The definition of exemplary is something or someone, which represents the best of its kind (desirable model). In both Christianity and Islam, Mary and Jesus are represented as perfect examples for someone to admire and follow. Even though both religions might have contrasting views on Mary and Jesus (for example, regarding Mary’s immaculate conception or Jesus’ divinity), however both agree on the fact that Mary and Jesus were pure, holy and free of sin.
“Hail, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” According to both the religions, Mary, who was a virgin and betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, was considered to be the ‘most blessed’ among all women. “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God…..How shall this be, since I have no husband?” The archangel Gabriel tells Mary that she is going to have a baby and that she should name the child Jesus. Despite the fact that she is very young and a virgin, she does not disbelieve the angel. She has no fear of what the society would think, she just wants to understand more about her pregnancy, however she has no doubt. Th...
Jesus’ teachings created the religion of Christianity. Though Christians were persecuted during the beginning of time in which they began to spread, many factors helped to shape Christianity into the popular religion it is today. Christianity was able rise from just a Jesus ministry to a popular religion with the help of martyrdom, missionaries, governmental support and Jesus himself.
According to the bible if a women is with child, but is also untouched, then the child is a son of God. It was a miracle that Mary became impregnated with Jesus; it was a miracle that Mrs. Meany became impregnated with Owen. Both children are thus marked, and become a tool of God.

The name did not mean anything to Bernadette as she did not understand what it meant. She went to the priest repeating the name as she walked along and told the priest the name of the beautiful lady. When the priest heard the name “Immaculate Conception”, he was all the more skeptical. Four years earlier – 1854, the pontiff, Pope Pius IX had declared the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. So the priest said to Bernadette, “The Lady should have said ‘I am the fruit of the Immaculate Conception’ not ‘I am the Immaculate Conception.” Bernadette insisted that she got the name correctly and that it was what the Lady

In his Crucifixion, with the Virgin and Saint John the Evangelist Mourning (c.1460), a piece within the Northern Renaissance collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rogier van der Weyden portrays a stark image of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The right panel of the diptych depicts the gruesome image of a crucified Christ. Weight pulls the emaciated body down into a Y-shape, contrasting the T-shape of the cross it is mounted on. The only movement comes from the loincloth wrapped around Christ’s waist that dances in the wind. Blood visibly trickles from the corpse’s wounds. Behind the body, a red cloth is draped down the grey wall. At the base of the cross sits a skull and bone. The left panel portrays the Virgin Mary swooning in despair as Saint John attempts to support her weight. Her hands are clasped in prayer as she gazes up at her lifeless son. Both figures are clothed in pale draping robes. The vibrant red of the cloth that hangs from the grey wall in the background contrasts the subdued colors of the
Religion is a key aspect to the culture of today’s society, as well as, for thousands of years prior. One major key distinction remains, most religions are male dominated traditions. Catholic, Islamic, and Jewish philosophy truly exemplify this. However, the importance and major role women play within the realm of different theologies is evident. Mary, the Catholic Virgin Mary, the Jewish Rachel, and Islamic Fatima are three important saints whose influence and importance is recognized. The term saint sometimes may blur between mortal beings and heavenly realms. Nonetheless, the three saints named have significance within their particular religious content. Rachel, Mary and Fatima contrast significantly in legends, descriptions and religious philosophies, but are comparable in devotions and reasons revered.

The role of the prophets Muhammad and Jesus was to be messengers of God. They both had different Gods but had the same idea of what their God had said to them. For example, Muhammad like stated in the Qur’an is the messenger of Allah. Jesus on the other hand is the messenger of God in the bible. They’re mission was to spread the word to everyone of what God commanded to them. The prophet’s purpose was to explain the plan and purpose of God and inform other individuals about it. When comparing both Muhammad and Jesus there are similarities and differences in the role that they both played and what they believed.

At the first glance, Islam and Christianity appear to have nothing in common, however; as you go beyond the surface, they appear to have many similarities such as their beliefs of God, their beliefs of life after death, their holy scriptures, and their prayers. These religions, although are two entirely different beliefs, share a similar origin. Like many other religions, they both claim to be the one and only true way to God. In order to truly see and understand their similarities, one must date back to the rise and birth of Christianity and Islam. Throughout the course of this essay, I will compare the many facets that show the alikeness between these two growing religions.
