Houlihan and Lindsay (2013) described community hubs as services which are provided through the development of infrastructure. This means, community hubs are striving to bring together organisations and companies involved in sport within a facility to work together and aim to become stronger. There is numerous purpose behind a community sport hub, such as recruiting more people, therefore coaches and officials become more skilled and it is also a pathway to develop talented athletes, however the main reason would be to increase participation in sport which can help urban recovery. CSH’s are working in a partnership, which can be defined by (Butterfoss, 2007) who stated that, partners work together and share specific strategies and concerns …show more content…
However, this is beginning to change because it has been realised that CSH’s can highly decrease the environmental issues, therefore it is no wonder there is a strong link between CSH and UR because as (Thornley, 2002) described, there is a strong competitiveness between the cities and the business because everyone is looking towards investing in the sport industry, especially in the football leagues since it is a big business. Suggestions from the UK Policy Action Team 10 report has been made and it stated that sport can highly contribute to improve the communities on a few key indicators such as health, employment, crime and education (Hall, 2004). The strategy which has the most impact so far is the planning and delivering of major events. The reason for this is because it can significantly help to increase confidence levels in local communities and it is possible to combine tourism strategies with urban planning which is great for the economy (García, 2004). If such success can be seen by executing major events, there is a huge opportunity that sport hubs can also help the economy and the environment. Another link between CSH and UR according to (Gröpel, Wegner & Schüler, 2016) is that participating in exercise health programs and related sports can always give the opportunity for further achievements. Therefore, a synergy between participants and the economy can be clearly seen because as the people achieve something, the economy and environmental rates

Abstract: The Stadium construction boom continues, and taxpayers are being forced to pay for new high tech stadiums they don’t want. These new stadiums create only part-time jobs. Stadiums bring money in exclusively for professional leagues and not the communities. The teams are turning public money into private profit. Professional leagues are becoming extremely wealthy at the taxpayers expense. The publicly-funded stadium obsession must be put to a stop before athletes and coaches become even greedier. New stadiums being built hurt public schools, and send a message to children that leisure activities are more important than basic education. Public money needs to be used to for more important services that would benefit the local economy. Stadiums do not help the economy or save struggling towns. There are no net benefits from single purpose stadiums, and therefore the stadium obsessions must be put to a stop.

The sports industry is a very big business that contributes great amounts to the economy in terms of turnover, taxes and jobs. The sports industry has an economic cycle. So it depends on different parts of the year to hold big events. The benefits to be gained are that local communities as suppliers of services and goods obtain increased business.
“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sport can awaken hope where there was previously only despair. Sport speaks to people in a language they can understand.” Nelson Mandela. Sport contributes to community identity, serving as a focal point for engagement, pride, and achievement. The diversity of sports and sporting activities (including social sport and physical recreation) makes it an ideal medium to reach men and women from every age-group, culture, and socio-economic background. The broader benefits of sports go beyond the personal benefits derived from participation. Sport is a popular focal point
...of sport. On the world stage, South Africa was recognised as a country in change and in change for the better. Yorkshire, a middle class working area was helped by the industrial revolution to help increase its population to raise the levels of interest in cricket. A local community can be united significantly by the power of the locals’ passion and pride in the club. They attain a sense of belonging in the area. Regional press raised the awareness of the club and identity of the area through its coverage of the local cricket team to which the locals felt they belonged to. Sport and identity together have a healthy relationship together in which one can benefit the other greatly. If positive identities are attained by the nation or region, they do become sustainable as everyone will follow in the positive image created around the nation or region in question.
More Jobs are now open to people who live in the city which is beneficial to the cities employment status. Businesses also benefit from stadiums. After every game or event fans rush to different restaurants, bars or etc. which contributes to both the city and the government.

An example of continuous positive economic impact would be that of Indianapolis: consisted of a large sports economy which includes the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers. According to a 2014 study conducted by the Indiana University Public Policy Institute, Central Indiana appraised an annual economic impact of $3.4 billion (Indiana University). Statistics such as this don’t hold true for all or most sport communities which is why economists deem publically financed sports arenas as an ineffective method of generating significant economic growth (Kavoori). Using for others and

In conclusion, it is explicit that sports is a positive influence on athletes, spectators and the world as a whole as it teaches imperative life lessons as well as allows its participants to experience enjoyment, fulfilment and gratification. As mentioned previously sports enables its players to bring out the best in others and create unity amongst groups as team work is so essential. This highlights the views I have in conjunction with the views of Joe Humphrey.
