing our waste is destroying most of our forestland. Climate change is causing our Arctic animals to go extinct. The amount of water we use is causing droughts. There are many causes and effects of climate change; however, there are many solutions we can fix today.
Global warming could be extremely harmful for our earth and could potentially lead to the extinction of the human race. It is mainly caused by the release of greenhouse gases and deforestation is also contributing to the warming of our earth. Global warming is already starting to kick in, crops are beginning to dry out and weather patterns are changing, while global warming could also cause many people and big companies to struggle financially. People should be made aware of this problem and we should try avoid using fossil fuels.
Global Warming One of the most substantial problems in the world today is global warming. This gradual warming of the earth is in occurrence at an extremely slow rate but it is happening. Many scientists believe that as human’s work and release greenhouse gases into the earth’s atmosphere, it can become dangerous for the long lasting life of humans and our environment. “Unless we take immediate action, the impacts of global warming will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly and damaging, and increasingly affect the entire planet - including you, your community, and your family” (“Global Warming Impacts”).
