Recommended: Theories and concepts of Social Work

Theories in Social Work Theories can help explain why a problem is occurring and where the most effective intervention should take place. Theories can be obtained from research and from facts. According to Michael Tropeano “a theory is a statement backed by evidence gathered through the scientific method intended to explain something. Theoretical approaches for social work are often used to explain human behavior and serve as starting points for practice models and treatments.” Out of all the problems that Janice faces three of them stick out the most to me that I think would cause her to seek the services of a social worker. Found this to be an important problem because having a safe place for her and her children to live is essential. Without food her and her children would not be able to survive so that 's why it is an important factor. Also if Janice is to obtain work daycare is important so she knows that her children are in a safe place and taken care of while she 's away from them. If she was a seek the services of a social worker, they would be able to find her housing for her and her children also they would set her up with food assistance. A Social worker would be able to find her an after school program or daycare take care of her children while she 's away at work or in …show more content…

I feel this is important because without her health there 's no way should be able to take care of her children. If she was to seek the services of a social worker, they would be able to get her health services so she can get the help she needs to become healthy so she can take care of her children. From my cultural standpoint and from experience I would find Janice’s health and wellbeing be a major problem. In my culture we believe in strength. If Janice isn 't strong and healthy in mind and body, there 's no way she would be able to take care of her family as well as herself. Also in my culture we believe in providing for our family. I think it 's a big problem that Janice cannot provide for her family because of lack of work. Without having a job there 's no way she can put food on the table or pay for housing. Janice 's problems illustrate connections between the biological, psychological, and social systems. According to (Newman/ Newman,2015) a biological system includes all those processes necessary for this physical functioning. Janice is feeling stressed and because of that it made changes to her biological system which includes changes to her sleeping pattern and also caused her to have trouble
