Car restoration is a process of mending a car to return it to an overall genuine condition which regains its value and quality. According to Remling (1989), a restored automobile will have a higher resale value. Restoration is done without modifying the car by maintaining with how it would have appeared as it was initially for sale. A full restoration process does not only include the repair of visible parts such as the body, trim, chrome, and passenger compartment, but also components that are not necessarily evident such as the chassis, engine, and all ancillary parts like the brakes, cooling system and electrical system. Correcting obvious problems and cosmetic defects are the reasons repairs are made. Safety is also another reason as accidents caused by system failures will be minimized after restoration (Remling, 1989). There are several stages in restoring a motor vehicle to its authentic state, namely total disassembly of the car, reupholstering the interior, repairing the exterior, rebuilding the engine, reassembly, and finally, testing (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix).
First, the car is completely disassembled and stripped to its chassis (Halliday, 1999). According to Gilles (2005), the chassis includes the suspension and steering systems, frame, tires, brakes, axles and wheels. Each metal part is then cleaned by stripping them off their old paint and thoroughly examined for damage or rust. Rust, dents and ripples are removed and the metals parts are refinished, primed, and painted to match the original factory condition. Wear and tear parts are then repaired or replaced if the cost to repair is too expensive. This process is repeated for wooden parts where they are sent through the same meticulous process with replacing ...

First, the parts of the car are made, and the frame is. placed on a conveyor belt. Workers are stationed along the belt to form an assembly line. As the conveyor belt moves. the car, each worker performs a task that they are specialized in. Each worker must perform their task quickly.
The ball joint is the most critical part inside the steering system of the car and the suspension system of the car. The lower ball joint is a joint that connects the front of the wheels in the vehicle and the main axle, and allows the wheels to move freely. Due to the movement of the steering linkage, the ball joints are flexible joints, which have the design of a ball and socket. These lower ball joints are always made of hard steel, and the bearing stud and the socket is received inside the steel housing. There are pivot points between the suspensions of the tires that help in supporting the weight of the vehicle.
Imagine you’re driving down the road in your brand new car. Another driver pulls out from a side road and suddenly the whole side of your brand new car is twisted and dented from fender to fender. Most people will be in an automobile accident at some point in their lives and they will require the services of an auto-body repairman. Auto body repair is not only the art of taking damaged vehicles and making them drivable and safe, it is also taking old vehicles or worn out looking vehicles and painting and freshening up their overall appearance.

On some vehicles it maybe better to remove the body of the vehicle from the frame. this will require unhooking everything from the fire wall of the vehicle. Sometimes this will take lots of time. remember to label all the wires when removing them this will help in the reinstallation process. Also the steering column must be removed from the vehicle and all of the dash. After this you can remove the body mounting bolts from the frame and slowly remove the body from the vehicle.Muscle Car Restoration (How to Restore A basket Case.)
The first thing to consider is the process of cleaning and coating of the boards. This particular process involves the set-up of the machines, the loading of the boards, and the actual cleaning and coating of the said boards by the machines.
The first step in body work is to take the car apart so that it is easier to get rid of all the dents, paint, and rust. Then take out all of the interior, and take off the mirrors, hood, fenders, and all of the extra parts that will make it easier to get off the paint.

Millions of people own and drive cars, but many of those people go through their whole lives not knowing anything about how to fix or notice the minor details of their cars. Every now and then they shell out hundreds, or even thousands of dollars to take their cars to get fixed for small things. If they were to able to take a little of their time and much less money, they could easily take care of some things themselves. A few of these problems include the following: the charging system, oil changes, and fluid levels.
Another example of a suspension system is called the double wishbone suspension, or the A-arm system. This system is said to be the most ideal suspension to many suspension designers. It can be used both in the front and in the rear of the car, is an independent suspension, and is most desirable because of its n...
In recent years, many auto manufacturers have started certified used car programs. Used cars that meet their standards, as well as rigorous multi-point inspections carried out by trained technicians, qualify for this program. Among luxury cars, Porsche has a certified pre-owned program. To qualify, cars must be less than eight years old and have an odometer reading of less than 100,000 miles. All repairs must have been done by trained technicians using genuine parts. The cars also undergo a 111-point inspection by trained technicians, and they come with manufacturers’ warranties
Restoring your first classic car is fun, exciting and sometimes confusing. Within a few days of beginning the project you soon realize how much you've already learned. The next car you restore will benefit from this real world experience. The goal of this article is to reduce the learning curve of the disassembling process.
To begin this discussion, it is crucial to understand what exactly art conservation and restoration is and what it entails. Art Conservation/Restoration can be defined as an array of professions dedicated to “approaching every painting (or artwork) conservatively in that only what needs attention is addressed and nothing excessive is ever performed, all of the materials used are modern…” . This is the process of careful examination, documentation, and attention and treatment of a weakening art object due to age, neglect, and utilization. These objects can range from paintings to architecture to any number of things.
Aircrafts undergo a variety of stresses, strains, vibrations, and detrimental environments. It is important to inspect the aircraft regularly in order to keep the aircraft operable, which inspections of the aircraft is a big part of proper maintenance. There are many types of inspection; the most common one is pre-flight inspection and post-flight inspection. Under the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), a pre-flight inspection is mandatory for Pilot Proficiency Check. During a pre-flight inspection, the pilot should use the pre-flight checklist to perform an inspection on the exterior and interior of the aircraft. It is a chance for the pilot to check any defects on the aircraft that may cause a problem, and the readability of the radio signals.
In my undergraduate years, I have acquired a strong background in the fundamentals of basic mechanical engineering, having studied subjects such as Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Design of Machine Elements and Automobile Engineering. Whilst pursuing my diploma & degree courses, my interest for Automotive Engineering grew even more having learnt more on the different types of internal combustion engines, their configuration and importance. However, what I lacked was a practical understanding on these core areas of Automotive Engineering. To gain a better understandi...
