“Life’s likes a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get,” is a famous quote from Forrest Gump. Although this quote is referring to life, it could also refer to the career of the actor playing the lead role of this film. Tom Hanks is a man that started out with a dream in high school playing roles in small plays and made his way to the top. In his early career he took part in Shakespeare films; then, appeared in a television sitcom; next, he debuted in movies and also won lead roles in hit movies anywhere from comedies, fantasies, romances, and dramas. Throughout his career Tom has also written and produced some of his own motion pictures and co-directed well-known films as well. The contributions to motion picture demonstrated by the career of Tom Hanks prove beyond a doubt the Motion Picture Hall of Fame should induct this actor/ producer / director/ writer. His worthiness of this award is shown in his achievement, impact, and professionalism.
The first reason Tom Hanks should be nominated into the Motion Picture Hall of Fame is because of his numerous amount of achievements. Hank has won two best actor Oscars for his performance in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump and is known for other popular films (Reuters). He has also won almost seventy other awards and has been nominated for an additional seventy-nine, not only for acting but as well as for his other work with motion pictures (Tom Hanks- Awards). After acting for over thirty-five years his career in acting is still going strong; in fact, Tom was nominated for another Oscar just this year for his performance in the movie, Captain Phillips.
