The topic of David Suzuki’s editorial is the effects of emission on climate change, and ways we can fight it. 2. The author’s opinion on this topic is that we need to take action and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that’s being polluted. David Suzuki feels that it’s our only realistic choice to help stop any hazardous anthropogenic interference with the climate. Reducing emissions will take a long time, but we should start now. The purpose of this editorial is to inform the reader about climate change and the damage it’s doing to the world. He is sending out a message that waiting to make a change isn’t an option. Social media is a huge factor and plays a big role in peoples daily lives. It’s quite addicting, and it’s very easy to access. Our society spends so much time on computers and social networking sites people forget about real-life factors and situations they may be facing. People are using things such as Facebook and twitter as a personal journal about there life, posting these personal things for the world to see; so without these social networking sites what will they do? 3. This story relates to peter pan because both of these stories are based on allusions and take place in an imaginary world. In the story ‘The Veldt’ Peter is the child who refuses to listen to his parents, which is similar to Peter pan. Wendy can relate to Wendy from Peter pan because she follows Peter similar to what happens in Ray Bradbury’s story. In the story Peter Pan, Wendy eventually wants to go home, but in The Veldt Wendy does not want to go back out of the fantasy world. It gives it a bit of a twist compared to Peter Pan. The screams heard from the nursery sounded so familiar to George and Lydia because the screams they had been hearing from the nursery were their own. At the end of the story the children beg their parents to turn the nursery on just
