The qualities of a good teacher:
Passion: This seems to be the most obvious quality for me. Of course you need to love teaching and helping learners grow in order to be effective. Nothing done for a pay-check can be done well and it needs to be considered that teachers lay the ground work for a child’s LIFE, that responsibility should not lie in the hands of someone who is unhappy within their career as a teacher.
Communication: Effective communication is a must. If you are unable to clearly convey a lesson or an idea then how would you expect a leaner to grasp the concepts you are trying to teach.
Role models: It is very important for teachers to be morally sound. Learners (as human beings) tend to lose respect for a person they do not look up to, and I believe once you have lost respect in your classroom it will be difficult to effectively teach your learners.
Discipline: It is no secret that in this day and age corporal punishment is an unaccepted form of discipline in our school system. Positive reinforcement makes learners more inclined to excel in the tasks they are given. Offe...
