He is a man who has lead an incredible life that shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. He is one of the most influential civil rights activists of our generation and in this essay, we will explore the life of this incredible human being. Al Sharpton was born to Alfred Charles Sharpton Sr. and Ada Richards. However, in 1963, Alfred Sharpton Sr. left Ada and ran away with Al’s half-sister. Ew. from Samuel J. Tilden High School and proceeded to Brooklyn College, however he dropped out after only two years of education at the school. He is a devout Baptist very involved in his church who, at the age of four, preached his first to the congregation of his local church. Sharpton’s father leaving was very hard on both him and his mother.
They had to overcome many hardships in his early years. They were faced with extreme economic difficulties and his mother was forced to make very difficult choices. Al also had a weight problem. At his largest, he weighed in at three-hundred five pounds being supported on his five foot ten inch tall body. He has since, lost the weight and now weighs a mere 129 pounds all without the use of plastic surgery. On January 12, 1991, an attempt was made on Sharpton’s life when he was stabbed in the chest in a schoolyard in Brooklyn while preparing to lead a protest and he narrowly escaped his serious injuries. Al Sharpton has lead fifteen different race related demonstrations, marches, and protests. Most notably, he led the march on Bensonhurst after an African-American teen was shot and killed and three others were brutally beaten. He also led a march during the Crown Heights Riots in August of 1991 and the Vieques Protests in Puerto Rico. It was there that he was arrested and jailed for ninety days at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York for protesting on a military target practice range. In 1988, Sharpton worked as an undercover FBI informant working to stem the flow of crack cocaine in New York City. He would often pose as a Latino business man who was a former capo (or captain) for the Colombo crime
family. Sharpton has influenced the way the world thinks and views itself in many ways. He is regarded as both one the greatest and most controversial civil rights leaders who has ever lived. He’s lead some of the largest demonstrations regarding African-American civil rights. When racial tensions are on the rise, Sharpton is almost always the first to tackle the issue head on. More recently, he led a march about Eric Garner’s death in New York City. Leading over 5000 people to the location where he was killed. The most significant thing that learned about Sharpton is the fact that after he was stabbed in the chest in an attempt on his life, he still wanted to lead the protest despite his injuries. This shows that he is truly dedicated to cause and is completely willing to do whatever it takes to have equal rights, even if it costs him his life.

In the novel The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, highlights a powerful drama based on the chaotic Salem Witch Trials. Salem is governed strictly where the bible is the law and anyone who doesn 't follow the law must be acquainted with the Devil. Witchcraft started by a group of girls getting caught "dancing in the woods" (Trevino). In Salem, dancing was prohibited and the girls knew they were in trouble so without thinking twice they started accusing others of being seen with the Devil. The main character in Salem is John Proctor that portrays the classic tragic hero who falls to his death. This allowed the reader to fully understand that he is a honorable, simple, virtue, and "sinner" man (Miller 19). In his lifetime, he runs into trouble with Abigail that ruined his relationship with God, his wife Elizabeth, and also damaged his self image. We see the external conflict that Miller illustrates with John and the Salem Witch Trials that is examined on his use of two tools: plot and characterization.

The correctional system is based on helping offenders become part of society and not commit any crimes. Many prisons begin the correcting criminals since they are inside the jails, but many prisons do not. Prisons provide prisoners with jobs inside the prison where they get very little pay close to nothing and many have programs that will help them advance their education or get their high school diploma. There are various programs prisons provide to prisoners to help them get a job or have a skill when they are released from prison. In contrast, prisons that do not provide programs or help to prisoners rehabilitate and enter society again will be more likely to commit another crime and go back to jail. The Shawshank Redemption prison did not

“Well, all the plays that I was trying to write were plays that would grab an audience by the throat and not release them, rather than presenting an emotion which you could observe and walk away from.” by Arthur Miller. All great works provide a way to reach in and grab the audience through the reoccurring themes like, greed, jealousy, reputation and hypocrisy.
