I remember the first day I stood in the bright dancing room with many beautiful girls. I was nervous but preoccupied because it was also the first time I met my dancing teacher, a slim and elegant woman with long dark hair and attractive eyes. “Do you know what you will learn in this class?” She stood in front of us and asked. “Dancing!” We gazed her and answered with one voice. “Not exactly, young girls.” She smiled demurely, “You will learn a new language which is the most special in the world, and I will teach you how to regard your arms and legs as pens to write your poetry with your own exceptional words. Can you imagine how beautiful it is? ” There was the first time I was enchanted by a teacher, and there was the first time I trust that a teacher could be an engineer of a human soul. During the process of learning dances with her, she pushed me to higher levels of dancing stepwise, and to made me enjoy dancing, she made hard efforts; at the same time, she raised up my passion in my life. Even thought I have come to United States, every word she said, and every movement she showed in that dancing room still often appear in my mind. To me there are many great teachers in the world like my dancing teacher; furthermore, I believe that excellent teachers not only teach their students academic knowledge but also motivate their students when they set high expectations, have an engaging teaching technique and build a positive relationship with them.

While teachers build a positive relationship with students, they understand their students in depth, and students prefer to study and share their feelings with their teachers ; in addition, with their support and positive influence, their students are likely to have a glorious future. Because excellent teachers have a great influence on their students by motivation, they become to the extremely important figures in students’ lives. Teachers help us expand and open our mind by giving us skills throughout students’ early life to help students when they are older. By learning information from teachers, students become better people, in a couple of ways. Besides inquiring knowledge from their teachers, students learn to work with one another, open their mind to other peoples’ thoughts and ideas, respect one another, and learn different techniques for life’s issues.
Although today’s culture is for students to sit, listen, and learn, Edmundson and Freire indicate that there are valuable rewards in provoking students to critically think and analyze the material provided, but say little about ways to keep students motivated. Further research indicates that motivation plays a significant part in keeping the interest and focus of students and teachers. Adjustments to educational culture are insignificant if strategies for increased motivation in the classrooms aren’t utilized.
The use of the term teacher expectations has been a source of consternation and anger for some educators because of its connection to the concept of self-fulfilling prophecy (Jussim & Harber, 2005). These prophecies are “erroneous teacher expectations [that] may lead students to perform at levels consistent with those expectations (Brophy & Good, 1974; Rosenthal & Jacobson, 1968)” (Jussim & Harber, 2005, p. 131).
The job of a teacher is never easy but we have seen how cooperative discipline and enabling students to feel capable, connected and contributing can improve classroom management and maybe even our own moods. If we create an environment of mutual respect and give our students legitimate power of voice and choice in the classroom we will see positive results in improved student behavior and student achievement. Education is a very important aspect of our lives. It is our education that makes us who we are and determines what we become. Therefore, education is not something to be taken lightly. As a teacher, my goal will be to provide the best possible education for my students. Every student is unique. I must see students for who they are individually and respect their ideas and opinions. Each student has a different learning style. I must take this into consideration because I want to provide a constructive learning opportunity for every student. I believe that every student has the potential to learn.
Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. My interest in teaching started at a young age. I used to watch my teachers in awe as they were able to find new ways to get their students involved and excited to learn. Their enthusiasm to teach was so inspiring. I would often find myself using that same fervor as I grasped each concept. I, then, was able to relay it to my fellow classmates as a peer tutor. To this day, becoming a teacher is a passion that flows through me. However, my enthusiasm and passion are not the only reasons I would be a good teacher. I aspire to see a student’s ability to grasp the knowledge they never before understood. I aspire to see a student succeed at something they never thought they ever could. I aspire to not only support students with academic skills, but also with life lessons about the value of community, pride in one’s own ethnicity, good citizenship, sportsmanship, and more. I aspire to play a fundamental role in ensuring that all students from all cultures and learning abilities have the opportunity to be guided in a positive learning
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve oneself.

Students come to the classroom with different life stories. Every student has strengths and weaknesses that surface in the classroom environment. Teachers must understand and focus on utilizing each student's strengths and work to improve weaknesses. Students learn in a variety of ways. The classroom must be a safe zone that appreciates student's viewpoints and allows room for mistakes. When topics in the classroom are related to "real-life" experiences, the information is more likely to be retained. Students learn from one another. The ideas and perspectives that each student brings to the classroom can bring insight into what is being learned. Students have to be allowed to explore new ideas, try them to see if they work, and sometimes fail. When students are encouraged to explore, they begin the process of becoming lifelong learners.
Besides already knowing what I’ve wanted to do since I was in the eighth grade, I have always been drawn to education in a way that it has motivated me to keep moving forward. Also on a personal side now that I am pregnant with our first baby, I feel that it is an obligation for me to be the person that our children look up to when it comes to schooling.
