Geography played a big role in history and made each empire unique in its own way. Geography had positive and negative effects when it comes to location, access to resources, and trade. For the Spanish and Mongol Empires, geography played a role in state formation as well as affected their strategies of rule. Considering that the Mongol Empire began in the 11th century and the Spanish Empire in the 15th century, the affects that geography had were significantly different regarding their state formation and forms of ruling, however, there were some slight similarities in the process of building up their empires. Both the Mongol and Spanish Empires were similar in that they used trade as a mechanism for expansion and connection, however, they differed in that the Mongol Empire focused on conquering territory throughout the Afroeurasian landmass while the Spanish Empire devoted its attention to overseas territory. The Mongol and Spanish Empires had some similarities when considering their road to successful empire building. Trade was very important for both the Mongols and Spanish Empires. Because geography restricted access to resources, trade was the ideal mechanism to overt that problem. Both empires flourished because of trade networks that they created. The Mongols and Spanish Empires relied heavily on trade in order to gain access to resources that they did not have in their own locations. The Mongol Empire valued and encouraged trade because of their lack of resources. The Silk Roads were the primary trade network that was linked to the Mongol Empire. Trade was important to the Mongols because they were able tax it. Secure trade routes were a result of the Mongols which allowed for cities to flourish and prosper with the spre... ... middle of paper ... ...ire was centered in the New World. Conquistadors conquered the native people oft the Americas and forced them to work for them. There were designated territorial boundaries which created new colonies for the Spanish to rule over. The Spanish forced the natives in the colonies to work in the mines Geography has the power to affect the way an empire forms and how it rules. Both the Mongol and Spanish Empires changed because of their geography. Trade was both a driving force behind the Mongol and Spanish Empires, but the Mongols were centered in Afroeurasia while the Spanish expanded overseas. The Mongol and Spanish empires were both limited geographically before their expansion because of their individual locations and lack of resources. Both empires were driven by the desire to increase their power and that affected their state formation and their ways of ruling.
The Aztec and Mongol empires were large, expansive realms that shared many similarities in their rise to power, but also had some differences. The Aztec and Mongol Empire's rise to power were similar politically in that they both conquered neighboring nations, similar socially in that their social structures both emphasized warriors, but were different economically in that the Aztecs relied on tributes from conquered lands to fund their expansion whereas the Mongols destroyed lands they conquered to prevent challenges to their power.
The military tactics the Mongols used were a huge help to expanding their empire. They used interrogation and were incredibly ruthless to their enemies. These tactics allowed for Genghis Khan, the leader of the Mongols at this time, to end up expanding
Mongol rule between nations both varied and shared many similarities. Both China and Russia were incorporated into the ever expanding Mongol empire. The massive expanses of land each civilization contained would help to increase the power the Mongols had. This would also help them to control more of Eurasia. Many people were killed during the brutal wars the Mongols started to try and conquer land. They were power hungry and destroyed everything that got in the way of their conquests. The Mongols never assimilated into neither Chinese nor Russian culture. This led to rebellions against the Mongols in both Chinese and Russian areas.
The Mongol empire was the largest land empire the world has ever seen. First began as a nomadic group of tribes. Mongols were united and emerged into an empire that conquered lands stretching from Europe to Central Asia under the rule of Genghis Khan. The Mongol empire was able to succeed in expanding, and conquering was due to their ability to adapt to any living conditions, their sheer brutality force, and their strong military organization. To begin, one factor that supported the Mongols in their conquests was their capacity for foraging, allowing them to survive under harsh living conditions.
Throughout ancient years, there have been many empires that have impacted culture, politics, religion, and people. The Mongol empire and the Roman empire both had their ways of growing their empires, administering their empires, having successes and failures, and legacies. As the empires began to take shape, expand, and become more complex, they will important in the lives of people.
The strongest Empires depend on their social and economic powers within their union to unit and allow them to expand and conquered further territories to improve and evolve as a whole. In the 1450-1800s two of the most powerful empires were the Russian and Spanish.. Both having Hereditary Rulers, they went on to conquer many continents and improve themselves while converting nomads and Indians into developed Catholics to prevent uprisings. Russia began to expand east for farmable land and control the trade in Asia, Spain found its way to the new world and started conquering land. The Russia and Spanish empire show many differences and similarities that show how they expanded and grew into some of the most powerful empires.
The Mongols were also known for their surprise attack which spread to other armies, making it a keen warfare used all around the world. This battle tactic consisted of a group of men who are fighting out on the battlefield and they begin to retreat only to draw the enemy into a trap. The enemy runs into a rain of arrows as the rest of the men are hiding off to the side with loaded weapons, and fierce ground fighters ready for combat. This is one key that the Mongols had to help them conquer Asia. Lastly, the Mongols had a positive impact on the world because they united most of Asia.
The Mongols; a vicious and destructive military force, feared throughout its empire and under the rule of one man, Chinggis Khan. This picture of the Mongols and their empire is one often painted by our modern society. However, much of what we think we know about the Mongols has been exaggerated and biased from the point of view of the people that were conquered. In reality, the Mongols, although at times violent and destructive, bore many similarities in tactics and practices to the classical empires that had preceded them. They were not just simple barbaric savages looking to destroy whatever they could. They were a people united for a common purpose, trying to achieve it the same way that prior civilizations had done so: military force. Even though a Western perspective may find the actions of the Mongols objectionable, it must be understood that this was not a Western society, nor did it house the same values as one. The Mongols were not the destructive barbarians they are often made out to be, but rather an effective military force working for unification.
Mongols were almost ‘forced’ to be tolerant because they were such a large empire, and many of their followers came from different faiths. These two empires had both differences and similarities in both religion and politics. The differences and similarities enabled the nations to stand on solid ground and conquer many areas around the world. These empires became stepping stones for nations to come.
Over the years there have been many great nomadic groups, such as the Vikings and the Kievan, but no nomadic group has been more successful than the Mongols. The Mongols have had many lasting influences on Russia, China, and even Europe. The Mongols have left a mark on the European trading systems in technologies as well as in their trading systems trade routes. One thing that stayed the same throughout Europe was their many religion.
In central and southern Mexico, there are fundamental characteristic that deserve emphasis at the outset. The size and distribution of Indian peoples before the arrival of Europeans had a huge effect on the development of Mexico. The differences in the historical development of central and southern Mexico and the rest of North America derive in large part from the dense concentration of Indian peoples in the highland valleys of Mexico. The Spaniards had a huge role in the changing of the native peoples if Mexico not only politically and culturally as well. The timing of the colonization was also a huge fundamental influence on its development. Spain introduced their most important legacy to Mexico, the Reconquista. This was an 800 year long process of “reconquering” the Iberian Peninsula from Muslim control. This helped define the social and economic patterns that were introduced to Mexico. Along with the reconquering, Spain was full of a renaissance drive for knowledge, wealth and power. They attempted to recreate as accurately as possible the life of the medieval lord with his titles and power based ownership of large landed estates and control over subordinate and retainers. This was only made possible through the large population of Indians living in the area. They were the ones who did the heavy lifting and built the new society so that the Spaniards could accomplish their objectives. Unlike the central and southern Mexico, the northern section had a smaller Indian population, harsh climate and wide-open spaces helped develop a completely different culture. This section was a land of opportunity during much of its history.
Spain had a great military presence, including a large Navy and mainly settled in broad areas of the Southwestern and Northwestern parts of North America from 1492 to 1898. The Spanish wanted to conquer, colonize, and politically rule as much of the western hemisphere as possible ("Spanish," n.d.). The Spanish Empire used an encomienda system to set up their colonial government. Encomienda was a system of forced labor where an allotment of native people was granted to conquistadors and officials symbolizing “one of the most damaging institutions that the Spanish colonists implemented in the New World” (Busbin, n.d.). The King gave the Spanish conquistadors land and Native Americans for work, and they engaged in conflicts with the native tribes. The purpose of the conquistadors was to forcefully assimilate the Native Americans by teaching them Spanish and converting them to Catholicism though many tribes rebelled. The role of the conquistador was essential to the colonization of the Americas (Carney, 2013).
Both the glorious empires, the Mali established in 1230 by the founder Sundiata and Mongol founded by Genghis Khan in 1206 contain much more differences than similarities. When the rise of the Mali and Mongol Empires began to arise they had significant effects towards the areas in which they were located. Some similarities include religious tolerance and cultural growth by trade. Some differences include violence methods and religion. Even though both of these superlative empires arose in difference regions they shared some common views as well.
The Spanish Conquest was a significant expedition in the Spanish colonization of the Americas. Cortés’s fleet, crew, weapons, and horses helped him in his conquest. However that alone was not enough to defeat a larger society, and with the alliances formed by Cortés with the Tlaxcalans who hated the Aztecs helped him gain more power in his overpowering of the Aztec empire. The expedition was successful and it brought Spain many goods and riches making it very important to Spain.
Both types of empires can be beneficial in many ways. This assumption can be made because both help form the concept of written laws and the cultivation of new arts, sciences, and technologies. This assumption can be made because this helps modern day society develop by learning from their culture and
