The president of the United States of America is important role to its ability to run successfully, and smoothly. The president makes vital decisions that have huge impacts for all those involved such as, its citizens, foreign citizens, and its allies. Barack Obama made his history in 2008, when he became the first African American president. This essay will look at his background, his run for president, his achieves, future plans for America, and my opinion as a British citizen.
Barack Hussein Obama II was born in 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the son of Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Sr. His mother a white American citizen from Kansas and his father a black African foreign student studying in Hawaii. Barack Sr left Hawaii to continue his work in his hometown in Africa. For some years, Barack Obama lived with his mother and stepfather in Indonesia; it was from here that he went back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents when his mother felt Barack wasn’t getting the best education. Barack Obama left Hawaii to further his education, studying in both California and New York City. In 1989, Barack Obama began working at a Chicago law firm when he first met Michelle. Michelle, a Princeton University and Harvard Law School graduate who was Barack boss. “First Lady Michelle LaVaugh married Barack Hussien Obama on October 3rd, 1992” (When did First Lady…) after dating for over four years. Whilst living in Chicago, the Obama’s extended their family with the birth of their first daughter in 1998, and in 2001 Michelle gave birth to another daughter.

Living in a world were Africa Americans are a minority, and using his passion for helping other he has become one of the power men in the world. He has adapted to the constant changes in society, and tried to give all Americans a fair and happy life. He stopped a war, captures a fugitive, and passed laws are just a few of things that make Barack Obama so successful to serve two terms as a president. His honesty about his past, and his family relationship has made the Obama’s one of the most influential in the world.
Colin Powell was an important man because of his accomplishments while he served in the military. He also played an important role in politics helping our country stay safe and organized. He has been in near death situations multiple times, including the helicopter crash in Vietnam. Colin’s military career started when he was about twenty years old and lasted for more than twenty years. He has proven to be a brave soldier His major accomplishments in the military have not gone unrecognized. Michelle attended Whitney M. Young Magnet High School (1981), Princeton University (1981-1985) and Harvard Law School (1985-1988). Early Life, Childhood and Adult Life Michelle Obama grew up in Chicago, Illinois, which was where she was born. Her father, Fraser Robinson III, was a pump operator for the Chicago Water Department. Her mother, Marian, would stay at home and it was her number one priority to raise Michelle and her younger brother Craig. Michelle’s childhood was a happy one.

Barak Obama is the 44th president of the United States and also the1st black man to hold this position. He has emerged from a society of segregation to become one of the greatest leaders of the free world. He has followed in the footsteps of many great black leaders including Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. These freedom fighters have paved the way for the emergence of African Americans as leaders. Martin Luther King Jr. was a fore runner in the passing of the voting rights act of 1965 which gave everyone the chance to vote, regardless of sex, race, and class. This voting rights act now allows millions of people the opportunity to exercise their franchise. This voting freedom is one of the factors which helped to gain Obama his victory in the 2008 United States election and again in 2012. People of all races can now vote and this paper will therefore seek to critically asses the role of race in the election of Barack Obama as President.
Barack Hussein Obama also struggled and suffered a lot during his life, but he ended up as the 44th President of The United States of American. He achieved his American Dream, and in his situation it was slightly impossible. Barack Hussein Obama comes from a Muslim family, and he is also black, and his dad is from Kenya, considering the racism in the world today, and the fact that he’s not fully American, achieving what he achieved was almost impossible. Obama showed how America is free and anyone can achieve their American Dream there.
Barack Obama is a politically successful man, despite what the statistics indicate of his race and circumstances. How did he achieve this success? Certainly, a major factor of his success today is the dramatic change in racial viewpoints since Barack’s birth in the early 1960’s. However, in order for him to have risen to this stature, we have to look at the factors surrounding his youth, which paved the path to his success today. There are three major contributing factors, which lead to Barack as a successful person, environment, education and family.
In the autobiography, Obama entails on the beginning journey of his life from early childhood to young adulthood. The novel begins with him finding out from his aunt that his father has passed away in Nairobi. Obama’s father left him and his mother when he was only 2 years old. Obama then talks about the family he grew up with, his mother and grandparents, and the racism they dealt with at a time when few accepted interracial relations and even more so marriages. He recalls being made fun of as a young child when other kids would make monkey noises when it was discovered his father was from Kenya. He then moves to Indonesia when his mother remarries, but then at 10 years old moves back to Hawaii where he spent his early childhood. It was with his grandparents that he developed much of his character and learned how strongly education was emphasized in his family. Obama also talks about how fascinated he was with by his father. As he grows a bit older into adolescence, Obama learns more about race relations and reads the book Heart of Darkness. This book helps him to see how white people look at black people, as a white man wrote the book talking about black people. It was a couple week after my 14th birthday when Obama became president. As a young, and adventurous person, I was not into politics. The only idea I had on politics was that everyone is just a figure-head of some sort. So I thought the same with Obama. He does not really do much. He is just a symbol. It does not really matter.
