Beneath a questionable mythology lurks a terrifying tale about a viral outbreak linked to vampirism!
Guillermo del Toro isn’t well known for his work on television but that changed when “The Strain” was unleashed on FX July 13. The acclaimed film director and writer united with Carlton Cuse (executive producer of lost) to bring the adaptation of Chuck Hogan and del Toro’s gruesome vampire trilogy of novels to life on the small screen.
Supernatural shows in the horror genre with vampires and other horrifying creatures are nothing new yet “The Strain” manages to introduce a whole new side to the dark world which has certainly changed the way people see vampires in the horror genre in TV and in film for quite some time in the way that it abandons the commonplace ideas of pale fanged creatures turning into bats, …show more content…

When “The Master” is introduced viewers quickly realize how Setrakian has been right all along. Somewhere in the deep guts of the airport an official follows a high pitched sound and stumbles upon The Master. The “hooded giant” which looks like the grim reaper fires a tentacle out of his mouth, which fastens onto the official and drains the blood out of him. The Master snaps the man's neck and bashes his head in. This new myth of Dracula adapted from Del Toro’s trilogy is ultimately driven by its characters and is about the power a single emotion has to overcome all others
