Wars are tragic but beneficial; the Cold War was very beneficial because a plethora of technological advancements evolved from it, improving the economy, health, weapons, and warfare. The Cold War promoted an arms race between the Eastern Bloc and powers in the Western Bloc. The arms race created an environment where the technological advancements were the leading cause of competition between countries. Its widely believed that the Cold War was a negative event but the positive side of the Cold War is that technological advancements came from it changing history, improving the economy, creating new jobs and weapons, and also improving health.

The Radar and Sonar were both a big part of the technology that was used during the Cold War. The radar was used to detect distant objects, most importantly aircraft and ships. The radar would give a great advantage to people as the enemy would be detected without even knowing it. Enemies improved their technology to detect and disrupt radars by creating radar jammers and radar detectors. The radar jammers would be used to interrupt the waves coming out of the radar, therefore, the radar will not be able to get signals that the enemies are near. The greatest advantage to using the radar is that the enemies will lose the element of surprise. By using radar detectors, the enemies could learn more about the radars being used, this could help enemies learn where the opponents’ radars are positioned, and it would make it easier to bypass these radars. In addition to the utilization Radars, Sonar was also a big part of the war; Sonar is an acronym for Sound Navigation and Ranging that helped many warfare ships. This advancement in
To conclude, the cold war had an enormous effect on nearly every aspect of American life. With varying results, some were good and others were bad. I sense that the Cold war was helpful to us as a nation. Russian competition pushed the U.S. toward improvements in technology, military, science, and education. In a world with 2 superpowers the U.S. was driven to be better than the competitor. But now we are alone at the top and there is nowhere to go but down. Hopefully the termination of the U.S.S.R. didn’t open up a spot for a new and better world power to emerge in the near future.
The United States had bought Alaska from Russia partly so that the tsar would not be offended by a refusal. This kind of relation between the two became a rarity later on, especially in the twentieth century. The tense ambiance of this period gave no room for a civil affiliation between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic. After World War II, the two nations battled it out in a conceptual war known as the Cold War. It was characterized by a competition between the nations’ political philosophies- the USSR wanted communism to dominate the world, while the US wanted democracy to prevail. However, the war did not come about suddenly- it was congealed over a period of time by multiple factors. As World War II ended, the
The Cold War presented the United States with a unique decision. The Soviet Union had created a space program and the United States needed to decide if a space program would be beneficial for them. The Soviets sent probes out to space, and soon American probes followed. There are many reasons that the U.S. could have made this decision, but two reasons are more prominent that the others. Firstly the United States found it necessary to compete with the Soviets, and they could not accept the fact that the U.S.S.R had something that they didn’t. Secondly, JFK and his administration thought that space was the final frontier, and it would provide valuable scientific research. Ultimately, John F Kennedy and the United States decided to create a space

The result of World War II was affected by many different factors. One major factor which affected the war was the weapons and artillery used during the war. Since the beginnings of time, weapons have always been around. From swords and knives to nuclear weapons and missiles, weapons have evolved greatly throughout the years. The weapons and artillery used in World War II basically were evolved types of weaponry that were used during World War I (Military History 1).

...eaponry and sophisticated machines, this total could have been reduce by nearly half and showed how destructive these weapons were. Technology in World War I laid a foundation for even more powerful and deadly weapons such as the nuclear bomb. Technology made war even more bloody and destructive then it already was.
War. Humans have thrived from war for as long as we can remember. The United States has been fighting wars ever since we found the new country in North America that we now call the United States. We fought against our selves for the freedom of others. We fought in several world wars. We have always fought. But in the late 1940's “war” changed forever. This was well known as the Cold War. Why was this so different? “ The world had never experienced anything like it. The Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States was a half century of military build-up, political maneuvering for international support (Hanes, Sharon M., and Richard C. Hanes).” This means that the world has always seen war as either hand to hand combat or gun to gun combat. With soldiers and foot patrols, but this was basically an arms race. Who was to blame for this struggle? I believe that the Cold War was caused by both nations.
The Soviet Union and the United States served as Allies during World War II. At the end of the war however each side wanted to deal with the aftermath differently. The United States was in favor of a peaceful and cooperative relationship with Germany and their Allies. The Soviet Union wanted revenge on the crimes and atrocities that were committed against them. The United States wanted to push democracy in Eastern Europe yet the Soviets countered this by saying the United States was hypocritical, since at that time the United States supported the Latin countries that were governed by dictatorships. The Soviets were under the impression that this was an effort to boost the UNITED STATES economy.
The end of the Cold War was one of the most unexpected and important events in geopolitics in the 20th century. The end of the Cold War can be defined as the end of the bipolar power struggle between the United States and the Soviet Union, which had existed since the end of the World War II. The conclusion of the Cold War can be attributed to Gorbachev’s series of liberalizations in the 1980s, which exposed the underlying economic problems in the Soviet Union and Eastern bloc states that had developed in the 1960s and 70s and prevented the USSR from being able to compete with the US as a superpower. Nevertheless, Reagan’s policies of a renewed offensive against communism, Gorbachev’s rejection of the Brezhnev doctrine and the many nationalities
From when World War II ended in 1945, all the way up to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Cold War was the center of attention of international affairs. It was a struggle between the United States and the Soviet Union. From an American view the Cold War was a mostly a war on communism. The US caused and maintained the Cold War, the US is to blame for the Cold War for disparish of the communist Soviet Union in support of the political and economic systems.
One communication system that the Allies used more effectively than the Axis was the SONAR system. Sonar was an acronym that originally stood for Sound Navigation and Ranging. Sonar works by using sound propagation, most often underwater, to navigate and communicate with or detect objects around them (Overy). This was crucial to the war effort due to the fact that the Allies were able to detect and alert people where a boat was and which direction it was heading in. This was vital because thanks to SONAR the Axis were able to sense threats and notify There were two different types of sonar systems that were used during World War II: active sonar and passive sonar. Active SONAR systems used an acoustic projector to generate a sound wave into the water, which was reflected back by a target. The reflected waves were detected by a SONAR receiver, which analyzed the signal to determine the range, bearing, and relative motion of the target. " (Hackmann). Different than active SONAR, passive SONAR only had receivi...
The Cold War tensions affected multiple aspects of American life. Three effects were the focus on education, the House Un-American Activities Committee, and the Communist Control Act. One positive effect of the Cold War was the increased focus on education. Although it came out of a place of fear, the Eisenhower administration increased the amount of money allocated for education.

Therefore the cold war can’t be classified as a global war in terms of the military and actual warfare’s, as the two superpowers (Soviet Union and USA) fought indirectly with each other, however to an extent the cold war can be said it’s a global war in terms of its politics and economics. The The effects of the Cold War were definitely felt globally and had an aftermath.
The standard 21 year old adults have exchanged 250 thousand emails, spent 5 thousand hours video gaming and 10 thousand hours using their mobile devices (Lei, 2009). When people hear the word technology, they think of microwaves, televisions, cars, NASA, different types and transportation and more. For all that, technology has occurred long ahead these discoveries. Technology is an arguable matter amongst people. .In the old days, people lived an extremely simple life without technology. They used candles to light their houses and lanterns at the dark to travel, they used fire to cook and used newspapers and mail to share news.
