Recommended: Fossil fuels in the world today

Global warming is a topic that is constantly disregarded because the issue seems to small and irrelevant. However, people do not realize that global warming is time sensitive. Over the last 30 years, there has been an average increase of 1.5 Fahrenheit per year. Global warming has significantly gotten worse often the past years and there seems to be little to no action to prevent global warming. Through the increase in carbon dioxide levels and deforestation, it is evident that global warming is affecting us dramatically, suggesting that if we do not take action soon, we will be unable to live in such living conditions. The burning of fossil fuels are the main contributors for global warming. The process of burning fossil fuels lead to greenhouse gases. This process started during began and the 1900s when the industrial evolution and introduced factories which emitted fossil fuels such as the burning of coal and oil in order to build fires, run trains, and smithing. Through the various human activities such as power plants, automobiles, and factories, humans have began to put billions of carbons into the air. Approximately two-thirds of the global warming is due to fossil fuels. As humans burn oil and gases in order to run cars, carbon dioxide will be released which will then trap heat in the atmosphere. In the United States alone, 200 million cars are driven which releases about 1,545 million metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. To break it down into realistic numbers, each gallon of fuel that is used by one car releases 17 pounds of carbon dioxide. The problem about carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere is that the carbon dioxide does not stay in one place.
