When we think of terrorist, we might think of radical Islamic individuals or groups who would take pride in killing anyone who is not Muslim. Even more, there are antagonistically people who want nothing more but to destroy the lives of innocence people because of their belief system. Take an individual like Theodore Kaczynski for instance; he was a former University of California at Berkeley math professor. Otherwise known as the “Unabomber,” he was indeed a terrorist because he used explosives that killed three people and wounded eighteen others in a span of almost two decades. Even more, his brother David Kaczynski was responsible for his capture.
Terrorism can be generally defined as using threats or actions to intimidate a certain nation; most of the time it is just to induce fear on those nations. In the novel, terrorism is used in this way. It’s a word used a lot within the novel and its important to mention because each side claims the other to be terrorist.

Islamic terrorists are estimated to comprise approximately 10% of the Muslim population, which is equivalent to 160 million out of 1.6 billion people. A terrorist is defined as a person who engages in violence and the infliction of fear in order to gain something either for themselves or for their people. Most Muslims are not terrorists. It is stereotypical to deduce that all Islamic people are involved terrorist groups, however, there are many people who are involved in these groups. Islamic terrorist groups use religion to justify their violent movement by claiming that their religion is the only just religion, strictly following religious leaders and sacred texts, and preserving their aboriginal religious beliefs.

The documentary Young, Muslim and French highlights events that happened in France beginning in September 2004. The documentary takes us through the decision of France banning the traditional headscarves for the Muslims in public schools. The law is taken as an “Islamophobia” form of an expression. And is not considered democratic to the Islamic citizens. The documentary displays the frustrations, hopes, as well as political ambitions of the next generation of the French Muslims, people who were born as French citizens and who make explorations of their potentials to change the national identity of France.
From the beginning of colonization, the French disliked the native Algerians’ Islamic religion and they tried to eliminate it all together. The french thought they could do so by introducing more French culture into their society. By doing so, French culture was thoroughly integrated and it made Islamic culture almost obsolete. Though the other French settlers approved of the assimilation of the Algerians and them being granted citizenship, most disagreed with any action attempting to give equal rights to the Muslims. By the end of the nineteenth century, the people of the Muslim majority were considered second-class citizens in comparison to those of the European minority. This was because of colonial policies passed by the French. Other laws also looked down upon Muslim Algerians. They were defined as "subjects" and unless they agreed to cease following Islamic laws, they would not be considered citizens (A...
Their religion was hijacked by the attack. Like I previously mentioned, we many do not seem to stop and realize that our own religion might be part of terrorism. Religion should not matter when we look at a person because there are two kinds of people in the world, the good and the bad. If we all had to look at the flaws in everyone’s beliefs and religions we would probably come to the conclusion that we aren’t all terrorists but some people with the same beliefs as us, might be. We tend to find the bad in something and associate it with everything else that is somehow connected to it.
Over the past century, terrorism has advanced from random killings to enormous plans for terrorist groups. To understand terrorism, you must first define it. Terrorism as we all know it is hard to define and understand, and has many different definitions as it is used widely. The word "terrorism" stems from the word "terror", which means to instill fear in. People become terrorists when they take the actions towards instilling fear and terror upon people to prove a certain point or agenda.
“Terrorist is a person who uses violent and intimidating methods in the pursuit of political aims; esp. a member of a clandestine or expatriate organization aiming to coerce an established government by acts of violence against it or its subjects” (Oxford English Dictionary). Terrorist is generally considered to be derogatory and therefore has a negative connotation. For this reason, those who approve of the individuals actions use the terms partisan and freedom fighter to show a slightly more positive association. Conversely, “revolutionary is defined as relating to, characterized by, or of the nature of political revolution; involving or constituting radical change.
Terrorism is the bug of 21 century. Throughout history it has appeared in many various ways: hijacked planes, ships, trains. But never was terrorism committed in such a terrible way as on Tuesday, September 11 in New York City. This tragedy affected us all.
The concept of terrorism is exceedingly difficult to define. Author Gerald Seymour first said in his book Harry’s Game that, “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter”. Each individual may view terrorism in a different light. Because of this, there is currently no universal definition of terrorism. However, in recent years, it has become increasingly more important to form a definition of terrorism, especially while working in the media.
It is interesting how everyone has their opinion on who terrorists can be when in reality anyone can be a terrorist. A terrorist is someone who will harm another individuals life over their beliefs. It can be anyone of any race, gender and religion. People will go to such extremes over a different religion and ideology. This topic can be arguable because people classify terrorists differently.
terrorist is to not kill the individuals who die during the attack, but to affect the society it directly attacks through violence.
