Recommended: Literary devices and their use

I chose to select prompt A, which is to rewrite a chapter from a different character’s perspective. I decided on this prompt because Cherry, the character I picked, played an important role in the narrative. Cherry Valance helped bond her world and Ponyboy’s world together. Unlike the majority of the Socs, Cherry did not judge Pony for what he was, but for who he was. Near the end of The Outsides, this unique girl became a spy for the greasers and befriended some of them as well.

The student could write about the author’s very descriptive word choice (diction) and how he uses those words to create imagery in the passage and help the reader visualize the situation.
