The boat was experiencing mechanical failure so the captain was going at 12 knots. This was against the advice given to him telling him to drive at 15 knots as to avoid and out speed russian submarines. Then at 9:16 the Wilhelm Gustloff was hit by 3 torpedoes. The ship had life rafts for 5000 people but most of the safety equipment was frozen and 9000 people died making it the largest maritime disaster in history beating out the titanic at 1500 people. Although most of the passengers were civilians it is not recognized as a war crime as 1000
On May the 7th 1915 the Lusitania sank, taking with it the lives of one thousand, two hundred and one people including ninety-one children and thirty-one infants. Despite the fact that it was the largest and fastest ship at that time, the German torpedo still found its mark off the South Coast of Ireland while the ship was travelling between the United States and England. The failure to prevent the tragedy despite the warnings given, the actions (or lack thereof) of the Admiralty and the neglect in ensuring that the lifeboat system and the ship itself would offer maximum protection; puts the primary blame unto the British Admiralty and the Cunard Company.

This British ocean liner was one of the biggest cruise ships ever made. The ship began its maiden voyage in the early morning of April 10, 1912 from Southampton, England to New York City. Mainly the ships 2,200 passengers were of deathly upper-class families looking for a good time in the city, while a smaller amount was people going to the city to find work. Many thought that when they board the ship, they were in for the trip of a lifetime. Well, that trip soon ended in tragedy. The Titanic sank early in the morning on the 15th when the ship hit an iceberg. Captain Edward J. Smith had the ship sailing full speed ahead despite the concerns about several icebergs. The ship received multiple warnings about dangerous ice fields in the North over the telegraph. General Corfield who was in charge of warning the captain of any obstacles along the way, said he failed to pass the warning along by senior radio operator, Jack Phillips. The “unsinkable” was actually built with very sinkable cheap material. It was built with low-grade iron rivets instead of the more expensive higher-grade material rivets. These small details easily could have been avoided (history.com
Soon after the Titanic took off, it sunk. It took 3 hours to sink and there were only enough lifeboats for less than half of the people on the ship. The Titanic sunk in the Atlantic Ocean on April 14th and 15th, 1912.
The Titanic: Why Would it Sink The Titanic claimed to be the ship of its time; one that would never sink. However, what the Titanic claimed to be was not the case because on April 15, 1912 the Titanic hit an iceberg, broke in half, and sunk to the bottom of the ocean. There has been debate ever since that fateful day as to how this happened to the Titanic. Some conspiracy theorists believe the ship never even sank -- regardless of whether the ship remains at the bottom of the ocean. Other conspiracy theorists believe the Titanic was actually switched to the RMS Olympic because of an insurance scam.
Naval base and headquarters of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Honolulu county, southern Oahu Island, Hawaii, U.S. In U.S. history the name recalls the Japanese surprise air attack on Dec. 7, 1941, that temporarily crippled the U.S. Fleet and resulted in the United States' entry into World War 2. Pearl Harbor centres on a cloverleaf-shaped, artificially improved harbour on the southern coast of Oahu, 6 miles (10 km) west of Honolulu. The harbour is virtually surrounded (west to east) by the cities of Ewa, Waipahu, Pearl City, Aiea, and Honolulu.
On December 7th, 1941 it started off as a normal day to most. But by 7:53 a.m. Pearl Harbor was under attack. The attacks came in two waves. One at 7:53 a.m. and the next just an hour later at 8:55 a.m. The first

The Titanic set voyage on April 1912 to New York. The Titanic and its sister ships, Olympia and Britannic were said to be virtually unsinkable by a magazine article, not the White Star Line. The Titanic was the second ship to set sail on its maiden voyage out of the three sister ships. The Titanic had been built a lot differently than most of the ships back then. For example, a normal ship was built with three funnels but the Titanic had four. The fourth funnel did not serve the same purpose like the other three; its use was for steam to be released from the kitchen. Another example was that the Titanic was the biggest ship at the time. The ship had received ice warnings at least six different times from ships but Captain Smith had ignored
After the collision, six watertight compartments began filling with water. Soon, water spilled over the tops. Scientists have concluded that the watertight compartments contributed to the disaster by keeping the flood waters in the bow of the ship [Gannon, 1995].
On April 12,1914 just before 2 pm, the Captain and crew that helped control the ship, received three ice warnings. The Captain ignored them. At 5:03 pm the got another warning from ocean Liner America, it went unacknowledged.
