War is bloody and cruel, but sometimes necessary. In 1821 Mexico gained independence from its previous ruler Spain. In this time many settlers from America were moving west. The Mexicans, a good idea at the time, invited the Americans to move into Texas. This caused many disagreements that lead to many battles and eventually a war. The American were justified into going to war with Mexico because Mexico attacked the Americans first, Mexico signed over Texas, and, lastly, the Americans though it was their Manifest Destiny to move farther west.
Information on The War with Mexico that is needed to know is, the confusion started in 1836 when texas gained its independence from Mexico. The fighting started when texas wanted to be apart of America. The United States didn’t want to annex Texas because they were afraid it would anger Mexico. The Americans were just camping on their side of the river when the Mexicans attacked. ”in which some sixteen Americans were killed and wounded”(Polk325). The Mexicans fought and killed our men on our land. That is just unreasonable. Troops were led into battle by their General, Zachary Taylor, (velasco-marques327). They admitted that they planned this attack, that the Mexicans Attacked the Americans not the other way around. The “Mexican” government thought that the gathering army was a full thrown attack(velasco-marques327). The Mexicans thought that the Americans were gathering to attack, they thought so they attacked first. Americans were justified be cause the Mexican government thought that something bad was happening but instead of being reasonable they attacked and lost men on both sides.
