The role of the Vice-President is more than waiting to become the President. Individuals who become the Vice-President should feel a sense of individual ownership of their position. The Vice-President is an office of importance and integrity as is it is crucial to the success of an overall entity. The Vice-President must be someone who is able to support and aid the President while also being able to respectfully provide suggestions and criticisms to the President that may improve on his or her proposals. Furthermore, it is critical that they possess virtues that the members of the organization can admire and strive to acquire. I am now the Vice President, and along with the other officers, we oversee over 120 members. We visit local elementary schools and tutor the kids twice a week. Furthermore, we conduct service projects every quarter, such as harvest drives and toy drives. Last year alone, we collected over 1,100 toys for a local orphanage and over 125 cans of soup. Although the year is young, I feel very optimistic about the things we will achieve and the impact that we will continue to make.

I am involved in several clubs, such as Spanish club and HOSA, although I do not hold office in any of them, I try to serve as a leader and to use my intelligence to help the school. As a leader I am capable of using my potential to aid in inspiring others. I hope to prove myself to be a good example and guide for those who need help. As a new inclusion to NHS, I am committed to help my fellow students study and to do their best. I possess a variety of study and organization skills that I can pass on to other students. I am a open-minded and patient person, making it easy for me to take criticism willingly and accept recommendations thoughtfully. I can work well either individually or on a team and can Inspire positive attitudes and behaviors in others. I promise to utilize my leadership skills and work with other NHS members to achieve success for the school. With my characteristics, I will inspire new concepts and further develop the character of NHS. “Who’s going to step up?”. “Who’s going to change this?”. People ask these questions everyday. I realize that I have never truly thought about the defining characteristics of a leader. I was given a list of qualities and upon reading it, I proudly realized that I demonstrate leadership. But the important consideration should not be how I successfully match this definition, but instead why I do it. I was elected treasurer for the class of 2016, a student body elected official, and hold that position of responsibility by attending meetings weekly, promoting school activities (such as homecoming), and participating in student council planning and events as much as possible. I wanted to become treasurer because I wanted a say in decisions that impacted our class. I wanted to be recognized as an individual that my peers could come to with questions and concerns.
I believe I have many skills and talents that I can contribute to N.H.S. I’m level-headed and cool under pressure so in times of havoc, I’ll be there to calm people down and not go crazy. Also I’m a team player which is very important. Some people like to do things solo, but N.H.S is an organization where you have to work together to help accomplish the goals. I may not have had much experience in foreign policy on the ground, but I am passionate and willing to work hard and learn as I go. Second, I would like to gain more legal experience before I attend law school in the Fall of 2019. The Office of White House Counsel was recommended to me by an AUSA during my internship with the U.S. Attorney’s office. Finally, I want to make a positive change in the everyday lives of Americans. Harry S Truman was the 33rd President of the United States. He was born in Lamar, Missouri, in 1884. He grew up in Independence and worked for 12 years as a farmer on his parents’ lands. In 1917, soon after the USA entered the First World War, he was enlisted in the army.

Early Life Richard Milhous Nixon grew up in Yorba, California the son of Quakers Frank and Hannah Nixon. During Nixon’s childhood in Yorba, the family was always on the edge of poverty. The lemon grove was unfruitful, and there was little money for anything beyond food and clothing for the growing family. The Nixons never ate in a restaurant or took even a brief vacation. Nixon’s early life was one of boyish stubbornness. He swam in the dangerous Anaheim Canal in spite of repeated warnings from his father, and he insisted upon standing up to ride in the family wagon, although once a fall gave him a serious head injury. He displayed a competitive streak at an early age and would never turn down a challenge or a dare. He also loved to be read to, and after age five he could read on his own. National Geographic was his favorite magazine. Education Nixon graduated form high school in 1930. He possessed extraordinary intelligence and ambition, but his ambitious nature received a serious setback that year. He graduated first in his class and won his high school’s Harvard Club award as "best all-around student." The award was a scholarship to Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition, he seemed likely to win a scholarship to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Nixon had dreamed for years of going to a famous college in the East, but his dreams were shattered when he had to turn down both opportunities. Because his older brother Harold’s long battle with tuberculous had drained the family’s funds there was no money to pay for the cost of traveling to the East Coast and living there. Nixon swallowed his disappointment and enrolled at nearby Whittier College. Nixon majored in history, and one of his history professors had a profound influence on his career. This was Dr. Paul Smith, whom Nixon called "the greatest intellectual inspiration of my early years." Smith was a Republican who urged his students to think about the importance of leadership in government. He encouraged them to consider entering public office, and he certainly helped turn Nixon’s thoughts in that direction. In 1934 Nixon graduated from Whittier College after four years on the honor roll. He applied for a scholarship to a new law school, at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and asked several of his professors to write to Duke, recommending him for a scholarship.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt is among the most remembered U.S. Presidents. Serving as President for more than twelve years, he was the only President to be elected four times. Roosevelt led the United States through its worst depression and its worst war. He tried his best to stay optimistic with our country and the decisions he made. In Roosevelt's first inaugural address, he asked for faith in America's future. He told the country, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" (Burns 1970, p. 238). That is the lesson that he taught our country to live by.
In order to accurately provide examples of United States Presidents fulfilling their role as Commander-in-Chief, one must first lay the groundwork. According to Dictionary.com a commander-in-Chief is defined as, “ The supreme commander of the armed forces of a nation or, sometimes, of several allied nations: The president is the Commander in Chief of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air force.”(Dictionary.com). The President of the United States is in charge of roughly 1.46 million people who are considered active in the military.(Find the Data). So, it's not a stretch to say he has a intense and important job in this department and is in charge of a lot of people who wield guns as their weapon of choice.
Nixon was a brilliant student and though he had hardships growing up, he was very dedicated in what he did and had a bright future. At the age of 17, Nixon first attended Whittier College in September 1930. He especially enjoyed his student government classes and was even elected student class president, which led to his interest to get involved with politics. After graduating school, Nixon enrolled into the navy. He served in a naval air transport and was promoted to lieutenant commander before the war ended (World Book, Inc. Page 434).
