Cautiously I took a seat on the charcoal colored couch that I knew so well, my oldest brother greeted me with a gentle hug "So Trent told me you have something to say" were the first words to leave his mouth, I tensed under his touch and pulled away from his ink infested arms. His hazel eyes much like mine studied me with curiosity I was on the spot, all their attention was on me. My palms started sweating, I wished dearly that the ground would swallow me whole. My eyes flickered to Trent, to the floor then to Tannert, this pattern repeated until Tanner patted my back reassuringly this gave me enough courage to clear my throat, and...that’s it. I looked back down my nervous fidgeting hands Might as well get it over with, just go for it. I stood up straighter and looked Tanner in …show more content…
He paced back and forth, running his hand over his face again and again with a add of frequent tugs at his hair He screeched to a stop in front of me and asked "does mom know?" when I shook my head he continued his routine "of course!" I wouldn't be surprised if he left a rubber trail with all this pacing Cautiously I carried myself away from the door and sat on the couch in Tanners previous seat next to Trent The silence was deafening and suffocating but I kept a blank face Weak I heard keys before Tanners roommate, Caleb entered. His green eyes shot around the room before asking with a sheepish smile "well everyone seems to be in such a jolly mood, maybe a little too jolly for me, bad moment?" Tanner gave him a stiff nod causing Caleb to retreat back out "What are you going to do?" Tanner asked as soon as the door closed "We could tell mom" Trent input from beside me "No. This would kill her" Tanner replied, maybe a little too forcefully "She's gonna find out anyway" I
“I guess we need to come up with an excuse when we are asked the reason for the annulment.”
Elise hastily rushed to her tent to tend her father, named Jarvan, because of a horrendous wound that was made from a plasma bullet. The wound was turned into a hole in the skin after the plasma instantly evaporated. It took several hours to stop the bleeding using a cloth. As Elise’s father was resting, she went to find some valuables that might have been with the dead body that she had killed. Unfortunately, the body was gone and she came back empty handed. As soon as Elise came back, my father and I talked about the missing body and the ways we can leave this foul planet.
I also don't own the idea, it was requested to me by the wonderful Amanda. Thank you so much! I hope I did this idea justice.
At the same time: Snap-Whoosh-Growl-Snap-Whoosh-Growl! Return with a fierceness, causing the rest of the men to separate into two groups with some moving to the left in search of the origin of the beastly sounds and the others moving to the right, combining their numbers with those searching for their missing brethren, while Gottlieb stays behind.
The Trent Affair was a strategic crisis that took place between Great Britain and the United States. The crisis began after the captain of the of the USS San Jacinto ordered an arrest of two emissaries sailing to Europe on board of a British mail ship, the Trent, to look for support for the South in the Civil War. This led to a dispute on who and what started this crisis but at the end of the day everyone pointed their fingers to San Jacinto. The british, who didn't take sides in the war, were furious and stated the seizure of a ship by the U.S Navy was a violation of the law which technically they were not wrong. The nation carried this in rebellion and disobedience. They grew in their anger making them over power the nation by not only what
I knew it would happen. As much as I tried to stay optimistic, to put off my feelings of suspicion to an old man's negativity, I knew that this case would cost me something more than just my reputation in the town and that didn't even really matter. In Maycomb, reputation is a day by day concept. Sure, we have more than enough of our fair share of immovable gossipers, and drama kings and queens looking for a story to spread. But in everyone's own mind, if you did something stupid, immoral, or just mildly humorous or entertaining, it was the talk of the town and you were judged terribly for a few days, a few weeks tops. Then the whispers, and glances faded to conversations over coffee, and deep inside jokes. My reputation didn't bother me one bit.
It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. “Joe,” my father hollered up the stairs, “it’s for you. It’s Jackie and she sounds upset .” As I came down stairs to pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie.
The Trent Affair, which was an international diplomatic incident, began during the early years of the civil war. The affair challenged traditional concepts of the freedom of the seas and the rights of neutrals. Another event that almost precipitated from this was a war between the United States and Great Britain. In the early 1860’s the confederacy appointed two envoys to represent its government in Europe. The two men that were James Mason and John Slidell. The two men made their way to Havana, Cuba, where they joined an English ship named Trent, which had set sail on Nov. 7. The day after the Trent set sail for Paris, the Trent was intercepted by a union warship the San Jacinto, which was under the command of Captain Charles Wilkens, an officer of the
PROLOGUE: “Mr. Ethan Winters and Mr. Lucas Baker will live together under one roof for the duration of time it takes to get them new identities issued under the witness protection program.” The man in a sharp black suit reading off the paper in front of him looked up at the two men in question. Both of them looked absolutely petrified. He went on to read “You will be provided a house to share in Portland, Oregon. All expenses already paid for.
“[I] have a wife as miserable as [myself], [we] are so miserly that [we] conspire to cheat on eachother.” (Irving 1).
I don't think that the kids won't meet Boo. Boo used to be in a gang when he was young. Him and his gang friends would just do annoying things. When a kid was running past the Radley's house he saw Boo stabbed his father in the leg. The kid called the police and the police wanted to lock him up. But Mr.Radley said I will just lock him up in my house. Mr Radley is the only one that comes out side the rest of them never come outside. Mrs Radley goes on her porch to water her plants and thats it. The kids are scared of him because they say at night when everyone is sleeping he peeks through people window. One girl says she woke up at saw him standing there. But when she got up, but when she looked out the window he was gone. The kids say he is
It has been a few weeks on the island. I choose to be Ralph’s side, because he was the only one to personally speak to me. An everyday image for us group of boys is Jack and his hunters hunt while Ralph, Simon, and I build shelters and Piggy and the littluns build a rescue fire. Jack harassing Piggy and then going to bed musing about being rescued. Today was different though. Today we are going to find out if the beast is real. We have been walking through the jungle all day listening to Jack and Ralph argues about being chief, which, is getting on my last nerve. As the sky changed into a dark shade, Simon volunteered to go back and help Piggy with the littluns. I don’t know why he wanted to go back alone but if anyone would sacrifice, it would be him. We reached the mountain! Jack went climbing up on his own while Ralph, and I waited for him. Eventually we decided to go up. “There was a slithering noise high above them, the sounds of someone taking a giant and dangerous strides on a rock or ash” (Golding 121). As jack came down, he had a croaking feel to him. He said he saw something bulge. Ralph and I decided to go take a peak. When we got to the top, we saw a creature.
I wonder if he still has a heart next to my name.. Probably not. After a few minutes, I swallowed up my nerves and called Tristan. It rang a few times and I actually thought he wouldn't answer but at the last ring, he did. "
‘I hate Aaron Richardson’ ‘I hate Aaron Richardson’ ‘I'm gonna rip his balls of, and feed it to him’ ‘I'm gonna throw my shoes at the stupid dipshi- ‘ “Oh, Infinity!” Some middle-aged woman greeted me, with a full blown smile, ready to fall off her face. “um hi?” I hesitantly greeted back. Not that I was trying to being rude or anything, but I had no idea who this woman was, or anyone in this room to be frank.
I wearily drag myself away from the silken violet comforter and slump out into the living room. The green and red print of our family’s southwestern style couch streaks boldly against the deep blues of the opposing sitting chairs, calling me to it. Of course I oblige the billowy haven, roughly plopping down and curling into the cushions, ignoring the faint smell of smoke that clings to the fabric. My focus fades in and out for a while, allowing my mind to relax and unwind from any treacherous dreams of the pervious night, until I hear the telltale creak of door hinges. My eyes flutter lightly open to see my Father dressed in smart brown slacks and a deep earthy t-shirt, his graying hair and beard neatly comber into order. He places his appointment book and hair products in a bag near the door signaling the rapid approaching time of departure. Soon he is parading out the door with ever-fading whispers of ‘I love you kid,’ and ‘be good.’
