James Joyce, who lived in Dublin writes about many realistic characters revealing so much detail of their lives. I will talk about three stories that unify under one theme: is paralysis. However, every individual protagonist used their own methods to express the main conflict in the story under the theme. The stories Dubliners in “Araby” about a boy who can not manage his life because of his drunk uncle who has control of the money, “A Little Cloud” who wants to be a writer ,but he always holds himself back and never moves forward towards what he wants, in “The Dead”, Gabriel was limited and reputed by his aunt. He meets lily, but he could not express his feeling to her. They have all one theme in common which is paralysis and depression. …show more content…

The struggle takes place in the north Dublin street where an unnamed boy lives. He thinks about the people who died in his house before they moved in. He falls in love with the mangan’s sister. Most of the time he always stays in front of the house just to see her leaving ,the house and then he starts to walk behind her. “At last she spoke to me. When she addressed the first words to me, I was so confused that I did not know what to answer” (Joyce 28). At last they start to take a Little, but at the same time she was in his thinking every moment. The story teller distraction is so keen that he fears that he will never get to talk to her and express that he likes her he did not know what to answer if she asks him to talk her to the event. One day Mangan’s sister asked the unnamed boy if he is planning to go to Araby since she find out that she cannot attend, so he promises him that he will buy her a gift so she can go. “My uncle said he was very sorry he had forgotten. He said he believed in the old saying: ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” (Joyce 31). “I suppose you were in love with Michael Furey, Gretta ,he said” (Joyce 248). Gabriel felt that he never loved her the same way as Michael loved her ,he felt the sadness from the tone of her voice. Yet, he feels that his marriage goes badly over the years ,he defined it as the color yellow and also the snow and ice as is the life is frozen and has no shape .”it was falling on every part of the dark central plain, on the treeless hills, falling softly upon the Bog of Allen and ,father westward, softly falling into the dark mutinous Shannon waves”(Joyce 252). Gabrial was look out of his hotel window watching the snow thinking of his wife and the conversation they had. He was to busy thinking about how she still thinking about him and absorbed mood and he start realizing that he was not her first love ,yet had never felt love form her before .Eventually, Gabriel think of loss of life converge ,in the speech he gave in his aunt party ,he start to talk about living the daydream over the memories ,that his wife can not forget the pain of Michael’s dead .Moreover, he think no mater how long we live the memoirs never forgotten .Additionally,
