Today, because of life demands, people are absorbed into working to be able to afford their demands such as grocery, gas, insurance, bills, and social fees. That is the reason why everyone needs to go to work after the graduate from school. However, even teenagers also go to work after school hours to earn money for many personal reasons. Therefore, there are two debatable sides in the society that are arguing about that issue: After school job of teens. One side say that after school job is very good for teen that can better them. In contrast, the other side says that after school job can limit teens in many aspects that leads to many unpredictable consequences. Nevertheless, I think after school jobs are not good for teenagers. It can lead …show more content…
When teens go to work and earn money, they will forget what their real goal is. They will think that the goal is to study, to graduate, to get a job, and then to earn money, but they can earn money at current time without getting through those steps. Therefore, they tend to forget they real goal that is to get a real stable job which follows them for entire life. Some of teenagers drop out of school to have a full time job. Teenagers are stepping to mature life, so they have many deviation in thoughts. Giving long-range career success up for short-range pocket-money usually happens with teenagers. However, many people say that giving long-range career success up for short-range pocket-money is not true because teenagers have inspiration in their dream job. Many people have a dream job when they were little, and those dreams may change because of several reasons depending on what happens in their life time. Every time it changes, the inspiration about that job goes up, and it continuously raise up until the final goal. At that time, they will completely focus on that goal and try to make it come true. Therefore, teenagers can overcome the short-range pocket-money because they have a bigger goal to
Out of the 12 months of the year, students basically only have about two months to have fun and not worry about school. As a teenager, you do things without predicting the outcome. We tend to not always listen to our parents and sometimes end up in terrible situations.
Having great opportunities such as obtaining your career younger can be very beneficial. To begin with, finishing your desire career as a teenager instead of an adult can really make you look more important and would rapidly caught the attention of everyone. More doors would be open. Employers would always want to have as
As a child, dreams of becoming something that often times are believed to be slightly out of reach, such as a pro athlete, or a rock star, or an actor are common. Adults tend to veer juveniles away from aspirations of pursuing these careers because the chance of success in one of those careers is quite
Jobs won’t only support teens for the things they want, but it can help benefit for the things they need. The first things teens think of for their future are going to college and getting their first car. But, let’s say there’s a well educated thirteen-year-old, raised in a low-income family, who has plans on going to college. There’s no way their family can support him to go to college, and its funds could be over-whelming. The only way they could go to college is if they started saving at an early age. Therefore, if they got a job at the age they were at now, they’d be on their way to college by the time they graduate high school. Or, another example would be, if a teen wanted to get their first car on their sixteenth birthday. As you may know, many teens don’t get things handed to them on a silver platter, so they’d have to buy that car themselves. They might be old enough to drive, but they just turned the legal working age. Once they get a job, they’d have to wait at least a year to have enough money for the car as well as its insurance.
Response: I agree with Steinberg that working affects adolescents that are going to school. I believe that teenagers should concentrate on their studies and not become overwhelmed with the added stress of work. There is plenty of time for them to learn the “real world” of working, so why not let them be kids and have them worry about their homework and after school chores, rather than trying to make the almighty dollar.
Growing up all my friends had perfect jobs for teenagers. As a teenager, I spent a lot of time applying for jobs and searching for places to work because money didn’t come easy and I wanted to be in control of my own money. But I could never score a job. I applied to at least 100 jobs at least twice and I still couldn’t get an opportunity.
Students spend four years of their lives attending high school. Going through high school is mandatory as it prepares them for college and strength to face “the real world.” Having part-time jobs has become the phenomenon among high school students and many students follow this trend as well. Moreover, there are some pros and cons attached with it. Though it may seem like working throughout high school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for “the real world.” Although some people believe that the primary duty of a student is studying, I am of the opposite position. I strongly support the idea that high school students should work throughout high school. This is because they can earn money, become responsible and get experience.
Just because you are young or little does not mean you should stop following your dream. Just because you are a boy or girl does not mean you have to go into a certain career field. A company that is showing a good example of boys and girls choosing whatever career path they want is "Barbie." In "Forrest Gump" he was running away from bullies with his leg braces on and Jenny yelled "Run Forrest Run." His leg braces broke and he was running without them. Also in "Forrest Gump" Forrest followed his career path and some of his careers were football, shrimp fishing, and the army.
Most high school students need money to pay for a car and other essentials they may need or want (Adults Aren't the Only Ones That Need to Make Money). And in most cases the students have to earn this money by themselves with no parental help. It is very common to see high school students getting jobs over the summer because it is their time off and they need the income. But, it can be very hard to juggle a job, school work, and a social life when your school is year round. And in top of that most highschool students are athletes or involved in other extra curricular activities that take up time before or after school.
Most high school teens and middle school teens don't get enough sleep, you are supposed to have 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep each night. Teachers and other educational people know this but they don't do anything to stop it. It is a scientific fact that teens learn more efficiently when they are well rested. Teenagers won't fall asleep later so they are continually losing sleep. There may be many causes why this is harmful in school relations but it is also dangerous in general, if students are too tired or over powered that can cause some dangerous side effects for example: getting in car accidents, alcohol, and cigarettes just so they can stay up longer.
Working teaches students about responsibility and also reinforces what they are leaning in school. Having a job while in high school is a catalyst for future responsible actions and thinking. Teens are accountable for work attendent, job perfromance, and customer satisfaction. The attendence is very essential in a work place. Teens will demonstrate the skills they acquire from work whenever they go to work, and it will be evaluated on their evaluation worksheet by their employers. For example, if teens have missed class, they would be mark for absence and it will later affect their grade. Being resposible in early ages is not very easy, some of them need to take time to work on what they are lacking of. Working will make teens feel more confident in life especially in their job performance. Having responsiblity while performing the task is important because teens know what they should and should not do that will help them avoid making mistake at work or it will lead them to satisfy the customers. In fact, students can use what they have been taught in class and apply it to their job skills because studying and practicing always come along way. The more the teens practices, the more they learn from work experiences. No matter how old they are, as far as student...
For hundreds of years it has been recognized that not all learning takes place in the classroom. Students mental and social development also occurs outside the classroom in athletics, music, and clubs. No matter what club the student is involved in, he/she fosters organizational, interpersonal, communication, planning, critical thinking, financing, and evaluation skills. A club gives students the opportunity to combine components of their mental and social development into personal action. These students have opportunities to test their skills and talents in different situations. Students will always work together to set goals, develop action plans for achieving those goals and implement those plans. Doing so, students could develop and maintain working relationships and friendships. The soul of a club is the students, but it also consists of many things that happen behind the scenes.
It’s nonsensical to believe that every sixteen-year old should know what he or she wants to do with his or her life, and even more so to discourage someone from pursuing his or her interests. In a capitalist society, it makes sense that average salaries a few years out from college graduation would strongly influence the interests of many young people. It’s not uncommon to come across newspaper articles or editorials bemoaning the United States’ lack of engineers or glut of unemployed English majors. It’s even more common to...
These decisions may also include the career they plan to take in the near future. As stated by Bettina Lankard (as cited in Vargas – Benitez, 2013), teens living happily with and seeing their family thriving due to a good career path are more likely to imitate the same path taken by their parents. However, it is not the same for those teens in the opposite situation – a teen who is lonely and sees that their family is financially struggling. These teens have a high chance to choose a completely different path from their parent’s career because of their desire to change their
There are, in some cases, firms that employ young and inexperienced workers, as mentioned before they are usually known as "youth friendly industries". Industries such as McDonalds, Coles/Myer, Safeway/Woolworths and KFC just to name a few, are the leading retail and takeaway outlets employing youth. Not only do they employ them but they provide them with the essential training to perform their duties with maximum efficiency. Some people see working as an obstacle towards school and homework and others don't want to work for ridiculously low pay. In conjunction with a high youth unemployment rate the government has introduced schemes to counteract this problem and to keep the youth population in school and out of the workforce.
