It was a beautiful summer morning in Sunnydale. The birds were chirping, and the butterflies were gracefully flying in the clear sky. My parents and I got in a fight, so it wasn't so great. I hit my mom, because she and my dad were yelling at me really loud. Then my mom gave me two choices: to leave the house or go to my room for a while; I decided to leave, because I don't want to be like Rapunzel in that terrible room. Right now, I am sitting on a big grey rock in the middle of a quiet, big forest. I am staring at one pretty rose in the forest. In the afternoon, I was walking back and forth, cursing at my parents. Saying things like, I wish that they were never alive. I didn't mean it, of course, because I love them, but I just was so mad.
I come home from college and see my mom cooking dinner over the stove as I walk up the stairs. My tiredness sets in as I rush to my room to put down my heavy bag. My mom yells to me as I start to change my clothes.
I’m not sure but, I think I was still in what the kids call “the dumb hallway”. After a few months a new student came and we became good friends. We had a lot of thing that we liked, she always dragged me around to people and she was slowly pulling me out of my shell. I was becoming so happy. After a few months, I was in my room and I was thinking back about my life. There were a few tears and I was thinking to myself, what I was doing. I came to realize I didn’t have it bad as other people; I wasn’t the only one that was lonely. I went to sleep after that I found out it was 6:00 so, what I did was went down stairs and went to my garage. I went down there because, there was a punching bag sitting there to relive my stress. After, hour my grandma came down and said to
I walked in and my stomach made a flip-flop like riding “The Scream” at Six Flags. Everyone was staring at me! With their curios eyes and anxious to know who I was. I froze like ice and felt the heat rise through my face. My parents talked to my teacher, Ms.Piansky. Then my mom whispered “It’s ti...
The grass was wet and cold. I woke up and Mother was at her new job working for the Barclays Bank and I walked out of my room which was red walls with white carpet. I went down the stairs and walked outside and the grass was wet it had rained that night and I didn’t notice I must've slept through it. It was 10 degrees outside and it made the grass cold and wet. I enjoyed this very much. I laid down and watched the sunset fade away and I felt good laying in the grass. I eventually had to get up and Mother came home for lunch and I had a strawberry milkshake and two clementines. I noticed that Mother was not talking very much and then I saw tears form in her eyes.
The night before, I didn’t practice my English so I knew what to say. By now, I knew most of the words, so I would just let my heart guide me. Besides, my cramped old house, which is actually just a junky garage in an abandoned alley, is too small to let out my feelings. Once I got to school after a cold walk in the snow, I placed myself by her locker and waited. Fourteen minutes had gone by, and still no sign of Lily. I only had a minute to get to class now, so I hurriedly collected myself and ran to my locker. I was disappointed, knowing that without Lily here, it would be the hardest day of school. I opened my locker and to my surprise a note fell to the floor. I quickly picked it up and gazed at the neat handwriting that clearly spelled my name.
“Mykell!Wake up my mom said.We are going to Disney. When I heard that I got right up.Running to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Then I said MOM I am almost ready. While I was packing my bag I was thinking how much fun we were going to have, but I did not know what kind of adventure we are going to have. Starting to run to the car I noticed that I was the only one almost at the car.
Arriving in the small parking lot, I instantly hopped off from my mom’s old brown car. Getting hit with a breeze of fresh air outside, smelling the wet grass, hearing the bees buzz near the blue trash cans, causes my heart to start beating fast like popcorn being microwaved. Moving my head as if I was an owl, searching for my mom, “mom can I go play” repeatedly like a broken record, she responds, “yes, go ahead!” Jumping with glee, sprinting like a cheetah on the black pavement leading to my favorite playground I called “The Yellow one.” Then, as I left my head up my eyes began to open wide.
On that fateful day in March, I was a couple months shy of my third birthday. My family and I lived in New Mexico at the time and were renting a house with an outdoor in-ground pool. The day was beautiful. I was outside with my oldest sister Rachel and my father. Rachel was diligently reading curled up on a bench that sat against the house, and my father was mowing the backyard. My mother and my other sister were in the house. Off to one side of the house there was a group of large bushes. I was playing over there with one of her large cooking pots, off in my own little world. At one point while amusing and en...
grabbed a few things and left the kitchen. Before leaving the house I grew up in, I grabbed the note i wrote to my mom and threw it away. If she doesn't have the decency to tell me where she is than neither do I. While walking through the living room, I look over to see that the television was left on. It was on some news channel, they described a girl who was found murdered in an alleyway. The thought of something happening like that so close to where I am terrified me. Turning off the television, I quickly make my way to the front porch. Making sure to lock the door, I stepped out of the house.
When we got in the library it was freezing in there I got the chills and goosebumps that’s how cold it was, the older three got library cards and the younger three were playing on the computers they had there. I was being awkward and just read a book that wasn’t for interesting so I just searched for another book Heading Home and got it checked out from my sisters library card, for lunch we went to subway and then went back to the library and sat there for a few more hours and then left. When we got back to the apartment I was so grateful for the AC, but I had to get back in the heat because I walked with Macole to take Zeus out and I get how he can go outside with all that fur on him in like 90˚ weather like I would by sweating like someone would if they were standing by a volcano that just erupted. When we got in the house my sister told us to get our bathing suites on we were going swimming at Saylorville and when we got there we realized that we forgot sunscreen we were very smart when we realize it because we were already burned and the sunscreen was in the food cabinet like oh my
After we got sandwiches at Subway, we left through the doors that lead to the big hallway that leads to other stores because we needed to go to Boscovs. When my mom told me where we were going, I rushed ahead to it. When I got there I saw something I wanted and since I didn’t understand money, I turned around to ask my mom if I could have it, but I didn’t see what I wanted to see.
I went upstairs and tried to do something natural in the mirror and looked to see if it was cool. It was shocking. Not only did it look cool my brother gave me a compliment which was like a once in a lifetime thing. I zipped up the jacket up and down and poked the spikes like the moon falling on the Himalayas. I went downstairs to play with my dog Brownie. We rolled around and played in the grass. I was making bird noises and Brownie bit my sleeve. No blood, but there was an L shaped tear. “Stupid dog,” I murmured.
It was the second semester of fourth grade year. My parents had recently bought a new house in a nice quite neighborhood. I was ecstatic I always wanted to move to a new house. I was tired of my old home since I had already explored every corner, nook, and cranny. The moment I realized I would have to leave my old friends behind was one of the most devastating moments of my life. I didn’t want to switch schools and make new friends. Yet at the same time was an interesting new experience.
It’s Halloween and I had gotten back from trick or treating hours ago but I still sat in my costume. Mom had taken me trick or treating because dad had to work late. He always has to work late. I was planning to stay up as long as I had to until he got home. Mom had tried to coerce me out of my costume but I had held my ground, daddy just has to see me in my costume. Mom had tried to explain that he could see me tomorrow. But I countered in that it wouldn’t be the same or as special. He has to see me in my costume on Halloween or it just doesn’t count. Finally she gave up and said goodnight, probably t...
It was December 4, 2014 and it was snowing outside. I was sitting at the kitchen table doing homework. All my family was downstairs, so I was all alone. My English teacher told us to write a paper about how I am different from my classmates. I was thinking about what in my life makes me different and slowly my whole life was playing like a movie in my head. The first memory that popped into my head was my fourth birthday party. It was supposed to be the best birthday ever. My dad was going to come. It was February 24, 2002 at my birthday party. There were so many people there, but I was so focused on my dad coming, no one else seemed to matter. My cake was pink and yellow with a bicycle on it. I had a red and blue inflatable that kids were
