Matt Steinmetz Mrs. London English 5H 30 January 2018 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone book and movie comparison There are many differences between the book and movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The theme, plot, and characters from the book and movie are importantly different. Harry has many different adventures and nick nacks that people don't know about. The theme of the book isn't very different from the movie because of many reasons. Harry still shows us the meaning of being a true wizard. Learning to stick to your goals in life without giving up. This is same in both the movie and book. Harry also shows us to stick with your gut in both the movie and book. Harry accomplishes things he never knew he could on he realized
to follow his gut. The plot from the book is different from the movie because of a lot of different scenes. Harry still tries to save the sorcerer's stone but there are different ways he gets there. First, During the zoo and snake scene in the movie the glass vanished, Dudley fell inside and got trapped inside. In the book, he leaped backward and the snake slithered away. Second, In the movie, Harry dodges the troll's attacks while he waits for Ron to get it together. In the book, Harry jumps on the trolls back and works with Ron to nock the troll out. The character from the book is the exact same as the movie. Harry has the exact same look from the book to the movie. He does not change at all. His personality changes a little more. Harry is more achieving in the book. During the movie, he usually just agrees with what people say and does what people ask him to do. In conclusion, the book and movie are for most of the part the same. The theme didn't change that much at all. The plot of the book did a little only from a few the different scenes. Harry who is playing the main role did not change nearly at all just a few mind differences and how he acted.
There are few similarities between the book and the movie. Usually most movies are similar to
The books, A Wrinkle in Time and And Then There Were None, both have many differences in the movie versions. The directors of both movies change the plot to make the movie see fit to what they may have imaged the book to be, while still keeping the story line the same.
For example, Mama goes to the bank in the movie and is given a hard time about paying her mortgage, but this did not happen in the book. Another major difference is that the school bus scene, where the Logan kids played a trick on the white kids, was not shown in the movie, even though it was an important part of the story. There are some character changes as well. Lillian Jean, Jeremy, R.W, and Melvin are Simms’ in the book, but in the movie they are Kaleb Wallace’s children. However, the main plot difference is how the movie starts in the middle, summarizing everything from the first part of the book very briefly. Additionally, many scenes are switched around and placed out of order. Altogether, the plot and character changes contribute to my unfavorable impression of the
The movie and the story had some of the same characters but some weren't exactly the same. The movie introduced many different characters and changed some of the others. For example, the movie had the plant lady and had the mentor of Anderton as the founders of Precrime while in the book, Anderton was the only founder of Precrime. Also, Witwer wasn't blond he had black hair and Kapler wasn't named Kapler he was named Crow. In the story they had the red head Fleming who did not exist
In both the novel and movie focus on the war. The war influences the characters to enroll. Also, the main setting is at the Devon School. However, in the novel Gene visits Leper at his house but in the movie Leper lives in the woods. In the novel Gene is coming back to the Devon School 15 years later. However, in the book he is coming to Devon as a new student. Therefore, similarities and differences exist in time and setting in the novel and the movie. In the novel and the movie there are similarities and differences in events, character, and time and setting.
In the movie, it is told in a third person point of view and the characters look a lot more different than how they do in the book. The movie goes by much quicker than the book. Also Pony goes straight home after the church burns down.
Usually movies try to take the story to a different level or by adding parts or just try to change it to a completely different story. Some of the differences between the movie as to the book are some little and large differences. They might also try taking little parts away that will change how the readers see the story characters. An example of that would be Walter not smoking in the movie (Pg 115). Walter usually smokes because he is stressed or just as a way to relax. Walter also does not get punched by Mam...
One of the big differences that stood out to me specifically was how Luke and Percy did not even battle each other for the bolt in book but in movie they used the bolt against each other to get it. In the book Luke stole the bolt and gave it to Ares so Percy would fight him. On the other hand, in the movie Luke and Percy brawl it out for the bolt(Rick Riordan). My feelings toward the two not fighting in the book are not good. Them not making the two fight in the book made it less interesting because why would you have Luke give it to someone else so that person can fight Percy. Stunningly they didn’t fight and I was a bit surprised by this by this. Another big difference that I noticed was was how in the book Percy was given three pearls to get out of the underworld but in the movie they must find the three pearls throughout the book. I like the movies interpretation of this because it makes it more interesting for me because it made it more of journey instead of having the pearls given to him. All Percy had to say was “ Where are the pearls that I have been promised.” (Rick Riordan) which wasn’t as interesting has them fighting monsters to get
Overall, the movie and book have many differences and similarities, some more important than others. The story still is clear without many scenes from the book, but the movie would have more thought in it.
The plot in the film is very similar to the book but in parts, especially towards the end, the plot is slightly different to the film. The plot is varied in the film to show
Both the book and the film have the similarities and differences, but the main differences consist of the shoes, the wicked witch, and the ending of the story. First the shoes in the book were silver, but in the movie they were ruby. Second the wicked witch of the west in the text had one powerful eye and only appeared once, yet in the movie the witch had both eyes, and appeared 3 times before the final encounter. Last, Dorothy in the text actually went to the land of oz and in the movie it was all a dream. In conclusion the Wizard of Oz had many differences between the book and the film that changed the shape of the
One major difference in the movie that was not in the book was the starting scene of the movie was set in the moor with Sir Charles being attacked by the Hound. In the book the starting scene was when Watson and Holmes had just found a walking stick that had the initials C.C.H. on it. I think that the movie starting scene was more informative because it let you know about what was happening and it also gave some more suspense to the film.
Furthermore, one of the main differences between the movie and the novel, Twilight, are the characters. Although both stories share the same characters and background information about the characters, there are differences in their
Once a Vice President of the United States of America, Hubert H. Humphrey said “The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it.” In the novel Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K Rowling, Harry Potter has been sent to a new school of wizardry and witchcraft and has gotten a new and very different life. Having a new life is just like throwing your old life in the trash. Even though you try to change there is always a chance of having something worse or something better.
To begin, there are many similarities and differences in the characters personalities. One similarity would be Aunt polly not having the hear Tom when he was being naughty in both the book and the movie. Another similarity would be Huck and Tom always acting michiviouse they’re always going on adventures and causing trouble for adults. One difference would be Huck in the movie seemed a little self centered, he seemed that way because when he had the chance to help Muff he didn’t want to because he was scared he would be killed by Injun Joe. Another difference would be Muff seemed more caring in the movie like when he was telling stories to the kids and he took them in the cave which made you feel a little sorry ...
