The Similarities Between Regina George And Adolf Hitler

Powerful, fascist, feared by many, ruler of loyal followers -- now I can probably guess precisely who popped into your mind, Regina George, the heartless antagonist from the 2004 hit movie, Mean Girls. Alright, I realize that she was not the first person you thought of, but now that I have mentioned her, you might be realizing how well she fits that description. Of course, we all know that I was alluding to Adolf Hitler, the Chancellor of Germany and leader of the Nazi party during WWII, in my first sentence. There is no doubt that these two are despicable people, but what is the purpose of bringing both of these people up, you ask? Well, Hitler and George are more similar than some may think, especially in how they betrayed others, were

heartless people, and how they were both leaders of loyal followers.
The first way Regina and Adolf are strikingly similar is in how they betray others.

Some may argue that how a ruler violated many treaties, and how a high school girl spread rumors, is completely incomparable; however, any high school aged girl in America can tell how nasty rumors can be extremely detrimental to one’s reputation. As many people know, Hitler was terribly two-faced, and that might even be an understatement. He violated the Treaty of Versailles numerous times, and destroyed countries he promised he would never invade. Regina is also known for telling someone one thing and then doing the exact opposite. For example, immediately after she told her ‘friend’, Cady, that she would talk to her crush, (Aaron Samuels [Regina’s ex-boyfriend]) for her, she kissed him at his Halloween party in front of Cady. Only the most heartless of people would betray others like

this.
The second way these evil beings are the same is how heartless they were when it came to others. We all know the terrible, torturous things Hitler did the Jews and other people he thought were inferior to him, and while Hitler’s cold heart may have be more well-known and fatal, it was still comparable to George’s cruelty towards her peers. Sure, mass murder of an entire race is different than being unkind to all the girls in a high school; nevertheless, there is no denying that these people impacted everyone around them in their lives. Regina made a “Burn Book”, a book where she wrote down terrible rumors and judgemental thoughts about every girl in her high school. Later, she prints out the book and leaves copies all around the school causing mass chaos. At the end of the scene every girl in the entire high school admits to feeling personally victimised. What an awful thing to do? How can these people accomplish such horrid things? Well, they definitely did not do it by themselves.
The final reason Hitler and George are basically the same person is that they were both feared and followed by many.

What would a leader be without loyal followers? Just another power-hungry, greedy individual. Hitler had many followers: Nazi soldiers, the Hitler Youth, and most of Germany’s residents. Regina’s army may not have been that large (Cady, Gretchen, and Karen), but they were just as loyal. They may have not shot people for their leader, but they did help her in any way they could. Gretchen and Karen secretly are jealous of Regina, but would be clueless as to what to do with her power. The Nazi soldiers may have felt the same way toward Hitler. So even though their armies are not the same in size or brutality, they were just as loyal and brain-washed as the

other.
I hope you can now realize that though they may be different, Regina George and Adolf Hitler share many of the same awful qualities: betrayal towards others, heartlessness, and being a ruthless leader to loyal followers. There are even more similarities between these two psychos that I did not mention, like rumors about their deaths, fondness of a burn book or burning books; the list goes on. Regina George may not be a murderer of thousands of people, but she did victimize many of her peers. Hitler may not have been as secretive as a high school girl, but he was cruel in his own way. So, I challenge you to open your mind when you hear sequence of words to consider all the possible things it may be describing because you never know how similar two totally different people can be. In the end, it does not matter whether you are a fictional character from a movie, or a leader of a rising nation, you possess the power to be a mean person.
