“The most important thing is to enjoy your life -- to be happy -- it’s all that matters.” - Audrey Hepburn. Above all else, I want to be able to enjoy this year, and everything that comes with it. By following through with the 3 major resolutions I chose, hopefully I will become my best self at some point of the year. That’s the point, right? 2018 will likely go by as fast as 2017 did, and I only have so many resolutions to make until I’m forced to come face-to-face with adulthood. That’s a whole different chapter of my life. For the time being, I think it’s crucial to do the things that will make 2018 a special one. But that’s what everyone says.
My personal improvement promise has everything to do with the quote in the first paragraph. I am determined to be consistently happy this year, and if not, then at least a little more optimistic. I know the year will come with a few obstacles, it would be a miracle to go 365 days without any. I believe that it is my choice whether I’m going to be brought down by them for too long. This is the second most important resolution to me, because 2017 was so busy and I didn’t spend as much time as I know I could’ve. Like I said, I’m eventually going to grow up and having a continuously decreasing amount of spare time is inevitable. Especially if I go to a college out of state or something. I figured that I should enjoy these moments before I get way less of them. At some point, I’m going to look back on my teenage years. I don’t really want my memories to consist of me sleeping in my room most of the time. That would admittedly be a little depressing. I want to remember being with my family and hanging out with my friends, so that I at least have something to look back
Achieving my goals constructs the feeling of satisfactory and confidence me within myself, which is my number one
Looking at our society and my busy life filled with tests, deadlines, work schedules, and demands for my time coming at me from every direction, I almost with I could go back to that place where time and concerns for the outside world were of little or no consequence. How I love to remember, to relive the memories of my adolescence. My world was perfect then.
My Senior year in High School has officially begun, only one more year at Corona High. I know that Senior year is supposed to be fun, but I believe every year is an opportunity to improve. I have already set my goals for this school year. I believe I can achieve a GPA of 4.0 or above. However, there are some personal goals that I need to complete first. I need to stop my terrible habit of procrastinating. Another goal of mine is to pass my AP tests so I can earn college credit. I also want to learn new things, so I started to learn the basics of Coding, now I need to finish this course. These are some things I look to accomplish this year.
My New Year's resolution for 2018 is something called the Ann Voskamp plan. Ann Voskamp is a stay at home mom who educates her children so she has a lot of time on her hands. She has a plan for her everyday life that follows a direct path for organization. I don't really have a plan to do things because everything I do just happens randomly. A plan to follow would help me become somewhat organized and make my ways somewhat consistent.

In many ways developing a personal improvement plan can help prevent complacency, generate personal growth, and build self-confidence. The basic premise is based on the determination of specific goals, and developing strategies to achieve them. As a forty-seven year old college student, I’ve had my share of implementing improvement plans. Some bore excellent results, while others produced stress and anxiety. Cultivating improvement requires an awareness of your particular strengths and weaknesses, also diligence to work on those areas. In the past, I had a tendency to become depressed, or discouraged when I failed to reach a goal. I am a thinker by nature and apt to experience analysis paralysis, a state in which I become so caught up in planning that I cannot take action. The areas I struggle with the most are, stress management, time management, and finding an optimal learning method in class. It is my plan to overcome these challenges and attain a more empowering perspective, refine my university experience, and ensure that I successfully integrate personal and academic development effectively, in a way most beneficial to my future.
Charles Spurgeon, the Prince of Preachers, once said, “It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.” This past year I decided to challenge myself and those around me to be happy. Happiness can mean miscellaneous things to each of us, but at the end of the day, I believe we are in control of our own happiness. Until this year, I had never really given a thought about happiness. Sure I sensed it all around me and felt it all throughout my life, but I never thought it was something I could decide for myself until now.
I would only attended close friends’ birthday parties and I believe I only had two of them, Alex’s and Lyssa’s. My freshman year of high school looks like a 5’1ft me and surrounded by piled and piled of worksheets and books, maybe my core teachers standing in each corners. Each time I got hit by a water balloon, I felt I could finally yet slowly breath again. As I was picking up the broken balloon on the grass, I came to a realization that I could make my high school feel like this water balloon fight. There is part that I get to have fun, yet there is still time to clean; it was all about balance. I promised myself, in three months I needed to make up all the fun I have missed during my freshman year. Sporting events, participating in clubs, meeting friends in the morning, socializing outside of school, etc. Although, my sophomore GPA was not as high as my freshman year, I did not regret any of it. Instead of accepting that I am a certain way, I know I can choose a different approach. Instead of focusing on negative emotions, I know I can control my emotions. Reactive language becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, while proactive language creates the reality I want to see. By being proactive, and subordinating feelings to values, I can bring anything I desire into my life. I am ready to become more aware of where I focus my time and energy. I do this by determining what I have real control over and focusing my energy there. By focusing on what I can control and letting go of what I cannot, I am maximizing my productivity. The things I am concerned about but cannot control can only take my focus off the things I can change for the better. I am determined to grow my circle of influence and shrink my circle of control. I can solve problems that I can directly control by working on my habits. I can solve problems I indirectly control by changing my methods of influence and how I react. To start, the three views on truth are verum quia factum, verum est ens and verum quia faciendum. Simply put the views are ancient medieval and modern, however these go much more in depth. Verum est ens in English translates to “being is truth” and is the ancient way of view. Being is “what is”, it surpasses the surface of things, it does not see the object, and its view far surpasses the object. The ancient people viewed the world as a veil which meant that truth hides behind the surface of things. In simple terms the ancient people did not viewed things in a very religious and symbolic way. In today’s modern world and age, everything seems to be progressing and getting larger at a mind blowing rate. This includes people’s attitudes on themselves, on other people, and on the world in general. Many people are insecure and spiteful towards their physique or their overall worth, and bitter and disconnected from other people. Scott Sorrell’s quote is conveying that one can make the world a better place both for themselves and for other people simply by changing their attitude and being positive. I agree with Scott Sorrell’s quote because by choosing to be happy from within, people’s positive attitudes can reach other people and eventually the world, making it a “better place”.
