My turn To Choose Am I on the right path; am I choosing the right major? Or what kind of job would I get after finishing college? As a college student I need to ask myself these questions so I know what I want. Even though a college student switches their major for all the right reasons, but student might sacrifice their happiness. What should college students hear before settling on the major? After reading the Scott Keyes article, I found it effective because I understood the purpose of him writing about college students changing their major. Students often think that they can only get jobs in that specific field because of their degree. Keyes describes that regardless of what students study, school will not prepare them for the workforce. He also explains that an employer likes to see a diverse background from potential employees when they are hiring, because the student’s major might be an asset to their company. With that in mind, it is important to choose something that interests students so it won’t bore them as they get older. I personally feel like if my parents didn’t think I would be successful in kinesiology, I wouldn’t want to major in it. I would most likely choose another major because my parents would make me reconsider my first option. Another major I would consider studying would be interior design, but the problem is; I don’t love it.
