“Life’s likes a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get,” is a famous quote from Forrest Gump. Although this quote is referring to life, it could also refer to the career of the actor playing the lead role of this film. Tom Hanks is a man that started out with a dream in high school playing roles in small plays and made his way to the top. In his early career he took part in Shakespeare films; then, appeared in a television sitcom; next, he debuted in movies and also won lead roles in hit movies anywhere from comedies, fantasies, romances, and dramas. Throughout his career Tom has also written and produced some of his own motion pictures and co-directed well-known films as well. The contributions to motion picture demonstrated by the career of Tom Hanks prove beyond a doubt the Motion Picture Hall of Fame should induct this actor/ producer / director/ writer. His worthiness of this award is shown in his achievement, impact, and professionalism.
The first reason Tom Hanks should be nominated into the Motion Picture Hall of Fame is because of his numerous amount of achievements. Hank has won two best actor Oscars for his performance in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump and is known for other popular films (Reuters). He has also won almost seventy other awards and has been nominated for an additional seventy-nine, not only for acting but as well as for his other work with motion pictures (Tom Hanks- Awards). After acting for over thirty-five years his career in acting is still going strong; in fact, Tom was nominated for another Oscar just this year for his performance in the movie, Captain Phillips. One review stated, “When the Somali pirates took Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks)it got really real for m...

Samuel L Jackson has then came to appear in many great movies such as Jurassic Park, Pulp Fiction, A Time To Kill, One Eight Seven, Shaft, Coach Carter, Star Wars and many others. He has also been nominated for many of these and has received many awards for a lot of these films. He is still acting and does not seem to be thinking of retirement any time soon. He truly is a great example of a great actor who rose to fame in the time of blaxploitation and also an inspiration to all those with addiction problems as someone who was able to overcome his problem and make something of himself.
Who would have thought that a brilliant career in filmmaking could have originated with a modest jar of Skippy Peanut Butter smeared on a neighbor’s window in a tiny Cincinnati suburb? One might not think that such an average boyhood prank could evolve a boy into a man who would become the most financially successful film director in history. Well, that is exactly where Leah Spielberg, Steven Spielberg’s mother, would trace her son’s initial entry into becoming one of our nation’s most creative storytellers. “His badness was so original,” she recalls (Stein 3).

In doing so, he has established a signature mark. Both his films mix drama and comedy in a way that does not diminish the other. He exaggerates his characters for comedic effect but makes sure that they never crossover into being too slapstick. His films are short, around ninety minutes, and use montages to move quickly through narrative. His films contain both causal and episodic narratives. All his scenes are relatively short so his characters have lots of opportunities for different interactions. And he uses nature to reveal how a character is feeling. The way he tells a story is unique and constantly fascinating. His style and brand of humor is instantly recognizable, whether you 're watching one of his features, shorts, or advertisements. He still has the opportunity for a long career ahead of him and as he moves into more mainstream Hollywood, it will be important to see how he changes. His films may not have won any Oscars, but they have received acclaim in New Zealand and abroad. His effectiveness as a director and writer is impressive and his talent undeniable. Because he has been able to carve out this auteur identity in such a crowded industry, his films are surely worthy of study in the future. At the very least, they 'll always be highly

When deciding what movie to do for this particular paper I faced a few issues. So, after looking around and pondering movies for weeks I finally decided on a perfect choice The 60’s directed by Mark Piznarski?
From a young age, Steven Spielberg knew he wanted to be a director, but had no idea he would have so much influence in filmmaking. Even though he has only received two Academy Awards, he doesn’t need awards to show how successful he is with his films. Media today would not be the same without Spielberg’s influence because he has helped media develop into something extraordinary. With his contributions to the film industry, all of his dedication put into his films, and all of the glory he has received, shows why Steven Spielberg is one of the most influential Americans of all time.
