The Prince of Egypt is an animation and a musical about the story of Moses. The movie begins with Moses’ mother sending him off in the bulrushes and ends with Moses watching over his people, with the tablet of law in his hands. This essay will discuss whether or not a cartoon medium is a good way of passing on the story of Moses, the point of the movie, what is best about the film, whether or not anything should be changed in the film, my favourite characters in the movie and whether or not this film should be recommended for a grade nine class to watch.

An animated movie is a good way of passing on the story of Moses. The film makes the story of Moses more appealing to a wider range of viewers. The reason for this is that younger people are more likely to watch this action packed cartoon than read the bible passage. Not only are more people going to watch the movie, but since they are more interested in it they may take more from it then they would have if the story was presented in a different way. Nonetheless, this is also a good movie for older people as well because it presents the story with a lot of detail and accuracy. The fact that the movie has a musical aspect to it, allows for it to have an effective impact on the viewer. Music makes the movie more effective because the songs repeat things over and over again and allows for people to remember more about the story. Overall, an animated musical is a good way of passing on the story of Moses and gets the point of the story across.

The point of the movie is to never be afraid of anything because as long as you believe in God he will protect and help you in your time of need. This is shown by the fact that the Jews kept praying to God and God sent Moses to save them. Thi...

I would recommend this film for grade 9 students taking a religion class. One of the reasons for this is that grade nine’s are more likely to be interested in a movie then reading a bible passage. This movie is a good choice because it is an accurate portrayal of Moses act’s to save the Hebrew people. Another reason I would recommend this movie is because it is action packed and holds the viewers attention while still teaching a moral lesson. I do not think there is a better way then the Bible, to pass on the story of Moses. However, I still think that “The Prince of Egypt” is a captivating and informational movie that should be viewed by everyone of all ages. This is because at the end of the movie, we have learned something new, and opened our hearts to the Word of the Lord!
