Binge-watching series is a relatively new phenomenon in the South African context. While taking this into consideration, should we not be asking ourselves if it’s not better to watch episodes over a period of time rather than all at once, and is this type of activity good for your overall health and wellbeing? I started this projected believing that binge-watching a show has a negative impact on people social interactions. I believed that since binge watching requires a lot of one's time in order to be done, one would just start binge-watching something and then stop talking to their friends and family. People of all ages are addicted to television. On average, people watch about thirty hours of television a week. But the people who go beyond this mark are known to society as “couch potatoes';.
