Veronica had softened up by the time they got to Brayden’s first request destination after the face paint. The line for the Spooky Maze was lengthier than she thought it would be, but Brayden had insisted. She’d promised it was his day, so she relinquished. It was still hard to look at his face, but at least she was getting over the revulsion she felt from looking at her own son. She thought about what Martinez said and tried to not let her deepest instincts take over. Yes, it was probably nothing at all. Maybe no one was in danger. But the sacrifice, Veronica. Just like Abernathy all those years ago. It’s too close to the past. Veronica looked around at the people in line waiting to go into the maze. God, there were so many clowns. They ranged from middle-aged to young children. Some parents even had their babies made up as clowns. Men, as well as some women, were in full greasepaint makeup (some with …show more content…
She did her breathing exercises and got herself as calm as she could when the doors to the maze opened and people began jostling and pushing their way inside. Veronica and Brayden went with the flow and soon found themselves inside the doors. The maze started from the very start, with alternate ways to go. Mirrors lined the dark walls, making it difficult to know which way to turn. Disorientation happened quickly and it was easy to think you were going the correct way to get to the exit, only to find yourself deeper in the maze. Most of the fairgoers streamed forward or to the right. Veronica went with her instinct to go left, away from the madness of people. She pulled Brayden along the left hallway, some people in front of and behind them, but soon the turns began to separate people altogether. The corridors began to grow darker the further in they went. People’s voices, which were loud and close-by to begin with, began to fade and lose

It was cold, dark, and he had no idea what was going on all he can remember partially of his name. He had started hearing conspicuous noises. He then looked at the sides of the chained wall. He saw this terrifying creature, then jolted back as soon as he saw it. Everything had just stopped and the top of the room opened up. This guy had then jumped down and brought him up and said, “Day one greenie.” As soon as he got up he started to run. But after 5-10 seconds he then fell. The guy who brought him up told him, “As long as you’re here you’ll never run again.”
Lets just say that they were very very mad. As they walked deeper into the Asylum the spirits of the patients got angrier and angrier. They eventually found a good spot to start the game. Alexis got the camera ready. They set the board up with the Planchette facing where it said Ouija. They start the Video, “Hey guys Alexis here and today I am joined by Kara, Alice, and Mckenzie, Today we are doing the Ouija board challenge. The worst part is that we are doing it in the old and abandoned insane asylum, Let’s just get started,” Mckenzie states. They set their fingers on the Planchette and moved it in a circular motion saying these words in unison with Alexis recording the whole thing.. “Spirits, We wish to speak with you, we welcome you with open arms and wish for you to speak with us.” They move the planchette into the center of the board and Alice asks “Are there any spirits here with us?” and the planchette moves to the Yes. Mckenzie then asks “How many spirits are there?” The planchette went to the M. “M,” Kara states. Then to the A. “A,” Mckenzie says. It moves to the N. “N,” Alice states. Finally it moved to the Y. “Y,” Alexis said. “M A N Y Many spirits, probably too many to count,” Kara says. “Did some of you live here?” Alice asks the spirits. The planchette moved to Yes. “Do you know us?” Alexis asks while still holding the camera. It moved to No. “What is one of your names?” Alice asks. The letters spelt out James. “Hello James,” Kara said to the spirits she could feel around her, Not knowing which spirit was James. The planchette suddenly got much more force added onto it, and all it spelt out was ZoZo. Everyone playing the game suddenly got worried. Alexis who was filming the whole thing was worried as well. Alexis was
I have always loved to read. While most children prefer watching television, I would rather read a book. About two years ago I read the book The Maze Runner, by James Dashner. After reading this book, I realized just how much Christ effects literature. I learned that we can see aspects of Christ in books written by secular authors. You can find Christian allegories that the author didn’t even realize they were writing.
Who doesn’t love a poor chuddy kid that justs wants to have fun. In the Maze Runner Chuck fits this role perfectly. I think that Chuck’s death is a major turning point for Thomas and the entire series. In this chapter I will discuss Chuck, his loyalty and death. First Chuck is an unfortunate serotype: The chubby kid who is lonely and sometimes left out.
They live in the castle to keep it safe. The narrator is in the castle
Thomas finds out that in the maze, the walls that are moving aren't just moving randomly, but they are actually spelling out letters and words which is a clue for them
Thomas and all the runners still go out running into the maze since its more important now because if there is no more sun the plants and animals will not survive for long. They encounter a Griever before long. When Minho takes a second look at it, he sees that the Griever has gone. They take off after it. They follow the Griever finally coming to the end at the Cliff. The Griever goes over edge and disappears from sight. Three times they have seen Grievers go over the Cliff edge. It seems that this is how the Grievers leave the Maze. Thomas believes that if the Grievers can leave like this, so can the Gladers. Minho suggests they test this and throw rocks off the cliff and only in a certain spot – a couple square feet- is a disappearing spot as apposed to falling into grey like everywhere else. Thomas and Minho head back straight for the map room, and gather maps and head to Alby and Newt. Newt and Alby look concerned and say “The supplies didn't come up through the Box today as expected.” Minho explains what he and Thomas found. They wonder if there is some way to block the 'Griever Hole'. Chuck then runs over to tell them that Teresa is awake. She tells him to come get her before she forgets everything she has recalled so far. She says "The Maze is a code, Tom. the Maze is a
Denial is one of those emotions that leads to personal problems as well as community problems. When not dealt with it can lead to suffering, isolation, and family dysfunction. In the Labyrinth and A Monster Calls both characters are shown to the reader or watcher that a person can overcome their denial, suffering, family dysfunction, and isolation because with these things a person can grow into a mature being and have a deeper understanding of one’s self.
Not so long ago, my sister and I went to a haunt attraction an amusement park was holding. We walked through a house where people would jump out of nowhere to scare you. From time to time, we’d walk through items that had either moved or rattled. These simple changes made both my sister and I very uncomfortable and left us terror-stricken all night. No one would feel comfortable to look at an object, blink, then see that the object wasn’t at it’s rightful place. That’s not normal, especially when you're by yourself. That would mean someone or something else is with you. You know what else would scare us? When people around us transform. It’s like meeting someone new and thinking hey, she’s cool… but once you get to know her, you realize you
In The Maze Runner, Thomas recalls nothing of his life except for his name. He finds himself surrounded by a bunch of boys. Like all the other Gladers, Thomas appears in the Glade terrified and disoriented. However, he senses a powerful bond to the Maze. He quickly exhibits courage and confidence when he saves Alby and Minho from the Grievers after they had to spend the night in the Maze.
In the title “In This Strange Labyrinth”, the labyrinth is symbolic of love’s maze-like qualities. The speaker describes her predicament by saying, “In this strange Labyrinth how shall I turn/Ways are on all sides” (1-2). A different path on every side surrounds her, and every way seems to be the wrong way. She is confused about which way she should go. Wroth is conveying the theme of love in a decidedly negative way, for according to myth, the Labyrinth was where the Minotaur lived and before it’s demise, death was evident for all visitors of the maze. The speaker is struggling with every choice she may make and cannot rest or find aid until she finds the best way: “Go forward, or stand still, or back retire;/ I must these doubts endure without allay/ Or help, but travail find for my best hire” (10-11). She has several choices and each one is confusing and leaves her feeling helpless.
I was still debating on whether or not to go on the newest and scariest ride of Schlitterbahn. Anna was humming "Jon Jacob," and acting like it was no big deal. Tennessee was practically shaking and saying, "Everything will be fine. I'll ride the kiddy slide." She was joking, but I knew that thought was probably going through her he...
“Congrats you two,” Eric breathed, a stupid smile on his face,”Welcome to the skulls, the head honcho wants to actually meet you both in the morning, get some rest and meet me here in the morning, six o’clock,” he says and then leaves us to walk back to our apartment, stained with the memory of what we had just done, haunted by the screams of many, but mostly the young girl who had just lost a parent; a young girl who reminded me so much of myself.
As the crowd built up, it moved towards the doors that led into the actual theatre. I could see that some type of fog machine was at work. A pale mist came out of the cracks of the door. The inconspicuous sound of music could be heard just over the chatter of the crowd of people. Behind those doors there was a thrilling adventure about to ta...
