Theme Of Atticus Finch Social Justice

Atticus, he is persistent, positive, truthful, serious, concerned, wise, empathetic, and reasonable. Although, which ones make him, him the utmost? Is it positivity, or wisdom, it could be several of them. Which one's make you, you? Social justice is where there is justice in terms of the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges within a society. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the theme of social justice is demonstrated through the character of Atticus Finch who is positive and persistent.

Atticus always is positive as a result of him looking at the world with a different, brighter perspective and a hope for what is to come by tomorrow. When Atticus identifies that Jem is depressed due to his new consequences, Atticus

then states, ¨don't let Mrs. Dubose get you down. She has enough troubles of her own.¨ Here, Atticus shows positivity by lightening the mood and trying to cheer up the children. When Scout finds Dill (after he ran away) under her bed, and Atticus finds out, he makes Dill feel welcomed and attempts to explain what he will undertake to make it work for the children., “‘Whoa, son,’ said Atticus.´ Nobody's about to make you go anywhere but to bed pretty soon. I´m going over to tell Miss. Rachel you're here and ask her if you could spend the night with us” (Lee 141). Atticus is strict with his decisions, however he also needs Dill to learn the consequences of the decisions he made while trying to guide Dill generate sophisticated decisions in the future. While Atticus is very definite with his decisions, each person can also observe that he tries to make the best of his surprise visitor and the accident with Mrs. Dubose's flowers.
Atticus is also especially persistent to accomplish the task at hand done. “‘It is not time to worry yet,’Atticus reassured him, as we went to the dining room. ‘We’re not through yet. There'll be an appeal, you can count on that” (Lee 213). Atticus is persistent here because he tries to protect Tom Robinson even though there is a guilty status on his head. Atticus also knows that Tom will be proven guilty again, on the other hand he wishes to try his best and give it all he’s got. Earlier in the novel Jem (Atticus’ son) was having trouble with Mrs. Dubose and was going to bail out before Atticus stopped him, “‘Just one more week son,’ said Atticus. ‘No,’ said Jem. ‘Yes,’ said Atticus” (Lee 109). This shows Atticus as a fatherly figure and having Jem be persistent, just like he would. Atticus is also being persistent by telling Jem to continue with what he promised even when he does not want to. To better understand the character of Atticus each individual has to dig deeper, such as finding a hidden meaning such as, Atticus continuing his fight for Tomś case and wanting his son (Jem) to complete his tasks.
Persistence, positivity, wisdom, kindness, and empathy. All of these words are ones that describe a good-doer in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus is a great well rounded character that always puts forth his best and puts in his all. But he also takes his time and guarantees it is done right and as best as it possibly can be. That is just who he is.
