Recommended: Comedy romantic comedy hybrid genres in movies

If you find yourself wanting to watch The Wedding Ringer directed by Jeremey Gerelick and starring Kevin Hart and Josh Gad, you need to be able to cease your brain activity for about an hour and 41 minutes. This movie is one of those that you have to take lightly in order to actually enjoy it. Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart) is a best man for hire, he’ll do everything you need him to and be you best friend for your big day, all for a hefty price that is. Which leads us to the main plotline of the movie. Enter Doug Harris (Josh Gad), he’s a self-proclaimed socially awkward loser who has no friends. His wedding is in a few days and he can’t find anyone to be his best man, but he has told his wife he has one, his best friend from Stanford, “Bic Mitchum”. Which conveniently is the combined brand names of both his razor and deodorant that he used when his fiancee asks him who his best man is. Rather than just telling his wife his has no friends, he seeks out Jimmy Callahan (Hart) to fix his problem. …show more content…

They set someone on fire, have a crazy bachelor party with some cringe worthy scenes, and they stay up all night trying to learn each other's lives in order to continue in the lie. In one series of scenes, they are taking pictures at various places to illustrate their long friendships. They go to an ice skating rink, pretending to be climbing a mountain. A bowling alley, all in similar outfits, to say it was their college bowling team. Then to the Smithsonian airplane museum, where the hop in a display and use a leaf blower to pretend they are about to go skydiving.
