My Favorite Scene in the book was when Chris Saved Margaret from almost dying from her Father. Her Father always punishes her for doing nothing.he goes to the bathroom and drowns her in the sink. This is an important scene because we now understand why she

While Ellen was staying with her grandmother her father died. When her father died she didn't feel sad because she had always fantasized about killing her father. Ellen just felt a distant sadness. Ellen cried just a little bit. Her grandmother was furious because Ellen showed some emotions. She told her to never cry again. After that Ellen becomes scarred for a long time. The Watcher is a thrilling mystery written by James Howe. He writes about three wild spirted teenagers. Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is a story written in the first person about a young girl named Melinda Sordino. The title of the book, Speak, is ironically based on the fact that Melinda chooses not to speak. The book is written in the form of a monologue in the mind of Melinda, a teenage introvert. This story depicts the story of a very miserable freshman year of high school. Although there are several people in her high school, Melinda secludes herself from them all. There are several people in her school that used to be her friend in middle school, but not anymore. Not after what she did over the summer. What she did was call the cops on an end of summer party on of her friends was throwing. Although all her classmates think there was no reason to call, only Melinda knows the real reason. Even if they cared to know the real reason, there is no way she could tell them. A personal rape story is not something that flows freely off the tongue. Throughout the story Melinda describes the pain she is going through every day as a result of her rape. The rape of a teenage girl often leads to depression. Melinda is convinced that nobody understands her, nor would they even if they knew what happened that summer. Once a happy girl, Melinda is now depressed and withdrawn from the world. She hardly ever speaks, nor does she do well in school. She bites her lips and her nails until they bleed. Her parents seem to think she is just going through a faze, but little do they know, their daughter has undergone a life changing trauma that will affect her life forever.
One of the scenes that I found to be the most shocking would it be when Jeannette's mom and dad were arguing about going to live with Rose Mary’s mother and they ended up throwing things out the window, but what surprised me the most is when Rose Mary begin dangling from the window screaming for help. All the kids, and myself, weren't sure whether Rose Mary had jumped or their father had pushed her out the window. Think the most inspiring part of the story from me was when most of the kids were able to actually built their lives up from where they began. It was so amazing to be able to see that they came from a place so low and were able to build their lives up from where they began. Finally, I think the funniest part of the story for me would be the Battle of Little Hobart Street because
In the story ‘’the Stray,” by Cynthia Rylant, the main character Doris is an admirable character because of what she does. Doris can be a caring person and she is very thoughtful.
The girl in the story writes about her relationship with her father and how it was very loving, and she always got what she needed and wanted. However, when her father passed away and she had to rely on her mother everything changed. There was never any food in the fridge, the power and water was shut off, and they were forced to move many times. They had to stay in motels or with friends of her mothers, and she missed a lot of school. As a senior in high school she decides to move out in to her own apartment, works a job and studies as hard as she can. In the closing paragraph she states that she is now 21, has two jobs, goes to college and is also in the Army National Guard. She learned from her childhood that hard work and perseverance pays off, and you must take it on
My favorite part of the book would be when Smaug, the dragon, is killed. This is great because now the travelers can get the treasure much easier. Even though Bilbo wasn’t the one to kill Smaug, he was the one who provided the information to kill him. Bilbo found a soft spot on Smaug near his left breast. This is where Bard, one of the archers defending the town and a descendent of Girion, shot Smaug with an arrow and was victorious. The arrow killed the feared beast.
Katherine Ann Porter’s lamentable short story, “The Jilting of Granny Weatherall” illustrates that abandonment has the power to leave one scarred even years down the road. Porter’s utilization of stream of consciousness highlights Weatherall’s fixation on being left at the altar and the role this distress plays in her life, leaving her detriment.

The story begins with the narrator speaking of Desiree, and how she was found lying asleep, next to the property entrance. It was evident that she was abandoned; there were assumptions of who might have possibly left the small infant child. The story line took place in Louisiana. During the particular time era, and in this region, large plantations were very common, slavery too. The family who found Desiree was plantation owners an...
