The Westing Game Essay My class and I finished reading The Westing Game. It was a great book, and everyone loved it. We also watched the movie, and it was very different from the book. My classmates all agreed that the book was much better. Three reasons why the book and the movie are different is the point of view, the characters, and lastly, the small details. My first reason why the movie and the book are different, is the point of view. The book is written in 3rd person, and the movie is told by Turtle’s point of view. I found Turtle’s point of view more enjoyable than 3rd person, even though I liked the book more than the movie. Next, the characters were very different. In the movie, there was 10 heirs, and in the book, there was 16.
One reason why I didn’t like the movie was because some of my favorite characters weren’t in it. The characters’ personalities were different, too. For example, Grace was was nice to Turtle in the movie, but in the book, she was mean to Turtle. For my last reason, I will compare and contrast the the small details in the movie and the book. First, there was no smoke coming from the chimney of the Westing Mansion. Another detail was that there was no Purple Waves story being told, which kind of a big part in the book. Also, in the book, Angela was engaged to to Denton Deere, but in the movie, she was engaged to Ed Plum. I thought that was pretty weird. My final detail is that Violet jumped off a building and died in the in the movie, and in the book, she drowned herself. In conclusion, the movie and the book were very different from each other. Some parts in the book were better than other parts in the movie, and some parts in the movie were better than other parts in the book. But after reading and watching the book and the movie, I would say that the book was more enjoyable than the movie.
“The Westing Game”, a story of people that had to solve the mystery of who killed Sam Westing. “The Westing Game” is a story by Ellen Raskin. This story was made into a movie 2003. “ The Westing Game” book and movie contain many similarities and differences that are worth exploring.
This is my view on the movie and book. I likes the movie better the book because the
The books, A Wrinkle in Time and And Then There Were None, both have many differences in the movie versions. The directors of both movies change the plot to make the movie see fit to what they may have imaged the book to be, while still keeping the story line the same.
The Westing Game movie and book have a lot of similarities. One of the similarities is that
In the movie dwayne plays a good part. Dwayne was the guys that stuck up for them even though people did not like their documentary. Dwayne did get shot although that did not happen in the book. Another difference most of the characters that were in the book looked way younger that what the picture said that they looked like in the book. The book did not tell us that Lloyd liked to gamble. Lloyd gambled and almost got shot in the movie. In the movie Lloyd was like the bad guy in the movie, the movie told only bad things about Lloyd and only good things about LeAlan. Another difference in the movie is that the boys who threw Eric Morse out the window were sentenced to Juvenile Detention Center till the age of twenty-one. This is a big part because they never told what the verdict was which made it seem like they were let free from what they did. The last difference is in the movie the vacant apartment that in the book said that it looked creepy and run down it looked really nice in the apartment and I did not really understand why no one lived there.
While watching the movie, I could see that the main characters in the book, both their names and traits, were the same in both the movie and book. However, aside from that there were many different as...
In both the novel and movie focus on the war. The war influences the characters to enroll. Also, the main setting is at the Devon School. However, in the novel Gene visits Leper at his house but in the movie Leper lives in the woods. In the novel Gene is coming back to the Devon School 15 years later. However, in the book he is coming to Devon as a new student. Therefore, similarities and differences exist in time and setting in the novel and the movie. In the novel and the movie there are similarities and differences in events, character, and time and setting.
The book is written in third person, which allows the author to introduce characters and related information at different times. The movie was, although, in first person so that there could be a main character.
Overall, the movie and book have many differences and similarities, some more important than others. The story still is clear without many scenes from the book, but the movie would have more thought in it.
There were a few other differences; that Victor is now Henry in the movie. Elizabeth
Each version also has the main characters boarding up the windows. Anyone who thought the birds won’t attack are usually found dead, but in the movie they are found with their eyes pecked out. Also, both the story and the movie have REALLY bad endings! They aren’t very similar, but they both leave you hanging. When you see a movie or read a book you want to know what happens to the main characters. In these two, you didn’t get an ending. They left you hanging and for some people that ruins it all.
Of the many changes made between the book and the movie, most were made to keep the audience interested in the story. Most people who watch TV don’t have a long attention span. Executives at NBC didn’t want to spend millions to produce a movie and then have nobody watch it. The screenwriters had to throw in some clever plot twists to keep people interested. Another reason the movie was different from the book was the material in the book was a little too racy for network TV. Take the ending, for example, nobody wants to see a grown man hang himself. This was a reason the producers had to change some material in the movie.
One thing that can make a book good is characters. In the book, there were many more animals in the farm. The movie did not show many animals except for the main animals. Even thought this is a small difference, it can be noticeable. In the book, Mollie was a character.
What would you do with $200 million? These 16 people get a chance to get that money. But first, these 16 characters have to figure out who killed Sam Westing, who left a will for $200 million. In The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin, these 16 heirs get to live together in an apartment, and, along with many interesting instances, try to figure out who killed Westing.
The clearest and most significant difference between the original novel and the animated movie lies in the fact that the latter specifically focuses on ‘war’, whereas the
