The Bermuda Triangle, a mysterious, dangerous place where ships sink without a trace, where planes disappear, and where people go missing… All of these things happen, and why do they? What’s with the hundreds of missing planes and sunken ships with no trace? There are many theories surrounding the Bermuda Triangle, some crazy, some not. Before we get into theories though, I need explain about the Bermuda Triangle a little. The Bermuda Triangle itself is a massive area, roughly over 500,000 sq. miles in just surface area. The “Triangle” is a span of water that’s border is a triangle between Florida, Puerto Rico, and the island of Bermuda. Since the Bermuda Triangle connects these three places and is so large, it is

Not quite. Though there have been many tales and and crazy theories surrounding the Bermuda Triangle, many scientists have come up with more reasonable explanations such as meso-meteorological storms, for instance. Meso-meteorological storms, unexpected weather fronts that rise up extremely quickly, are very common in this area of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic ocean. These storms can cause sudden hurricanes or water spouts that will capsize a ship or down a plane before a signal of distress can be sent, explaining many “unexplainable” disappearances. Scientists also blame some of these ship sinkings on ancient methane gas pockets underneath the sea floor. Sudden explosions can cause “sinkholes” in the water, causing a ship to suddenly capsize and sink to the ocean floor with practically no debris. One good way explain the mystery of how Flight 19 became lost is that the Bermuda Triangle is one of the few places where polar North lines up perfectly with magnetic North, which can cause a compass to spin. Because in the mid 1900’s many planes had mostly a compass to rely on for navigation, this can cause a pilot to fly completely off course with no idea they’re doing it. Also, even though it seems like this is an abnormally large amount of accidents, it really isn’t considering how many ships and planes make this voyage every day. Like all well traveled areas, there are bound to be some accidents. It only seems abnormal because even though we hear a lot about how many people have gone missing and how many ships have sunk, we don’t hear about the hundreds of planes and ships that made the journey completely
The 1917 Explosion in Halifax Harbor was one of the most powerful explosions in history. The author explains this very clearly in the text. First, you can tell that it was a very powerful explosion because of the title “The Shattered Sky”. Before the Explosion she expressed that, “the two towns were buzzing with activity” (Lewis, 6). This means the two towns were very normal and busy. Lewis also says, “soft smoked curled the chimneys as mothers served up steaming bowls of oatmeal. Children gathered their school books, and fathers pulled on their coats and headed off to work.” (Lewis, 6). In that quote, Lewis is painting a descriptive picture to show us what’s going on.
In the scholarly journal, “The Bermuda Triangle Mysteries: An Explanation Based on the Diffraction of Heat Waves (2000)”, physicist Ernest C. Njau claims that the mysteries noted in the Bermuda region may be accounted by the Eastward-moving heat waves along the Earth’s surface as they cause changes in the weather and ocean patterns that could play a big role in the disappearances over the Bermuda Triangle. Njau provides the readers with another credible possibility that could be responsible for the disappearances and mysterious lost ships and planes in the Bermuda region in order to prove that paranormal phenomena may not be the cause behind these sudden disappearances. The research cited explains that the Eastward-moving heat waves along the Earth’s surface “to a large extent, account for the mysteries already noted in the Bermuda region” (Njau). In the academic journal, “Hydrates Represent Gas Source, Drilling Hazard”, senior researcher in geology and associate professor Elchin Bagirov and senior geophysicist Ian Lerche, purport that the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle can actually be explained by the phenomenon of hydrate crystals ruling out paranormal phenomenon. Bagirov and Lerche cite a variety of diagrams that they claim show the special properties of hydrate crystals and their effects to indicate their relationship with the mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft in the Bermuda Triangle. The authors provide a scientific and rational explanation for the numerous mysteries of missing ships and aircraft in the Bermuda Triangle in order to persuade the readers that the mysteries surrounding the Bermuda Triangle can be explained by actual scientific
Did you know that many airplanes crash every year and it is not an uncommon occurrence. Most plane crashes are either caused by mechanical failure or by pilots. Depending on the severity of the crash usually shows the outcome of survivors. Out of almost all of the flights that have crashed this year, a flight now only known as Flight 370 was very unusual. On March 8, 2014, a tragic event has happened. An airliner that departed from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing had mysteriously disappeared. The plane was a Malaysia Airlines flight numbered 370 that carried 239 passengers. The plane model used by almost all airlines was a Boeing 777. The plane was heading north towards Beijing when the plane turned around
This devastating disaster is important because the Titanic changed sea travel forever. Lifeboat laws have changed, communication with passenger ships have changed, and the design of ships have changed. I hope that you learned more about the background of the Titanic, the Collision and Sinking, and the aftermath of the Titanic. The tragedy of the Titanic happened 103 years ago and is still remembered, and always will
The Bermuda Triangle (the Devil’s Triangle), is a stretch of the Atlantic Ocean bordered by a line from Florida, to the islands of Bermuda, to Puerto Rico and then back to Florida. It is well known for all the mysterious things that happen within it. It got its name from a news article written by VIncent H. Gaddis in 1964. He claimed that in that part of the Atlantic ocean, a large amount of ships and planes have went missing without any explanation. He wasn’t the first to claim something about that area, but he gave it the name. The first major story about the Bermuda Triangle was when the USS Cyclops went missing in 1911. It is the most famous ship lost in the Bermuda Triangle. It served has a collier for the U.S Navy during World War 1. It was on its way from Bahia, Salvador to Baltimore, Maryland. The ship never made it to Baltimore. The ship could have sunk anywhere between Baltimore and Bahia. It is not proven to have sunk in the Bermuda Triangle, but that was the area they had said it sunk in.
The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil’s Triangle, is the cause of many unexplained disappearances that happened within its boundary. One of the many mysteries of the triangle is Flight 19. Five Avenger planes vanished without even a single trace. What happened to Flight 19, did aliens actually abduct the planes? Or is there another explanation as to how they disappeared?
One of the disappearances involves Flight 19. “Five Avenger torpedo bombers lifted into the air from the Naval Air Station at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at 2:10 in the afternoon” (“The Mystery”). The goal of the flight was to practice bomb runs and did not seem to be unusual. The pilots consisted of all students except for one commander whose name was Lt. Charles Taylor. However, the Charles Taylor was not familiar with the area around which they were flying. Taylor then became frustrated and confused which caused them to end up miles of course (“The Mystery”). Pilot experience when flying is important and could be the reason why a flight makes it to its destination or does not. Another disappearance involves the loss of NC16002. “NC16002 was a DC-3 passenger plane that vanished on the night of December 28, 1948, during a flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Miami, Florida” (“The Mystery”). “Investigators focused on the fact that Huber wasn’t licensed to fly in the dark, using only instruments, and that the plane had taken off from the Bahamas before sunrise” (MacGregor 38). Pilot experience and training can be seen as the reason why these flights never made it to where they were supposed to go which is explanation as to why the planes
“In total, six airplanes and 27 men appear to have vanished” (How). On December 5th of 1945, five U.S. Navy bombers went missing without a trace of why. Later a rescue plane was sent to search for the plane and the survivors, but those planes disappeared as well. That incident is one of the most famous and well known disappearances in the area (How). The Bermuda triangle is an area in the Atlantic Ocean which many people believe mysterious disappearances have taken place. It reaches Puerto Rico, Florida, and Bermuda in a triangle shape that covers approximately 500,000 square miles (History). The mysterious disappearances in the Bermuda triangle are myths as evidenced by people who travel the area safely every day, there is no scientific proof of the mysteries, and there are scientific reasons why people have disappeared.
The Bermuda Triangle, also called The Devil’s Triangle is a region defined in the western
This is an area where countless amounts of ships and or planes are said to have vanished due to odd conditions that nobody can confirm. In fact, over 1000 lives have been lost, 50 ships, and 100 airplanes have vanished here within just the last 100 years. There is large amounts of theories and reasons people have come up with to describe this phenomenon but the three most plausible ones are Methane gases being released into the water, lowering the buoyancy, electromagnetic fields messing with any electrical equipment and compases, or causing ‘time travel’, as well as natural causes such as weather. The area within the Triangle is one of the most often traveled shipping lanes and flight patterns in the world. I don’t personally believe there is any singular answer to what actual happens within the Bermuda region, but I do believe that it is a joint operation of many different factors depending on the situation at hand. As long as those theories exist, the Bermuda Triangle will remain a source of fascination and mystery until science proves

Plane crashes occur for a number of reasons. There seems to be a consensus with the general public that flying is dangerous, engines fail and planes crash. That is true some times, although the majority of plane crashes occur largely due to a combination of human error and mechanical failure. In much of aviations accidents mechanical failure has been a contributing factor. It is impossible however to blame plane crashes on one reason since events leading up to an accident are so varied. Reasoning for plane crashes can be placed in a broad number of categories.
The Bermuda Triangle only exists in the writer's imagination, it’s an area within the points of Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Florida, this region is also known as the Devil's Triangle. It caught attention when the Cyclops, a U.S. ship named after a giant in the Greek mythology explaining how large the boat was, have sunken in that within that region. Another weird famous incident was flight 19. (a torpedo bomber group wave was sent for practicing and disappeared over the region without sending a SOS signal.) The pilots were well trained to avoid incidents and crashes; however, the U.S. navy never received information to know what had happened.
In conclusion the bermuda triangle is an imaginary triangle with a deadly reputation. No explanation has been proven correct and the mystery is still to be solved. After countless events of paranomal activity being reported, it is difficult to believe that the triangle is a safe place with nothing peculiar about it, even though most researchers believe differently. The sense of mystery, publicized occurances of paranormal activity, and attention from scientists and researchers has continued to fuel interest on the matter.
The disappearance of Flight 19 and the USS Cyclones are just some of the things that occurred and are based on the Bermuda Triangle. Theories like the Methane Hydrate and others are merely assumptions made by scientists in hopes of unfolding the mystery of the Triangle, when in reality we will never know for sure what happens within the Bermuda’s itself.
