When I was younger I played a popular game of hide-and-seek, me and my friends would go hide and someone would come find me if everyone else was found and they couldn’t find me I would yell Olly olly oxen free! Revealing myself to whom I was hiding from and being the winner of that round. This game is exactly how I would define the Social Penetration Theory because when I first meet someone I hide myself from them. Self-disclosing any information that I feel may scare them or as in relation to the game hide and seek make me loose. In addition I feel that hiding information in the beginning of new relationships will help save the relationship from depenetration. Stunned at the question I didn’t say a word. I felt more comfortable with him by this time however, tears still rolled down my eyes as I started to tell him that her dad is incarcerated and will never be physically apart of hear life. He comforted me and told me that he would not mind being a father figure in my daughter’s life. The response soothed my soul because I knew that information could have caused depentration in our relationship. The information actually made our relationship grow because before him my daughter never had a man correct her, love her or teach her and it made me like him more. In addition he was able to open up and tell me that he had an altercation with his daughters mom but he would never put his hand on a woman. He explained that she punched him in the face and it was a reaction he had that cause the altercation. I could have chosen not to accept that and ended the relationship but he was able to be open with me and II accept his past just as he accepts
