The study of economics opened a whole new perception on the world for me. In reality, economics is the main force that strives the human kind to succeed. I love the feeling of when I am engaged in this sphere, however, there are other areas of study that I am also passionate about and that would be art and media, and politics. My involvement in different economics world issues has given me a clearer idea of the importance of economics in our daily lives. I hope one day I will be closely involved in the sphere of economics.
Through my Economics studies in London as well as AP Economics class, I have gained a greater knowledge of many aspects of economics. One of my particular areas of interest is Macroeconomics. I have learnt that this is a vital part of any company as without a good understanding of profit and loss accounts and how to manage budgets the business will soon suffer. The main feature of finance that I am most passionate about is the use of financial theory in order to solve a business problem. Furthermore, this unit helped me to improve my organization and managem...
The Island of Mocha in the video is an example of a traditional economic system evolving into a market system. Every person plays a key role in this traditional system. They had fisherman, coconut collector, melon seller, lumberman, barber, doctor, preacher, brownies seller, and a chief. The Mochans got sick of trading goods all across the island just to get the things that they want or needed. The Chief decided that they would use clam shell for currency instead of trading.
...ing how some studies and economic research has been taking place and where. I found some of the studies to be trivial. This meaning that the authors used creative techniques to figure and estimate some of the elasticities. I also found it interesting how I could relate to the real life situations such as the Lottery. For example, when the lottery starts rolling over it creates a hype, and the demand goes up. I was always aware of this phenomenon but never realized what it actually was.
Seldom do individuals realize the significance of acquiring a proper understanding of economics as a whole, let alone any subfields that branch off of it. Every aspect of economics is relative to another within itself, much like the roots of a tree are relative to the leaves or fruit that it bears. Attempting to distinguish between micro and macroeconomics in terms of significance to the real world is unavailing. Having a formal comprehension of this science begins with the principles and theor...
However, economics is relative to everyone’s life. We can still feel the wound of financial crisis up to today. It’s useful for everyone to learn something about economics.
Economics is the study of how best to allocate scarce resources throughout an entire market. Economics affect our lives on a daily basis, whether it is on a business level or a personal level.
The study of economics is important to everyone. Financial decisions affect everyone in their day-to-day routines. Economics is the study of how society manages its scarce resources (Mankiw, 2012). Macroeconomics is the study of economy wide phenomena, including inflation, unemployment, Gross Domestic Product, and economic growth (Mankiw, 2012). Macroeconomics is important because, it is how all of us relate into markets and economies. Many news articles today are centered on the economy and current events. One of these articles lends itself to many economic principles and ideas. Even though there are many important topics not covered in the article, the article titled, "You Are What You Owe" in Time, encompassed many general economic principles as well as the many macroeconomics indices illustrated in the article.
The crucial importance and relevance of economics related disciplines to the modern world have led me to want to pursue the study of these social sciences at a higher level. My study of Economics has shown me the fundamental part it plays in our lives and I would like to approach it with an open mind - interested but not yet fully informed.
Finance is a field that had always fascinated me right from my undergraduate college days. What make me interested in this particular field of study are the art of finance and the complexity of investment market which would allow me to employ my personal skills, such as analytical and communication skills, along with my personal characteristics such as dedication and compassion for what I do. As one of the most important sector in the world, I believe it would provide me with a broad range of career options.

According to Sloman (2003), many people think that economics is about money. Well, to some extent this is true. Economics has a lot to do with money: with how much money people are paid; how much they spend; what is costs to buy various items; how much money firms earn; how much money there is in total in the economy. But despite the large number of areas in which our lives are concerned with money, economics is more than just the study of money. It is concerned with the production of goods and services and the ...
In today's world, economics associated disciplines are of fundamental significance and application and this has encouraged me to pursue a degree in Economics. Economics has an important relevance in all of our lives. As consumers we try to make the best of our limited incomes. As workers we take our place in the job market. As citizens of a country our lives are affected by the decisions of our government: decisions over taxes, decisions over spending on health and education, decisions on interest rates, decisions that affect unemployment, inflation and growth. As dwellers on the planet Earth we are affected by the economic decisions of each other: the air we breathe, the water we drink and the environment we leave for future generations are all affected by the economic decisions taken by the human race. It is these stimulating issues that excite me about economics. I enjoy studying Economics enormously and believe my passionate interest in economics is continually strengthened by my regular reading of 'The Economist'
I began to get fascinated by our capitalist world’s economy at a very early age of my life. Growing up, I was incredibly curious to unravel how systems function, and this curiosity developed into a burning desire to learn how processes and organizations operate and run our world. As I started my first job, I realized how much I needed to be better acquainted with the science of money making and the scientific approaches to money management. Later on in my life, being within a company system, I wanted to see the big picture by learning where such a company stands in the midst of all other business interactions locally and internationally. Being involved in the company’s practices I started analyzing the methods used by my managers, the causes and consequences of their managerial choices.
I dealt with strategy and financial matters for our virtual enterprise, while my colleagues were working on marketing and manufacturing. During the four months of the exercise, I have experienced finance from various aspects: capital budgeting, through selecting favorable investments for upcoming quarters; debt management, by assessing the necessary amount and efficiency of loans; profitability analysis and dividend policy, which have been used to compile the company’s general performance index. Working in a multinational team, which included an American, a Norwegian and a Moldovan, strengthened my negotiation skills, as well as flexibility and cooperation. But above all, this experience intensified my passion for finance. Of course, a pleasant bonus was the fact that, in the end, our company’s financial performance was six times the performance of the second-best team.
Business finance has taught me how to manage risk and return as well as making capital investment decisions throughout the semester. Professor Schott has gone through each chapter carefully well making sure that each student grasps each concept before moving on. He has used many tools such as LearnSmart, lectures and homework assignments to make sure that us students have a good idea of the concept before giving us exams.
Financial theories are the building blocks of today's corporate world. "The basic building blocks of finance theory lay the foundation for many modern tools used in areas such asset pricing and investment. Many of these theoretical concepts such as general equilibrium analysis, information economics and theory of contracts are firmly rooted in classical Microeconomics" (Oaktree, 2005)
