The Pros And Cons Of Existentialism

I have always been an existentialist and always have loved a multitude of options in my life. I believe that there is no greater being that controls my life rather I control my life; however, others might disagree with this idea. One knows one's duty and purpose in life and ,therefore, must execute it. From the moment of birth, one’s life has already been decided. In essence, what should I do, follow my heart and take responsibility for it, or follow what others have set for me already? This explains the conflicts of existentialism and determinism. These two ways of thinking clash with one another. They have two separate ideas of how humans should live. Even though they clash, I think in some cases; these two philosophies go very well with one another. What it boils down to is will my choices make me ultimately happy? If not, then how am I supposed to live? Do we choose our own destiny, existentialism, or does fate choose it for us, determinism?
In the Movie Mulan 2, Ting-Ting, Mei, and Su are sent to marry the sons of Qui Gong in order to form an alliance so that China will be in war with the Mongols. Mulan, Shang, and three escorts were asked by the emperor to help the princesses arrive in Qui Gong safely and swiftly. The princesses have never met the sons before, but once they arrive, they will have to marry the Sons. Mulan, who recently got engaged to Shang, was perturbed by the concept of an arranged marriage rather than marrying for love. However, during the journey, Mei had received advice from Mulan, “My duty is my heart.”, and later, she fell in love with one of the escorts, Yao. The other two princesses later also fell in love with the other two escorts.
However, if they do not marry the sons, then there will not ...

...this life will happen an innumerable amount of times, and there is nothing we can do about it. Also the use of reasoning rather than our emotions may be a better way to choose. Determinism also allows people to not brood about every single decision that they make; rather, it just comes to them naturally.
In conclusion, whether you choose existentialism or determinism, I think what is most important and above all these questions is do you know yourself? Before jumping into a philosophy and studying it, before you can truly practice it, you must know yourself. Above this dispute of free will and determinism is that one cannot fully execute a philosophy without knowing yourself. All three philosophies that I have mentioned started off with knowing thyself. Therefore, what is truly important is that the only way to live a fulfilling and happy life is to know thyself.
