The Struggle of Immigrants in America
The U.S has a prolonged history of discrimination. In the late 17th century, when America declared as a free country, only the white gentility had the privileged of “freedom” and African American continue their life as slaves for many decades. As the country grows, it became a dream land, a refuge for immigrations fled from their country to seek freedom and pursuit happiness. However, the gene of discriminations stuck deeply in the mind of the early founding fathers; hence their descendents also obtained the hatred toward immigrations who look differently. In the late 1800s and the early 1900s, many immigrants such as the Jews, Chinese and Japanese immigrations came to America with the hope for better life also got exploited, and treated brutally in many ways. Although their contributions to the American were ineligible, their lives were cruel not only because they were treated badly from the government but also from the competition with the white labors for low paying employments.
Many immigrants came to America with many different reasons and share the same feeling. Jewish people were expunged from their homeland because of the long lasting, futile hatred between religions. The Chinese people fled from their mainland due to the upraising revolutions and the Opium war with the British. Lastly, the Japanese came to America because of the Meijin revolution that caused a lot of harness to the living of many Japanese in their home. They were all immigrated to America wishing to seek freedom, or better living conditions. The large community of different immigrants coming to America was also benefited the country’s economics because many immigrants were very skillful and their cost of labor we...

The Chinese were then moved to working at the laundry business where then had to spend all days in a solitary room washing white men clothes. Although the immigrants were treated unfairly in America, they still struggle as a minority group such as the African American and the women communities to try to rebuild America in a way that would give their descendants better opportunities.
Nowadays, America has become diverse; many professions belonged to different people from different races. Although discrimination is still occurred occasionally in America, this is now not a problem of a small group but the many people is against it. Thanks to the immigrants who came to America long time ago, their struggle and battle for a better living has been paid off for their descendants.
