The American colonists view of  representation, taxation and the relationship between the colonies and mother country were different from the British view. The British and the colonists didn't have the best friendship with each other. Their views of right and wrong were not the same. The British and the colonists view on representation were different. The British thought that representation should be virtual, meaning that there was a member of Parliament to virtually represent the colonies.  Now the colonists view was that it had to be actual representation, meaning that if they were going to be taxed, that they should have actual men from the colonies in London, seated and voting for them.
