Is community necessary to support the educational mission? I believe it is. Community is what allows us to make connections with one another. Most people I know, including myself, have a desire to be connected to others.
The therapeutic model differs in the education system than in other dimensions of my life. Intimacy is a form of love I only allow myself to become vulnerable with a few people in my life. I share myself in deeper connections in hopes to be truly accepted by my loved one. This model looks differently in the education system. The therapeutic model calls me to be intimate with others in order to gain a community. If I allowed the vulnerability of intimacy to become a normal part of communication with my colleagues the way I

Community is like a Venn diagram. It is all about relations between a finite group of people or things. People have their own circles and, sometimes, these circles overlap one another. These interceptions are interests, common attitudes and goals that we share together. These interceptions bond us together as a community, as a Venn diagram. A good community needs good communication where people speak and listen to each other openly and honestly. It needs ti...
Education has begun to be taken for granted, not realizing what an impact it has on culture. In the television show Community, the view of education differs in many of the characters. There are both positive and negative stereotypes revealed throughout the show which were discussed in a way so that the issues present could be changed. Even though the show Community is presented as a comedy, with many mishaps, it presents education as something which is important and should be treasured. Education in our culture is many times underappreciated, looked at as an entitlement rather than a privilege; however, Community, forces the audience to reexamine education and why such a high value is placed on it in our culture.
The advancement in health care and biomedical technology has made biomedical model that focuses just on curing the disease as the dominant approach. It excludes emotional, social, psychological and behavioral aspects of illness. However with increase in chronic disease and need for long term care, the healthcare delivery systems are changing, making it more patient centric. The health practices are gradually focusing on design of treatment plans based on patents narratives.
The medical model was developed for the practice of medicine, many of its characteristics are being used in different health disciplines (Kielhofner, 2009, p. 235). Including the Occupational therapy profession. As a client-centered profession, it is vital to learn all you can about your clients. However, before an individual becomes a client to an OT. He/ she was a patient. As the word client and patient are used interchangeably, it is important to know the differences between the words. It is apparent when talking about health and illness the term patient always chosen. As these individuals are seeking for professional medical treatment due to their diseases.
The Deaf Community in Relation to the Medical Model and the Social Model Introduction The Social Model and the Medical Model both are bodies with the primary aim of aiding and uplifting the Deaf Community, however, the two models have different ways in which they communicate this aim across, as well as achieve their objectives. The models are also distinct in the fact that they do not view the Deaf community in the same way nor do they place emphasis and focus on the same things. Many practices across the globe have strict prohibitions against having any intimate relationship with any sort of client. Mixing emotion and intense connection between that of a therapist and a client is extremely dangerous. If anything, negative were to occur during said relationship, things such as suicide or loss of will to succeed will come into fruition. Abstaining from personal relationships like these limits any negative fallouts per said realm of dual
Community: Local communities expect and require that students be prepared for employment and leadership and they provide support for families and students who are in need of assistance. If the implement of this new educational policy brings positive impact on local economy, the communities will be willing to support it.
School is important to every student that attends a community college or a university. Whatever institute it is, the student should learn how to prepare in advance and always pay close attention the teacher when they assign the assignments. It could be the smallest information given to the class but it will always matter when you are awake at two in the morning wondering what was the piece of information he shouted out in class that day.
Due to the many meanings of the word community, people have learned to substitute community for other words. Most of the definitions are common has in a society linked by common interests but, would you really say a buffalo community? Of course not, you would say a herd of buffalo. Unfortunately, community is really only used if someone were to be talking about where people live. Even the meanings of community don’t announce themselves when people use the word. Working with a service agency (YouVote), community is used quite a bit. We worked a lot with the community of Michigan Sate University. Would Michigan State University students all have common interests? We all have the common interest to come here but, not common degrees, or classes. If it’s different at MSU would it be different everywhere else?
By home community I mean their sense of place; whether that is the small town where they are originally from, or the reserve they grew up on, or where they currently live. Where you come from makes up a large part of who you are, and I feel that in order to create a community you need to know where everyone is from. I feel this is especially important for the Aboriginal or minority students as where they come from could have a completely different culture than other students in the classroom. If everyone in the classroom is able to have an understanding as to where their classmates come from then they will have a better understanding of their class-mates and hopefully this understanding will help to combat the effects of racism, or bulling in the
Biomedical therapy is when a person is given medication to help treat their disorder, except it's more for management of the symptoms as it doesn't cure the disorder ("Module 14.2: Types of Treatment"., n.d.). However, not all people using biomedical therapy are also use psychotherapy or vice versa. Psychotherapy is more focused on personal growth to overcome problems ("Module 14.2: "Types of Treatment"., n.d.). I personally believe that what is most effective depends on the person. Some people only need psychotherapy where others may only need a biomedical solution and others need both. There isn't a right answer for every single person as there's so many variables to consider when seeking treatment.
Right now I am learning how to effectively expand my micro system in order to fulfill the support that I need to live an effective life. Nothing has ever come easy to me on an emotional level of intimacy, and exploring why this occurs can be a nature vs nurture type of dilemma that so many like myself face. By teaching our you’re an interdisciplinary approach in the education system really prepares them for a life beyond the confines of their home life, making it easier to adjust to different system than what they are accustomed to.

Anin Utigaard and Dr. Janet Edgette use two theories, person-centered child therapy and adolescent family therapy with children in two video sessions respectively. The therapies are highly impactful yet differ in important respects. Person-centered approaches seek to honor the client by supporting them in their self-exploration. Adolescent family therapy strives to strengthen the family system through encouragement of member’s feelings and contributions. These therapies and tools are viable strategies for use by professional school counselors.
