The Philadelphia Orchestra is an American symphony orchestra in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their concert hall is at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, where they perform for their patrons during their main season, September to May, in Verizon Hall. This has become the orchestra’s performance hall since 2001, since they also own the Academy of Music, which is the oldest operating opera house in the nation since 1957. The orchestra also performs for its Philadelphia audiences during the summer at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. The orchestra was founded in 1900 by Fritz Scheel, who also acted as the first conductor. The current and eighth music director is Yannick Nezet-Seguin, who was appointed in 2012 (The Philadelphia Orchestra, 2016). …show more content…

The jazz band I observed played a series of six different songs. Although all the songs were categorized as jazz, each song had its own special style and sound to it. The band consisted of three different players. Paul Meyers, the guitarist and composer, Andy Eulau, the bassist, and Dave Rataczak, on drums. The songs performed were entitled “Love for Sale” by Cole Porter, “Once I Loved” by Antonio Carlos Jobim, “Stars” by Paul Meyers, “Blues for Mel” also by Paul Meyers, “Last Night When We Were Young” by Harold Arlen, and “Samba Novo” by Luis Eca.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
I chose to do my concert critique on Eric Clapton-MTV unplugged full concert-HQ January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England. Eric Clapton is my favorite rock n roll singer which has a mixture of genres. The concert was inside and on stage. The audience was seated up close to the stage which made the atmosphere comfortable; Eric and the band showed much warmth and connected with the crowd it wasn’t like the band was untouchable.
The Boston Symphony Orchestra was a group I just did not know that was out there in the beginning. The opportunity to explore such a historical symphony will make me continue to explore others. I thought it was absolutely inspiring that Andris Nelsons had his wife perform along his claimed orchestra. It showed lots of long lasting love for music in a couple. The symphony itself is honored to have Andris Nelsons as a
Music is virtually everywhere we go, no matter if it is background noise in a coffee shop or singing along while shopping for groceries, we can find music somewhere. The event I attended was the Flint Symphony Orchestra on October 8, 2016. I have never attended a symphony before so I was excited to go, especially since I had invited my friend to attend with me. For this event, I was already informed by my teacher that the symphony will be formal so we needed to look the part since others will be dressed fancy. This made me curious how this event will turn out. Walking past the ticket area and through the doors to the lobby made me feel instantly memorized at how grand it was on the inside. I went downstairs and there were a vast
I have been to many different concerts throughout my life but this year I experienced two exceptionally unique ___ that I had never seen before. The first one was a spectacular chamber recital that took place at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performed by pianist Yefim Bronfman and violist-violinist Pinchas Zukerman. The program included Schubert's Violin Sonatina No. 2 in A Minor, Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 7 in C Minor, and Brahms’ Viola Sonata No. 1 in F Minor. The second was a performance by the notable quartet “Anonymous 4” presented by the Universality of Chicago at the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. The program included a series of medieval French motets from the 13th Century French polyphony, taken from the Montpellier Codex. The two performances were extremely different in nature and but at the same time very similar in what they were trying to achieve. For instance, while the first concert consisted entirely of an instrumental performance, the other was exclusively vocal. However, both were able to bring to life great examples of iconic artists from our past. I left both c...

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Classical Music Concert Report. I attended the Los Angeles Philharmonic classical music concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Friday 29 November 2013. The classical concert started at 8:00pm to the enjoyment of the huge audience that had been waiting for this amazing music extravaganza. Classical music concerts always offer magnificent entertainment and the audience in this concert was expectant to derive such entertainment or more. In attendance were Christian Zacharias, who was the conductor, and Martin Chalifour, who was the LA Phil commanding Principal Concertmaster and Bach violin player.
To start with, American Fanfare was created in the year 2006 and was embraced by a Lieutenant Colonel is a wonderful experiences. It was created by the conductor Jim Stephenson, with the rest of the performers, and they should give themselves a pat on the back for creating a new aura around the concert with such an amazing melody in so many ranges of ascending. Yet, the music was able to lead in the making of rhythms to be in a constant motion between adagio, andante, and allegro. Making the audience feel as if they are on the edge of their seats and feeling the homophonic texture. It adds dynamic qualities to the music by having the brass instrument and the woodwind instrument playing the same piece over and over one another as if challenging

Upon his return he guest conducted with the New Haven, New Britain, and Hartford Symphonies. Also, he worked on the boards of the New Haven and Hartford Symphonies. ... middle of paper ... ... A majority of her staff is on contract and generally works less than the symphony does. This provides a great opportunity for the opera employees to increase their potential performances and network with a much more renowned organization.
The Symphony Orchestra concert was preformed by The OU School of Music with Jonathan Shames as a conductor and they presented Sutton Concert Series. In addition, the Orchestra concert performed at Paul F. Sharp Concert Hall in October 12, 2015.There were like forty-one performers on the stage including the conductor using different types of instruments and and all of them were wearing a nice black clothes. The stage was a quite large with wooden floor and there were two floors for the audience with a comfortable seating. However, all the performers were on round shape and against the conductor.
Becoming a music conductor is a very competitive task. A future conductor must have an early childhood musical experience. It might involve learning how to play music on an instrument. Then they must develop many types of skills involving a controlled behavior. They also have to job shadow a conductor that has a professional status. Next they must have a (“Masters degree in music theory, composition or conducting”). To be able to get inside at good music program is held with a strict audition (BLS). While in school they must develop purpose and operation of every musical instrument in the ensemble (Wisegeek).
The performance must be of exceptional quality and must entertain the audience with the repertoire that has been selected by the conductor. For example, the repertoire selected must be of the orchestra’s skill level; otherwise, the performance would be unlikable due to tuning and precision issues. For the sake of the MSYO, Dr. Robert Seebacher, their maestro, chooses repertoire that is workable for the orchestra. To illustrate this idea, this year’s musical pieces includes Prokofiev: Lieutenant Kijé Suite, Borodin: Polovtsian Dances, and Gliere: Russian Sailors ' Dance which are all tough, but doable pieces. Symphony orchestras should tune, prepare, and collaborate with each other before a performance to ensure the entertainment is prodigious for the audience. The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra achieves the criterion by developing with auditions, letting the conductor chose the repertoire, and making sure the pieces are doable within their time
“I don’t want to join that boring orchestra, stop annoying me, please.” I shouted to my best friend. It was the fifth time that my friend tried to convince me to join our school orchestra, and it was also the fifth time I refused her.
