Church attendance is slowly dwindling in all the churches, even in your megachurches and the Word of God is not being sought as it should. Without the basic knowledge of “what is sin”, “who commits sin”, “where does sin come from”, and how to get rid of sin” it is resulting in much dishonor among people and rebellion against God. People are continuing to live secular lives living without basic biblical principles. People are continually seeking those things when that leads them further and further away from a Christian life and they should be seeking spiritual guidance. It started in a small town community and just spread worldwide. Along the way, it picked up intellectuals who would interpret the Word of God and influence others to follow, be it right or wrong. Each of the groups settling in various parts of the new United States and there grew a philosophy of the Word. This is evidence of the many different religions and religious wars. The religious people have their problems and the non-religious which as a whole are termed, secularist have their problems. These are those that are only concerned with the material ways of the world as it is now and how they can best capitalize on it. Nevertheless, secularism started with the churches, it does not end there. All matters of the world are acted upon and decided upon and are based on human consciousness and reasoning. In the past, the churches were responsible for basic family needs, but the laws provided very little funding, due to the separation of church and state. The government determined what organization would receive funding and has now taken over this assistance. That took away the need for people to go to the churches for help let alone to pray. Governmental decisions are made concerning society as a whole in which the citizens are given an issue on which to decide and vote on and that decision is based on a majority ruling. With the secular mindset, the decisions made are not according to
In today’s society, there are roughly around 4,200 religions that exist on this planet. Some define "religion" as a cultural system of behaviors and practices that help people make important decisions in life. Out of the many religions, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism have many similarities that connect them to one another. Themes of morality, justice, love are found through both the Buddha's teaching and the Hebrew and Christian Bible.
The three monotheistic faiths, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all essentially believe in the same God, whether His name be Allah, Yahweh, or God. They all believe in the same
The secularization paradigm Bruce argues ‘is a set of associated explanations rather than a single theory’ (Pg.43). To build on this argument Bruce provides us with a diagram of the secularization paradigm with 22 key contributing factors; some showing the religiosity of societies i.e. the protestant reformation and monotheism, some exploring other factors which have contributed towards secularization such as Industrial Capitalism, Technological Consciousness and Social Differentiation and he provides an explanation of these concepts in order to provide the reader with an analysis of these themes. This can however be problematic in the sense that the terminology of the paradigm may well be understood by individuals studying or in the field of sociology but for individuals who are looking to develop their knowledge on the debate of secularization and religion can make this difficult. Bruce argues that modernization is one of the main causes of secularization. ‘‘Modernization brought with it increased cultural diversity in three different ways. First populations moved and brought their language, religion and social mores with them in a new setting. Secondly, the expansion of the increasingly expansive nation state meant that new groups were brought into the state. But thirdly…modernization created cultural pluralism through the proliferation of classes and class fragmentation with increasingly diverse
Monotheism is the belief in the existence of one God. There are three of the most influential monotheistic religions in world history today known as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These three religions share both vast similarities and differences. One significant similarity they share is the belief in one deity. The belief of one God gave many people guidance and purpose in their lives. For this reason, these three religions gained many followers and believers who had faith in God. Through faithfulness in God, many were promised eternal paradise. In the following paragraphs, I will explain the similarities and differences between the rituals, holy scripts, and salvation that these religions shared.
Religion is “the belief in and worship of a god or gods, or any such system of belief and worship.” (Cambridge Dictionary) Many people believe in something else out of the evidential or scientific view, thinking that good things happen because God says so, or that the universe was not made by the Big Bang. Even though is something that was more present in history years ago, a lot of people still believe and practise a religion. According to Stephen Juan there are about 4,300 religions in the world. About a 75 per cent of the population of the world practises a religion and the two religions most widely spread are the Christianity and the Islam. (2006) They can be divided in believers, adherents or not adherents, agnostics and atheists. People who are believers are the ones who have faith in something great beyond and
Religion is defined as "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God" . There are many recognised religions of the world, which all teach its followers to live life "the right way", whose definition varies according to the religion itself. They have some beliefs and practices that distinguish themselves from each other. Some examples are differences and similarities of Buddhism and Islam.
In our world today, many people are either born and raised into a religion or eventually grow into becoming part of one. Two different types of religions are: monotheism and polytheism. Monotheism is the doctrine or belief that there is only one god. Well-known Monotheistic religions are: Judaism, Christianity, and Islamic. Polytheism is the belief in or worship of more than one god. Most religions throughout history have been noted to have been Polytheistic.
Every religion has its own goal, and their own path and believe to reach their goals, however there are also many similarities in believes. Although the followers of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam may see things differently, they all fundamentally hold the same values and codes. To Islam, the Prophet Mohammad’s teaching is a complete and final revelation. On the other hand, according to the bible, Christianity believes that Jesus Christ is the true lord and savior will grant you the access to heaven in the afterlife. Judaism is founded by Abraham, and it is the base from which both of the other two religions sprung. Even though the three religions differ in many areas and on many aspects, they also agree on the monotheistic, the belief in ‘One True God.’ Those religions have many similarities and a number of significant differences about God, role of women, prayer, and salvation.
The Doctrine of Salvation (Soteriology). God provides us with everything we need; we see this in Genesis where he provided Adam with everything he needed. Jesus became a man by reincarnation; a verse to support this is John 1:14 “
Although many religions have different sects; which, may share different ideas just like in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It is evident that these religions believe in one god. The teaching and traditions of each religion make each religion unique in its own way.
The doctrine of salvation contains various aspects. The intent of this research paper is to provide a general overview of salvation from the angle of justification, propitiation, grace, redemption, and sanctification.
This paper is a general theological descriptive research on salvation. Also, is how an individual may get to salvation plus some of the diverse Christian beliefs on the redemption order. This author attempts to show the reader a tiny sample, of a far-reaching subject, salvation, but God, the Rock, loves the world, and he is beyond it all, and he sent his son Jesus to save, reveal and restore the world. The paper 's base ideas are coming from the volume "The Mosaic of Christian Belief" by Roger Olsen.
Meaning of religion varies in different cultures and geographical location (Religion and Spirituality). In religion, most people believe in a god or gods. Also, most of them have set rules which must be followed to be religious. Religion is a category that is really wide-ranging and has many different parts to it. Such as rituals, beliefs, festivals, community, and many other things which are set by specific religion. Especially, when a group of people gets together based on their shared thoughts of their religion. Which shows their belonging into the groups, and they identify themselves as part of that group. For example, a person can “be a believer but not a religious practitioner” (Religion and Spirituality). Moreover, people differ in ways that they are
Secularism is a belief that education or morality shouldn’t be based upon religion. It is developed as an attitude in a person who simply looks at a Christian, Jewish or Muslim as a man/women. A secular person doesn’t owe his moral values to any religion. He follows the lead of humanism which is a form of religion for that particular secular person. Believe it or not, but we all believe in secularism in some sort of way apart from people who are blindfolded and believe in superstition in many countries such as India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other countries located in Asia. This is because of the high amount of illiteracy rate.
Scripture holds a prominent role in the sermon. In 2 Timothy 4:2, it states to “preach the word in season and out of season”. The Greek word for preach is ‘Kerusso’. It means to be a herald (proclaim) and to preach (announce) a message publicly and with conviction (persuasion). In this verse, Paul gave Timothy and the others ministers a charge and a commission to preach the Word. In order to be an effective preacher, the Word of God must be the foundation. In 2 Timothy 3:16, it states that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”. In other words, the Word of God was written by man, God-breathed and divinely inspired. The Scripture is important because it creates an argument or appeal that is persuading the audience to do something. The substance of our preaching must come from the Bible because the Bible comes from God. As messenger and ambassadors of God, we are obligated to speak the mind and thoughts of God.
