The “ultimatum” It was a day like every other, just another day at work. Or at least at the time that’s what I thought. Soon however, this day would go down is one of the worst days of my life. Devastation, sadness, pain, betrayal, anger swam through my veins and filled my entire body this day. It was a warm day in August, the cool air washing over my body as I enter the building the bell ringing as I enter the building to SA. I wave to the cashier I forget her name now, but she had kind eyes and her blonde hair was pulled back into a low ponytail. I continued back towards A&W and picked up the brown trays on top of the trashes, as if by instinct. I pushed in the door, said my hellos to my coworkers and walked the trays to the sink. Telling Emily what to do was not Tina’s Job. She should have been concentrating on her work. I remember feeling so frustrated with the situation, and looking for Tina. I found Tina up front, and pulled her aside. I started off by telling her it was not her job to tell Emily or anyone else for that matter what to do, It was mine. “ Well obviously you’re not doing your job.” She had retorted. It was like I was a bear and she kept poking me with a stick, seeing how angry she could get me. I tried to remain calm, my voice had started to waiver at this point however. “ I have been doing my job just fine, I told Emily I would bring her back more dishes, I told Tyler to keep stocking, I told josh to do prep table, and I told Brea to start lobby. So don’t tell me I’m not doing my Job.” I asserted growing more and more angry with every word. What she did next really took the cake. “Fine.” She stated scrunching her eyebrows in frustration, whipping out her phone in the process. “Tina, This is not the time to text Cody we have stuff to do, you can talk to him after” I demanded, you see Cody is her boyfriend/ The assistant Manager. “ I can text whoever the f*** I want, whenever the f*** I want!” She yelled in my
“My name is Sadie Frowne. I work in Allen Street (Manhattan) in what they call a sweatshop. I am new at the work and the foreman scolds me a great deal. I get up at half-past five o’clock every morning and make myself a cup of coffee on the oil stove. I eat a bit of bread and perhaps some fruit and then go to work. Often I get there soon after six o’clock so as to be in good time, though the factory does not open till seven.

The grass was wet and cold. I woke up and Mother was at her new job working for the Barclays Bank and I walked out of my room which was red walls with white carpet. I went down the stairs and walked outside and the grass was wet it had rained that night and I didn’t notice I must've slept through it. It was 10 degrees outside and it made the grass cold and wet. I enjoyed this very much. I laid down and watched the sunset fade away and I felt good laying in the grass. I eventually had to get up and Mother came home for lunch and I had a strawberry milkshake and two clementines. I noticed that Mother was not talking very much and then I saw tears form in her eyes.
A great day to add to my diary. I've got a new job after that stupid
As a result of this, Ruth tends to support Miss Emily’s perspective. She is the queen of lying and feels that lying is better than telling the truth if your going to hurt someone (some of the times). We see this hand-in-hand when Rodney and Chrissie ask Ruth, Kathy and Tommy if there is such a thing as deferrals. Ruth states that “Well, they told us a few things…we never talked about it really.” (Ishiguro, 154) This exhibits how Ruth isn’t telling them the truth that they have never heard anything about the deferrals. She thinks it is better to lie and not hurt them rather than telling them the truth and having their hopes destroyed. She also lies because she wants Chrissie and Rodney to be in a good mood so they will still take her to see her possible which shows how Ruth can be a bit selfish. Miss Emily also portrays that lying is better than telling the truth if it keeps someone from getting hurt because she doesn’t tell the children the full truth about their purpose. When Kathy and Tommy go to Madame’s, Miss Emily even admits that “…sometimes that meant that we kept things from you, lied to you. Yes, in many ways we fooled you” but the guardians “sheltered you during those years, and we gave you your childhoods.” (Ishiugro, 268) This further exemplifies that Miss Emily was mindful that she was lying but truly thought it was the right thing to do. Together, Ruth and Miss Emily ultimately believe that
Days went by and the more comfortable it was to wake up to honking cars, business woman’s heels clicking on the pavement and flashing lights. Everyday, the sun’s light reflects off of my apartment's broad windows. I wake each day to put on a tight dress which make curvaceous, voluptuous body stand out. I would walk or find a taxi to take me to work, which was at Bellissimo Magazine. I was a journalist who would take celebrity stories and write long articles but I wasn’t very experienced since I had never dreamed of getting this job. It was rare for anyone inexperienced to get hired. This was the fashion and entertainment industry and I would work hard to impress my sophisticated boss, Joan. She was a hardworking woman but she’s also become like a best friend to me, which was kind of weird to think about but it was true. People here have made me feel welcomed for more than a month now and I think it was time to move on with my life and begin new friendships and find my one true
In the back of my mind, I wanted to inform her about all the things her boyfriend and I do together. After all, her boyfriend, Cameron Malik or Cam for short is on the DL and he's just scared to death, coming out the closet that he's been hiding in. Claiming that, people will hate him for being gay or the football team
She read the text aloud with a shaky voice, “I love you.” A brief smile came across her face. In that moment, she forgot all about what those girls told her. She texted him back, feeling a little happier: “I love you, too.”

She starts to take a stand and realizes that she’s pathetic in the way that she’s just letting this pass by her. As she watches her co-workers take the abuse without any retaliation she snaps and tells Ted to treat them better. She’s surprised that no one has the fight to talk back. Surprisingly Ted gives her a raise when he calls her in. She thought she was going to get fired. Then she realizes it’s because another co-worker quit. She’s had enough and decides to reveal herself to everyone that she’s working in secret when she’s really an author. She asks why they would go through this kind of work and they say that it motivates them to work harder.Ehrenreich
It was a Saturday afternoon, when my friend Jalissa came over and wanted me to go to the mall with her. Jails had just gotten hired at the mall and hadn’t been on a shift since. On the car ride to the mall, she mentioned that she had gotten the job at Aeropostale and that the manager was still looking for employees. Being desperate for a job and money, I took it all in and as soon as we got to our destination, I was ready to put on my professional mask. Walking into the store, which I hadn’t shopped there in years because it was always so expensive. I noticed a tall, lean, and handsome guy in the back folding shirts, that guy was Cornell Brown, the store manager . I had spoken with him and mentioned that I wanted an opportunity to work for the company and he nonchalantly handed me an application and I quickly ran to a nearby store for a pen to fill it out. After about five minutes, I was back with the piece of paper that could be my golden ticket for a job. Cornell began to ask me questions, the question t...
